wheres the pies
Should we take any notice of the bbc exit poll after the polls have closed on Thursday think they only got it wrong with the 92 general election
thplinth
I would not trust a thing the BBC says or does at this point. I sincerely hope we have some other truly independent people taking exit polls on the day to cross check the result.
Toepoke
I said on here this one could be like 92 though (hope not) ie people saying in exit polls that they voted Labour/Yes but in fact they voted Tory/No...
thplinth
Neil Kinnock was simply unelectable in 92 despote a hugely unpopular Tory government. That is why it swung back on the day.
jailender
Why bother paying attention to exit polls? The actual result will be announced about 5 hours later. I think folk tell exit pollsters what they want to hear, one way or another.
giblet
heard there are no exit polls planned.
perthTam
Probably worth noticing - by then they cannot influence the voters any more.
Jie Bie
Exit polls are particularly effective in UK general elections as they can deploy pollsters at those 50-100 or so marginal constituencies who decide the final result, which is a very different scenario to Thursday's vote. Rossy
I'd trust social media far more than exit polls. Twitter picked up the SNP majority in the last Scottish government elections far faster than the MSM....it was all over social media by 10 at night. I suspect Thursday might well be the same.....we'll have a good idea by 22.00 how things are going.
Jacobite
I can remember when Jim Sillars won in Govan,Gordon Wilson came into the campaign office at 10 to 10 and told us we had won and gave us an approx majority that was pretty close to the actual result. Padre Andrew
I'd trust social media far more than exit polls. I suspect Thursday might well be the same.....we'll have a good idea by 22.00 how things are going. Sod it. Now I won’t be able to go to bed on Friday. I’ve done the all-nighters in the past, but I’m not just able for it now. Thought I would try and catch a few hours’ kip and then wake up to the result. Now I’ll be on FB and TAMB all night trying to read the runes. Edited September 15, 2014 by Padre Andrew
