  1. Past hour
  2. Johnston has come on with 15 mins to go and his team in the lead. If it stays as is he’ll have a league and cup double in his first season there.
  3. If anyone has any going give me a shout looking for 4 all in. i know its a long shot and will no doubt end up going thru a ticket site.
  4. Yip, there's an early flight out to Warsaw on the 17th so might just book that as plenty of time to get around then book the return flight dependant on where the game is
  5. Massive protests in that famously anti-semitic city, Tel Aviv
  6. Over in Austria, Bowat is starting for Hartberg who are on course for Conference League qualification in the last game of his loan spell. Johnston on the bench for Sturm Graz who need a goal to win the title. no Irving for Klagenfurt as he’s suspended so had already played his last game for the club before heading to West Ham in the summer.
  7. 'working against the economic policies of Liz Truss' sounds like exactly what an independent central bank is for and although normally you'd give some licence to the 'democratically elected government', in the case of the Truss policies, no one had voted for them or, if I remember, they had not had much scrutiny in parliament either
  8. The far right Tories are constantly complaining about the BoE being independent , its been going on for a while. If they had their way it would still be under government control in the same way they would gladly abolish the Scottish parliament. This current whinge from them is just another excuse being served up to detract from the mismanagement of the economy by the Tories. This paragraph alone should have folk laughing in the aisles. I agree that the BoE’s slow reaction to putting up UK interest rate rises will , to a degree, have contributed to high inflation in recent years, but to say they are to blame is ludicrous. IMO this is just another distraction and blame tactic in the hope of stemming voter attrition .
  9. He's not played for months. Wasn't a standout beforehand (and I'm saying that as someone who likes him!) when he did play. I'd be very surprised if he was selected.
  10. Yes but merely pointing out players of their ilk that are not going to be in our plans in the years ahead I feel whereas Doak and Barron are potentially long-term options.
  11. Today
  12. One thing I've learned from this place is there will always be someone who'll keep you right. 😉
  13. Be fair to them, it isn't every year they win the league.
  14. Ah you’re right, really need to brush up on my Euros history!! 😂
  15. Very true. That Yugoslavian side is a whole other conversation, what a side!! Amazing what Croatia have achieved and continue to do since they became independent, with a population of 4 million people.
  16. They qualified for Euro '88 too, albeit they had a pretty crap tournament, and only narrowly lost out on qualification for Italia '90 and USA '94. 🤓
  17. Doak back in full training but not on bench today. I would be surprised if he’s picked in squad
  18. Doig will not be selected ahead of Taylor and according to reports Clarke has given up hope of Hickey being fit so either McCrorie or Johnston will be in as back-up (maybe both before one misses out)). If reports are to be believed Doak and Barron will be brought in and Armstrong's inclusion looks increasingly unlikely.
  19. Popcorn time A helicopter in a convoy carrying the Iranian president has been involved in an accident, state media is reporting. It is currently unclear whether Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was on board the helicopter that state media say experienced a hard landing. The Interior Minister said rescuers were still trying to reach the site due to the difficult weather conditions.
  20. Two pretty contrasting players!
  21. Sure, but failing to qualify applies to many nations. Have any others reached finals but failed to get through the group stages as much as us?
  22. One simple reason - moral arguments aside - is that our government is involved, our weapons and/or aid, our representatives and our taxes are involved. So we are involved in that sense, in a way that we are not involved in, say, East Timor or Xinjiang. So, keeping abreast of things seems reasonable. You could say all marches are futile, you could say all argument on the internet - whether politics or football - is futile; if so, you don't need to do it (as Alan Partridge nearly said). Part of the reason I started this thread was that there was at one point more argument about the rights and wrongs of Eurovision than what actually happening in Gaza. But people are free to argue about Eurovision too 🙂
  23. Why is Gaza getting so much attention, but so many conflicts are just ignored. Terrible things are happening on every continent, well apart from Oceania and Antartica, but we never hear of them. Ive always been pretty much Pro Palestine and Anti Israel, but Im bored of seeing it now. This will never stop, there will be no permanent peace, there will be no moving forward. There are two opposing sides who will never agree on anything substantial. The killings might stop for a week, a month or so eventually, then it will resume. We can argue about the rights and the wrongs, but its utterly futile. None of this makes any difference, the world doesn't care about a wee march in Edinburgh, or what some guy on the internet thinks. This will only stop when everyone is dead. Happy Sunday.
  24. Well that is media speculation. But to be fair I would far sooner go down this route than go for a David Turnbull or Ryan Jack-type. We must start thinking of looking to new and younger options. Okay Turnbull is not too old but sooner we looked to players who promise more.
  25. I would not worry so.much about that given that the Old Firm turned their noses up at John McGinn, Ryan Porteous, Aaron Hickey, Lewis Ferguson and Sott McKeena to name but a few.
