  1. I would say a decent start for the three games. Last night made up for some of the disappointment of the first two games, my only concern is Clarke is too cautious and slow to react. The only reason he changed at half-time in Tel Aviv was due to them scoring, if it was 0-0, he would have came out with the same side until the 65th minute. But if you look at qualifying in the other groups, they are all wide open. Germany losing 2-1 at home to Macedonia ; Armenia with 9pts ; Romania beating Macedonia, makes their group almost a four team group. You'd imagine Germany would go on from this. Ukraine as well - a very decent side and some excellent youngsters coming through, were held 1-1 at home to Kazakhstan. They are sitting on 3pts after playing 2 home games - Finland and last night. They probably have the quality to go on and win away and possibly get second, but no doubt their fans will be frustrated at their start. Then you've got Slovenia - beat Croatia in their first game, a huge scalp and a derby win but lose to Cyprus on Tuesday night. Greece get a great point in Spain and then fail to beat Georgia at home (who are an improving side). Turkey with two great wins over Holland and Norway then draw 3-3 with Latvia (who are hopeless of late) at home. So its a bit all over the place at the moment the qualifying. My main issue with Clarke being too cautious and slow to change it up. Denmark are a very decent side as shows, and a lot can change in football in three months and especially with a virus like Covid or injuries in 6 months time.
  2. A very good win indeed. Although we did struggle a bit after scoring early on. The Faroes are a decent side. Just look at their recent record, very rarely are they pumped these days. The Faroese Champions were 45 minutes away from making the group stages of the Europa League this year, I've been laughed at for this, but they are the best football team in the world per population in my opinion. A country the size of Arbroath, unbelievable. So fair dues to them, they played a bit of football and had a go. Adams was very good. He's nailed on now as the starter with those three performances. I was a little worried at his couple of scuffed attempts in the first two matches, fearing we had found another hard worker who cannot score, but that was a lovely finish. I don't like to put down players, but you can see the difference between him and Dykes - who did well in spells, but ultimately I fear he's probably not consistently good enough for international level and a starting spot every time. Tierney - outstanding. Three brilliant games. Thankfully I missed the Israeli away game when he scored the OG in the Nations League a few years back, but I'm generally struggling to think of a bad game from him for us, and for the anthem singing (I'm joking) but when we played Holland under MacKay 0-1 loss, he was captain and I mind him singing it then, so for the KT 100% package, make him captain and he'll sing I'm fair havering on, but that was a shite attempt at a joke.. There is still worries about the defence overall though, and a better side probably would have scored at some point last night. Gordon did well when called upon, I'm really torn over the goalkeeping position. Marshall has generally been very good for us but he's prone to the odd blunder in general, although he's been out of sorts with his club too, so let's see what the next few months brings but its between him, Gordon and I'd have Liam Kelly as our third keeper. McGregor fecked off, so he can GTF. Kenny McLean had a solid performance as well. Picking the 23 for the Euros might actually be quite difficult on who gets dropped. A decent-ish start, although not winning one of the Israeli or Austrian games is a disappointment, but considering the way qualifying in general is going and Denmark winning 4-0 in Vienna last night, along with Israeli strolling in Chisnau ; there will be more twists in this group. Qualifying is far from over, yes dropping points especially at home was disappointing, but if we get something in Denmark, beat Moldova and then again get something in Vienna, I reckon we'll be in a decent position with - Denmark, Moldova, Israel all to come at home and the Faroes in Tórshavn.. You'd hope some form of crowd at Hampden, and you never know, might well be enough.. A long way to go and a Euros to focus on, but overall a 6.5 out of 10 for the three games.
  3. If its anything to go by, qualifying looks extremely open in many groups. Imagine we were Slovenia - beat Croatia at home follow that up with a 1-0 loss in Cyprus. Or Turkey - hammer Holland 4-2 ; and again hump Norway 3-0 only to be held at home to Latvia.
  4. Sorry to hear that Slasher and Tidy. I struggle with sleep as well and its a real pain in the arse. I've tried a few things - no phones/laptops/TV watching in the bedroom ; fasting ; no caffeine or juice after 6pm etc ; sleeping pills and nothing has really worked. The pills worked to an extent or in small doses and not too often, but the first 2 hours of the next day are taxing, yawning and feel like a zombie. I will find a way of falling asleep usually, but I wake up every 3-4 hours - I tried a sleep apnea review thing but was told I didn't have it, but maybe should try again? Anyone who struggles with sleep has my sympathy has a huge and vital part of our life and its no fun at all to be tossing and turning, it affects everything from your mental health to be being able to do your job, or enjoy life. My main issue is I cannot shut off my brain. And its not worry, or even anything fun or stimulating racking my mind ; its just random, mundane shite that no one should be giving extra thoughts too. One thing I found that worked was edible CDB/THC, half a 50mg gummy will help me relax and drift away yet I cannot do that legally in Scotland or do I want to rely on that or getting in to that routine daily.
  5. Ideally would love to ask who you are voting for in both the constituency and the list; but I can only ask one question so I'd rather focus on the regional list. Feel free to post your constituency vote in the thread (if you wish) and what area your list/region is. Angus South - SNP Constituency ; NE Scotland - list and undecided on that front.
  6. SOD is a good lad, and has never let us down, IMO. I would pick him ahead of Palmer every single time. He is fairly limited as a player, but his work race, ball distribution is usually very good. I really hope him and Considine go to the Euros! A brilliant story for both, and shows you what hard work, commitment and dedication can do for you.
  7. I reckon whoever takes maximum points in Moldova, Israel and the Faroes will win the group. Denmark have done it, so its over to us. A draw is not the end of the world considering we've got the Danes twice and we'll see what Austria-Denmark do on Wednesday; but we really could do with a win! It'll be a tough game and they've shown in our past encounters, that there's nothing between us. To state the obvious, if you want to go to the World Cup then you need to beat teams like Israel away!
