OLAS
....but will not be punished unless Motherwell FC don't actively find the fans who invaded the pitch and threw flares? http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/35527397 Seems farcical as usual from the bigwigs. sbcmfc
The best bit in the SPFL statement is the bit where they criticise Motherwell for not giving Rangers more tickets. We really should've let them win too!

So Rangers will be getting fined also for when Hibs requested more tickets and were refused for the play off yet there was nowhere near a full house at the match

Just a list of things they need to do to avoid a repeat. Hopefully top of that list is, don't finish 11th! They'll make scapegoats of a few kids and everyone will be happy. adamntg
I wonder if Celtic will be punished for the smoke bombs and the bottle thrown at the ref yesterday?
OLAS
I wonder if Celtic will be punished for the smoke bombs and the bottle thrown at the ref yesterday? With all the flare incidents Celtic fans have been part of, surely they'll be getting the book thrown at them in August 2043* *Unless a wee fall-guy goes to jail for 6 months. adamntg
The smoke bomb was a bit meh, but the bottle at the ref, I was surprised they didn't stop the game.

sbcmfc
I was at the game in the main stand and it was Rangers fans who threw the flare on and promptly left. But that Rangers fan wouldn't have been in a Motherwell section if we'd let them have the whole stadium... There was certainly wrongdoing by Motherwell fans. Mainly the pitch invasion, although I'm not sure there is much the club can do? They announced several times "do not leave the stands.." They had stewards 3 deep, but folk know they (stewards) can't actually do much. The police didn't appear for their dressage practice on the horses until the pitch was cleared. bruce778
I like how this thread has been spun to focus on anything but the pitch invasion and goading by Motherwell fans. Seems to me Motherwell has been let off very lightly.

bruce778
I was at the game in the main stand and it was Rangers fans who threw the flare on and promptly left. The issue is motherwells failure to identify the fan and failure to steward properly. If it was a Rangers fan then Motherwell failed to stop him having access to the home end, failed to stop him getting in with a flare, failed to stop him throwing the flare and have subsequently failed to identify him. That's the issue.

Squirrelhumper
As for clubs failing to stop bad behaviour. What's Rangers excuse for 1000s singing sectarian songs? Funny how there's never any repercussions for that eh?

Robroysboy
It was interesting to read of a young motherwell fan getting 5 months in jail for setting off a flare at new Douglas park. He didn't help himself by getting caught attending the corresponding fixture at fir park whole banned. Even so still seems a bit harsh as he had no previous convictions. Have any celtic fans or any other clubs fans been jailed for their pyrotechnics?

slasher
I love how fans on here can't wait to get fans of other clubs into trouble. Like primary school kids the lot of you. There's no moral high ground for anyone, we've all got our problem elements....so get over yourselves!
Donaldo87
I don't think anyone is trying to gloss over the fans running onto the pitch and goading the rangers fans. We're having a laugh at the batshit spfl statement. How dare we leave sections of the south stand empty?! Aye I do think we've dodged a bullet but any fine would likely be deferred. Needless to say eyes will be on Fir Park for our last home game of the season and I hope the fannies for once just stay in the stand. In this day and age, if we can get WiFi to 52,000 people at once, surely we can have a few extra high definition cameras for crowd control?
