Democracy Day

Apparently it's Democracy Day on the BBC

There's even a link to an old article on Scotland referendum

Elsewhere there's a democracy ranking here

Interesting to see so many small/northern European countries in the top places some way ahead of UK

In this country you will still find a story about bishops under "Politics"!

26 Church of England bishops fill the House of Lords...

Its only democracy day as it is celebrating the anniversary of the opening of the English parliament. F'ing typical bet they do nothing for the opening of the scoffing parliament or the union of the parliaments

Only Iran and the UK have un-elected clerics in the legislature. Nowhere else in the world.

It's puzzling to understand how this has survived so long and there is no hint that anyone is proposing changing it. Why does the Church of England have so many bishops in the House of Lords? Is there a spread of other religions too? Even if accepting for the time being we have Lords, and that we have religious Lords, why do we need so many representatives from the same Church? How many Sikhs, Buddhists, Pagans, Scientologists get a seat there?

There are no Sikh representatives (or even proper Protestants) for the simple reason that the queen is not head of the Sikhs (or even a proper Protestant church - despite the orange worship).

BBC reporting today that the UK government is the most transparent when it comes to revealing data to the public.

As an example of this, they are reporting that Nick Robinson knows what will be in a letter sent from Mister Chilcot to the PM.

Super Nick reports that the release of Chilcot Report will be delayed until after the general election.

Hurrah for democracy and transparency. Makes one proud to be british.

Happy democracy day everybody.

Oh, interesting.

Was not what Henry VIII created, protestants?
