Hertsscot Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Jimmy Anderson just announced his retirement from test cricket. Absolutely phenomenal career. As a fast bowler to have managed to play the amount of matches he has is quite incredible.
EddardStark Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Solid win for Scotland against Namibia. If we beat Oman on Sunday I think it’s a good achievement. Still unlikely we will qualify but at least we will go into the last match with a shout.
Hertsscot Posted June 7, 2024 Author Posted June 7, 2024 USA beating Pakistan! Bit of an upset - not sure how well that might go down with some people in Pakistan.
Caledonian Craig Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 (edited) Massive match about to start for Scotland against Oman. A win in good style will give them a very good chance of quakifying for the Super Eight stage. Edited June 9, 2024 by Caledonian Craig
Caledonian Craig Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Oman won the toss and elected to bat. After 7 overs they are 61 for 3.
Caledonian Craig Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Scotland chipping away here with Oman 78 for 4 after 10 overs.
Caledonian Craig Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Cracking win on the cards for Scotland with plenty of overs to spare. All good for the net run rate.

They have one match left to play against Australia. A win and they are through as group winners and even if they lose with a healthy run rate then England would need to thrash Oman and Namibia hugely to pip us to second.
Fairbairn Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 England absolutely scud Oman in probably the most one sided match ever. Means if they beat Namibia and we lose to Australia that England will now likely qualify for the Super 8.
EddardStark Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 It’s absolutely hammering it down in Antigua for the England v Namibia match. Should have started at 6. If no play then Scotland are through and England are out.

Scotland now must beat Australia to go through to the Super 8s.
EddardStark Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Tired of hard luck stories but I don’t think this team could have done any better. Pushed Australia all the way.

Hertsscot Posted June 22, 2024 Author Posted June 22, 2024 It's a shame the game v England ended up being called off as we were certainly in a strong position.
EddardStark Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 Going to Trent Bridge tomorrow for day 1 of the 2nd Test. Hope the West Indies turn up this time.

I know we lament the state of Scotland's national football team but probably pales in comparison to the Windies cricket team. When I was a teenager they were the Superpower, incredible batsmen (Lloyd, Greenidge, Richards) and ferocious bowlers (Holding, Marshall, Garner). The decline must be heart breaking if you're a fan.

Even their 2nd edition with Lara, Walsh and Ambrose etc was something special. The best players from the Caribbean now concentrate on the world 20/20 circuit, given most of their economic backgrounds it’s fully understandable. The test team has suffered greatly as a result of this unfortunately
Tazz Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Australia have finished their innings at 193/6. I don't think England would be able to chase down this target in the absence of some of their big guns.
EddardStark Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 If there is one cricketing nation that espouses what cricket is all about its New Zealand. That 3-0 win in India must be up there with the greatest ever test series achievements.

Nobody predicted a 3-0 win for the visitors at the start of the series.