  8. A spirited performance and overall, we did well to come back twice; and considering how it was looking, i was happy to pinch a draw. If we can get over our hoodoo and win in Israel, tonight will have been a good result. Denmark won 4 drew 4 in Euro qualifying, so we shouldn't fear them. Ultimately I think it'll end up coming down to who gets wins in Moldova, Israel and the Faroes - for the top spots.
  9. WTF is so baffling about that post? Whoever gave me the funny pusses?!
  10. Shstel on Netflix about the Orthodox Jewish community in Jersualem. Great acting, touching, and funny as well. New season comes out on Thursday.
  11. Almost mirrors the stereotypical psyches of these two nations.
  12. Tierney has to start a LWB. Can we not even play them both and switch around throughout the game, the best game for this would have been the Faroes but no doubt one of them will be out for that. Tierney was a much better threat in that position when we played there against Slovakia in November, than Robertson had been in the previous few he played there.
  13. The Austria news is obviously a huge boost for us, but then again we really struggled to beat a Czechia C team under similar circumstances. Although in a way, its almost an even trade off : we get a home game that would have been rammed probably (having just qualified for a tournament) or we get a weakened team in our empty stadium. I'm a bit worried about upfront, TBH, and none of our main men are in form at all. If Dykes turned out to be a David Healy type player e.g an absolute hero for his country and mediocre for his clubs, then I'll be happy with that ; but have no idea who we put up front at all going on form! Austria 2-1 win. We'll concede at some point, and it'll be very a tough game. We'll hopefully get ourselves over the line and we really should be aiming for three points considering the number of players who will be missing. If we stink the place out but win, I'll be happy TBH, to just get off to a start. Israel - we really struggle here and you could argue against them. I'd happily take a draw, but fear we'll end up losing 2-0 or so. Faroes - ever-improving and they will be a hard opponent. We'll hopefully manage to win 3-0 and it'll be a decent week, but could have been better.
  14. I agree about Austria, I could see us taking 3 pts of Denmark - a win at home, loss away. Austria is a huge game, so if we could get off to a stormer would be perfect.
  15. What's wrong with the interview? I thought it was quite good and right. One game at a time is the right mentality and it is a tough group! We were lucky to qualify - winning two penalty shoot outs. The Israeli game we were honking too ; although we did deserve to beat Serbia and played very well. The two games after it were incredibly disappointing - TBE a bit of a lull after such a huge night in Belgrade ; but we basically blew an open goal of getting in to Pot 1 with the Nations League. Probably better we didn't go up as getting pumped by Pot 1 teams is less useful than playing sides around our level, but still, those two losses put a bit of a dampener on how good we are - and with a goal scoring issue I am bit fearful of how we'll do in these next few games. The Austria game, we should be hoping to win that. They are a good side, but if we are to have any chance in this group, we need to take 6/4/3 pts from them in this group.
  16. We really should just give that part of 'Scotland' to England or as halfway customs house like that Kent lorry park. Rugby bumpkins too.
  17. I love the big man. You'll get the hipsters slagging him no doubt, but he's done a marvelous job at County - hope he keeps them up!
  18. I think Hendry has certainly earned his chance at a squad place and hopefully will see some action at some point - preferably after two wins and comes on in the 60th minute when we are 3-0 up against the Faroes. He had a bit of a mare at Celtic, but not writing the laddie off, and he's still reasonably younger. Hopefully Oostende can keep up their run and get in to the CL!
  19. Fair dues to him for stepping down, he'll still be seen as a legend once the dust settles a bit. What about AVB for Celtic?
  20. Agree. Would be a move backwards. I imagine he's fairly settled in Portuguese, he speaks the language and I have a Portuguese pal who I let hear it and he said his pronunciation is brilliant and speaks the language well. Wonder if he would go back to Sporting, Benfica or Boavista etc if they came in for him. If not, maybe Spain, Italy or Germany might be a good move. Still, its brilliant that he's getting plaudits. I really hope he is in the squad for March and gets his first cap.
  21. Arbroath have another Rangers lad on loan, Ben Williamson. I've seen 5 of their streams and he's been outstanding. He is tall and slight, but he does everything very well - passing, breaking up play, controlling and tackling. Its the Championship, but its no surprise that since his arrival, the side have now steadied the ship and gone six games undefeated.
  22. Rectify - might find it online. It's from about 2011 to 2015 or so. About a young man who was convicted of a murder at 16 and his release at 38 or so. Not a huge fan of the murder, neo noir mystery stuff ; but the acting by pretty much everyone in this is brilliant. Absolutely not selling it, but its probably one of the best series' I have seen in the last ten years. Shtisel - drama about an Orthodox family of Jews in Jerusalem. It's in Hebrew and Yiddish. A culture I know very little about it, so I don't know how good it is, but what started as a bit of a surprise watch ended up loving it. Again, some really, really funny moments and brilliant touching scenes too.
  23. I grew up in a street where everybody kent everyone, and it felt like one big party(just at a different house) each night til about the 3rd or 4th (or the last Sunday before the Monday going back to school/work). There's still ceilidhs, and I know folk who still do the traditions ; but even 20-30 years ago, Christmas was a lot less in your face as it is now, but I think that's Americanisation in general really, pals in Iceland have said its changing here too. I've always liked Boxing Day for the fitba.
  24. Its one of the saddest things for me, and I'm in my mid 30s seeing a lot of the New Year traditions basically die out. Opening the back door and then the front to let the new year in ; a dark haired guest after the bells ; the Dook on the 1st and parties in the street for what felt like a week or so.
  25. THAT accent too, he sounds like the Glasgow uni squad these days.
