Maq
Either Guinea or Mali will progress in the CAF on the drawing of lots on a Thursday, after having identical records, drawing their games 1-1! http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/30910026 You always hear in tournaments the threat of deciding things this way, but I think this is the 1st time I've actually seen it happen? Surely there must be a fairer way of settling it than this! I know in tournament football that timings are tight, and it's hard to rearrange things and get venues sorted etc, but c'mon - drawing lots?! Surely they could sort a 15min each half game, or penalty shoot out? Cruel way to go out of a tournament
broono83
There's been something like 12 draws in th ACON so far and 9 or so 1-1s. Very fishy.
Toepoke
Seem to recall us being very close to doing this in Italia 90. You just know we'd have found that new method of elimination
adamntg
Celtic won their 1969 European Cup qf against Benfica on the toss of a coin.
McTeeko
Italia 90 - Holland and Ireland drew lots to see who finished 2nd and 3rd in the group stage. They were both going through anyway but this obviously determined their next round opponents.

redstevie007
Maybe the ref should just take a couple of straws out to the centre circle at Hampden on Sunday at kick off and save any bother?

sbcmfc
Protestant straws or...............? Was their not a story a few years back that Rangers had removed all the green straws at their food kiosks? About the same time as the Pepperami story, but before the eggs benedict one...
