  1. Used to congregate in the lab each morning for the radio2 quiz. Not that I ever got many questions right. Was pretty competitive and a good laugh, and the boss would know it was good team bonding Don't find much music I like on the radio (since the Radio6 Rock Show was killed). Don't even like the Radio1 Rock Show any more. Wondering if I'm just old (stop laughing at the the back), or if this is just another shitty decade like the 80s. Maybe you get your brain wired at 15 and after 51 it's a pot scrubber.
  2. Bejeeeeeezus. Well done to you if you can carry that off... I mean. Black socks ffs
  3. If say you are on £40,000, you'll pay more in tax next year. In perspective, the amount is small compared to the real impact from inflation that is substantially due to "quantitative easing" and brexit's hit on the £. 10s of £s versus over £1,000.
  4. Nothing booked yet, though got an eye a few from March to May. Anybody been to the SWG3 venue yet in Glasgow? Their "TV Studio" has 1000 standing capacity. I suspect they might move acts up or down to their other halls depending on sales.
  5. Was fantasizing about Accies halting the record, but come in and turn on the radio and Celtic score twice immediately. Oh, and Rangers score anaw. You can thank me later.
  6. On my honeymoon at 23 on a Med beach (it was November and no excuse, ...but after a hard night... on the voddy), I had to get the brand new missus to uncork the bottle. Was just water like, but I couldnae manage Ah, those were the days... but we have a secret pleasure with a new jar of beetroot.
  7. I'd just like to say that whatever response you saw was natural and Mrs Grim still knows nothing about this . My lawyers will be in touch. Tiny Tears says you're taking this far too far.
  8. Folks who complain about voicemail Just turn it off. Aoanyhoo, phones are for outgoing. Not incoming. Throw it in a fuggin' drawer, or a puddle or volcano. Woosh!
  9. I've got a golf advert on this thread.
  10. No, buy I've gubbed my left shoulder and can't wash my right armpit or left buttock
  11. At least she's given us a definition of British culture.
  12. Thanks for the link Toepoke. I managed to miss the programme each time it was on TV. I'd just finished reading Wings on my Sleeve coincidentally. I read that several times aircraft manufacturers would get into difficulty and ask Farnborough and hence Winkle to dig them out their hole. Must have been pretty scary stepping into the DH.108 to replicate the fault that killed its previous test pilot, then having such a narrow escape too. The 3rd and final prototype killed his successor too. The number of deck landings is amazing when you consider attrition rates as well Biffer. Even in operational service 38% of the RN's Sea Vixens were lost in accidents, killing 51 aircrew, and 51% of their Scimitars too. (Plus he did a lot of simulated deck landings and catapult take-offs on land, and a load of undercarriageless landings on a matress.) Scary Sea Vixen pic. The wee helicopter's job is to fish the aircrew out the drink as required.
  13. Oh feck, aye! Next away strip mibbee?
  14. Thought that was the Daily Mash for a minute. Only 1,800ft for the first attempt. He could drive up 14,000ft in Colorado to give himself a start.
  15. Oh, Mediterranian sky now? Neither shirt-of-darkest-blue, nor Pantone 600 optomistic-Scottish-summer. A bit royal no? (Toss-grenade-and-leave emoticon...) Looks a bit bolder on-screen I suppose.
  16. A lot better view at Hampden than I've had at many away games. Admittedly from N or S stands here versus stuck way up high, way down low , in a corner or behind a net overseas. Worst for me was the game at the Emirates, where I had a letterbox view under a stand behind a goal. N stand effectively has safe standing too as it's not dangerously steep like some places. Could that be formalised? Perhaps some work could be done to pull in the E, W stands as previously suggested.
  17. Absolutely; those two were linesman calls. The reason I'd like to see complete footage again, was that my impression was that the ref was against us throughout... What I saw time and again was that an Italian attack would break down and we'd break quickly. Around the half way line with many of their players still up the park they'd foul us. (No yellows in those days for that.) We'd try to take the free kick, but each time the ref would wave us back a couple of yards to the "correct spot". Meanwhile of course, Italy are all back and organised. Subtle ...until the incident. For me sitting around half way, this seemed to happen several times. Not even sure it would show up on TV, as they could be cutting to replays or other shots, but would like to see.
  18. Is there a video of the whole game anywhere, not just highlights? I came away with the impression that the ref was bought, and not just from that free kick. I've never seen the game on TV however to check again. Didn't see any bother in town, but we went to a pretty empty Italian restaurant. Staff seemed a bit taken aback at first!
  19. Looks like they did play their neighbours quite a bit. http://www.eloratings.net/Denmark.htm Something else I just noticed was that we never played outwith the Home Champs until 1929. England were playing others from 1907 quite regularly. I think we missed the boat to hand out a few early thumpings to the likes of Germany, Holland and France http://www.eloratings.net/England.htm
  20. I guess it's because Denmark have played 801 games. Only England (1025), Sweden, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, S.Korea, Hungary, Uruguay, Mexico, Thailand, France, Malaysia, Poland & Norway have played more. If you love a spreadsheet, paste the tables from here and batter on http://www.eloratings.net/world.html Pah! Only the 4th highest win percentage (58%) after Brazil (63%), Spain & Germany. Scotland are about 28th at 47%. Sandwiched between Uzbekistan / Iraq and Hungary. There are only 18 nations on the list that are above 50% and they include Tahiti, Northern Cyprus, and New Caledonia. That's statistics for you
  21. Nah, Scotland have played 762, won 361, lost 233. Right, these must be the most meaningless stats, but there are 15 teams that have won more than 361, and 31 that have lost more than 233: Brazil have won 607, England(+OlympicGB, sorry) 595, (West+)Germany 548, Argentina 535, S.Korea 507, Sweden 500, Mexico 452, Hungary 434, Italy 420, Uruguay 399, France 399, Spain 397, Netherlands 394, Egypt 380, Czech(oslovakia/Bohemia) 377, Denmark 365. Finland have lost 396, Switzerland 342, Norway 337, Singapore 335, Thailand 326, Mayaysia 325, Chile 307, Luxembourg 306, Wales 302, Sweden 298, Uruguay 296, Indonesia(Dutch E.Indes) 292, Austria 285, Hungary 285, Belgium 279, Denmark 275, Paraguay 271, Malta 264, Peru 263, El Salvador 260, Trinidad+Tobago 260, Poland 260, Bulgaria 259, N.Ireland 252, France 252, (Republic+)Ireland 251, Kenya 249, USA 246, Bolivia 237, Serbia(+Montenegro/Jugoslavia) 237, Jamaica 234. Apart from having too much time on my hands, read into that what you like!
  22. Boy, oh boy, you're goin' down! I could be disqualified from giving evidence though...
