  1. Crazy talk. McLean's a great player who will only get better. Not so fussed about Reynolds mind you.
  2. All drams are free once you're in as they wont be full measures, just tasting samples. if you're interested in whisky id recommend it as there aren't many better opportunities to try so many different things in one afternoon. tickets sell ridiculously quickly once they go on sale so you'll need to be quick.
  3. Same old story, doesn't seem to matter who the manager is. Guy playing consistently well over 2-3 seasons, even captaining his team to a trophy, gets left out for the latest Celtic five minute wonder.
  4. Took me two hours but got in eventually. Very poor from the web hosts.
  5. Entries for the Mull of Kintyre half and 10k open tmrw. Regularly lauded as one of the most picturesque half marathons in the uk ??
  6. Probably because the approximate (at this stage only based on polls) 50% of the population who still aren't convinved to vote Yes in a referendum wouldn't be too keen on having it unilaterally forced upon them. As others have said, the 2014 referendum set the precedent and that's how we'll eventually get independence.
  7. Pro-independence parties may be polling at 60% but support for independence itself is only just pushing 50%.
  8. Reminds me of a boy I used to play football with, who came out with the classic: "See you ya prik, you're a fanny".
  9. Teams have sussed out that the way to beat the Dons is to sit in and invite them on, be strong and phyiscal and eventually Aberdeen resort to trying to hump the ball into the box but don't have the forwards to play like that. County got it spot on tonight, whereas teams earlier in the season weren't quite so well organised and compact. Aberdeen really rely on Jonny Hayes to be creative and when it doesn't come off for him the whole team struggles.
  10. In terms of Strachan, I just wish he'd be a wee bit more positive. Maybe it's just his personality but he never seems all that enthusiastic in interviews, whether talking about his own future or anything to do with the players. Surely the constant downplaying of ability that we get from in interviews has an effect on players? I'd rather read my manager telling the press and public that I was a great player - even if the message in private is different - than to hear him tell the world that me and my team mates aren't good enough.
  11. I'd like to see this team or something similar start to take shape before the first qualifier: Marshall Paterson, Martin, Hanley, Robertson McArthur, Jack Gauld, Armstrong, Bannan Griffiths With guys like James Morrison, Naismith, S Fletcher, Craig Gordon in the squad to add experience where required. You'd then have the likes of Shinnie, Anya, Johnnie Russell and Forrest who aren't too young but have a point to prove, with youngsters or newcomes like Scott Bain, Ryan Fraser, Jordan McGhee, Souttar, Telfer, Ryan Christie pushing for starts.
  12. We're not going to be "throwing away" any "good" players. We'd be saying thanks for your efforts to a group of guys who, despite playing together for a good few years now and trying their best, just aren't good enough, proven time after time. Keep a spine in place in the team or squad - keeper, Martin and Hanley (no immediate successors in defence anyway), McArthur, Naismith, Morrison and S Fletcher. Then get the young guys who haven't been infected with the "draw away from home is always good" malaise in and let them learn from the guys who have been in a few squads and, more importantly, from the experiences they'll get from actually playing. Being in the squad isn't much use in learning how to play against the good teams, you've got to get out and do it. There's zero chance of qualifying for 2018 with the current squad anyway so keep the ones who have time on their side, or who we don't have any real replacements for, and let Armstrong, Jack, Paterson, Robertson, Shinnie and whoever else is out there come in and get on with it for a campaign and they'll either be in a good place for a crack at 2020 or have proved that they're no use either, in which case we move on to the next batch or give up completely.
  13. Change as many as we can get away with. This group of players aren't exactly qualifying for anything so we're not going to be any worse off. From last night's starting XI I'd keep Marshall, Martin, Hanley, Forrest, Ritchie and S Fletcher about the squad, if not necessarily the team. The rest should all be phased out and replaced with younger players. I'd rather see a young team missing out on qualification but gaining experience than the same old haddies plodding on. As discussed on Off the Ball last night, players like Whittaker, Hutton, Brown and Maloney might be earnest triers but their abilities are limited. Lets get some youngsters in and see if gaining experience can take them to a higher level - we're not exactly aimining to win the championships but even a playoff would be progress.
  14. Ooft! I was back in Campbeltown for 1am and that's about 150 miles. Parked at Crossmyloof station area - bit of a hike back to the car but traffic wasn't too bad on the way back to the M8.
  15. Respectfully disagree. If we win on Thursday it'll emphasise how much of a disaster losing in Georgia was as we'd be home and hosed in second place otherwise.
  16. Saving some of them for the Samoa game? Or going with as physical a team as he can?
  17. Aside from the stuff about policing etc, the thing that strikes me from your post is the amount of arseholes who can't go to a game or gig without being steaming and getting involved in a fight. It's a disgrace that a fight can break out at a football match, never mind a comedy gig.
  18. Agreed. The curse of players going down for nothing coming back to haunt them yet it's apparently the physio's fault.
  19. That was some miss. Looks to have fired rangers up a bit.
  20. Am I right in thinking that his problem was that the player had gone down basically to waste time and that by running on to treat him so quickly it meant that he had to go off the park, temporarily reducing them to 9 men? Not that his actions can be excused in any way but it's slightly different to his disputing whether an injured player is fit to carry on or not.
  21. What's the scoop with Craig Bryson? Seemed to be going great guns not so long ago but has dropped out of the picture at Derby.
  22. I think that if it's 0-0 with 25 minutes left then as long as Ireland aren't getting anything from Germany we're more likely to see Strachan putting on a couple of defenders rather than a second striker.
  23. The National Theatre of Scotland do a stage version, which is excellent. Saw it in London last year and was really impressed. I believe they've taken it to New York now (not Broadway) and it seems to be getting good reviews. I've also read the book and watched the Swedish film but haven't seen the US remake yet.
