You can take a riverboat right up to the North Korean riverbank and buy North Korean goods. I've never been but have seen a few videos on YouTube

I know its a big country, but im willing to travel to quite a few places. Spent two weeks in China five years ago. Did a 9-day trek of the Great Wall, spent a couple of days in Beijing and two days in Xi’an tonsee the Terracotta Warriors via the sleeper train. A fantastic country and a tremendous experience! As it’s so vast then I’ll no go into specific places but I can warn you of a couple of things - When using the public toilets approach the cubicles with caution. They don’t sit on a toilet, it’s just the hole in the ground type and the Chinese have an amazing ability to squat VERY low (you’ll see them resting in the street or at work, they never sit on anything, they always just squat). I’m telling you this because the other thing the don’t do is close the doors so by the time you realise there’s a wee Chinese dude at knee level with his breeks around his ankles you’re almost on top on him! The other thing is eating out. Throughout the meal they’ll hock up big greeners and just gob on the restaurant floor. A wee wifie will come out every now and again with a mop to clean it up but it’s a bit off putting to say the least. The old Chinese custom of never queuing takes a bit of getting used to as well. Despite those points, one of the best trips ever! 👍🏼

kumnio
Pretty much decided my itinerary. Shanghai, Beijing, Korea, Beijing, Xian, Guilin, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Shanghai. Not looking forward to toilets, or restaurants if the above is true. Giving me the boak just thinking about it.

Aye the restaurant thing is bad like! 😩 On the plus side, the food is fantastic! It’s nothing like here (imagine eating Chinese takeaways twice a day for 2 weeks!), it’s completely different over there. And get practicing with chop-sticks as loads of restaurants don’t do cutlery! Lived in Liaoning and Dongguan for a bit. Always meant to go to Yunnan (Dali etc) but never got round to it. All the best with the food.
