Am very glad I am not a pub goer for these EPL games when they are on, sickens me in the pub listening to absolute horse shit being thrown across the bar.

Like GTR I know plenty of players in the high profile leagues around Europe, I would nearly watch any football really and when celtic played Rangers down through the years I would always watch it, other than that I wouldn't throw on any other game from that league.

So you watch football from all across Europe and England yet have no favourite club? that seems very strange to me, Do you actually attend any games?

Ireland and Bohs(not as much as I should) and GAA matches mate.

Not too far from me, no bother, well I do attend games and you don't need me to tell you but watching players in the flesh is totally different to watching them on TV as an armchair pundit.

And you don't need me to tell you that playing EPL each week is a hell of a lot better than playing spl each week, as I said many pages ago on this thread about Brown, if he was as good as some say on here how come he has never gone on anywhere to play at a better level? And I don't buy the loyalty reply as we all know loyalty in modern day footballers isn't worth Jack...

So you've not watched any Scottish football in over 3 years, yet are slagging it off?

I'm sure you'll see why folk will disregard your comments, as they are clearly coming from a position of ignorance.

People don't need to see the LOI to tell you it's in dire straits, calling our league how it is, think some of you should do the same instead of the biased support towards it, Hibs Hearts and Rangers aren't even in your top division ffs, how can you tell me this is good for your league? And how have they ended up where they are? Come off it

Champions league maybe? plus his family went through a rough time so maybe he's happier closer to home.

They are hardly contenders for the champions league now are they? I don't ever even recall Brown being linked to a bigger club, open to correction to that one but he is an average midfielder playing in a league which is a 1 horse race, must be a great feeling to be so ambitious.

First off playing champions league and winning trophies is far better than playing for Everton, secondly as i pointed out his sister tragically died very young and he may want to be close to his family. It is a fact he has been watched by scouts from nearly every premiership club including managers in the flesh, Im certain he had offers on the table as well, that has been well documented. I'm calling you a LIAR!, you do support an English club but don't have the balls to admit it. And you come on the tartan army board and slate our league and Captain, Away back to "Bohs"

Maybe he thinks winning trophies and playing in Europe are more important than a bit of extra cash? It's not like he is on poverty wages at Celtic. I am pretty sure that the only thing he would get more of, by moving to England, would be money. Not all players are driven by the need to earn more money.

I'm completely honesty about the standard of our league, i watch it every week.

For the most part the football is of a decent standard. This season i have seen my team destroy a latvian side, beat a Dutch side and hold their own against a top La Liga side. It's not perfect, it's not on a par with the EPL or La Liga or any of the top leagues in Europe. For a country of 5million people, we're definitely punching above our weight though.

I see players who were abject failures up here, such as Eoin Doyle and Matt Done, banging in goals in the English League One and you coming on here and claiming our league is of a poorer standard than that. Have you ever watched League one football? It's kick and rush, where the strongest and fittest teams prosper. The ball is in the air about 80% of the time. Scottish teams, in the main, at least try and play football. But then you wouldn't have a clue, as you openly admit you never watch it. Yet you expect folk to take your opinion seriously? Do me a favour.

Hearts and Rangers are where they are because they spent money they did not have. Hopefully their relative demises will persuade clubs to live within their means. Hibs are where they are because they are rotten and have made continually poor managerial appointments. Football is and should be a meritocracy. Teams earn the right to be in the top division, the aforementioned 3 have not done so.

Bergkamp was an abject failure in Italy, but a star in England. Forlan failed in England but was a huge success in Spain.

Phil Neville won loads of trophies and played for the biggest club in England, while Alan Shearer only won one trophy, and never played for a big club.

Using what league, or club players play for to judge how good they are is fecking idiotic.

I probably wouldn't go as far as "idiotic" but it's definitely a wee bit Irish. But I suppose it's not easy to change your nationality, unless of course you are McGeady.

Why is that Strange?

I do it regulary as do millions of other people .

They do it because they love football.

Utter nonsense, Millions?.... ye right. Kenny Dalgliesh summed it up better than I can " as a young kid you tend to find a particular player or club who you idolise and that is where you get your love of football " You cant love football and not support a club, i read before that even referees have to declare which club they supported growing up, so this neutral love of football is a load of crap. Even the most hardened GAA lads have a favourite team. The nature of sport is the buzz of winning and losing without it its pointless

Its not utter Nonsense

Did I say you cant love Football and not support club ?

I said you can watch Football in other Leagues and not support any of their clubs ,......which is True

I know people who love Football , dont support a club and only support the National Side here (in a way the National Side is their Club)

I sat and watched Real Madrid V Barcelona the other night - with not a care in the world who won. All I wanted was to see 2 great sides play great football and give me a very enjoyable 90 mins
