ParisInAKilt
The links above say you can't compare a governments budget to a personal one. And that's why austerity in the UK's case is nonsense.
Wibble
Austerity is just another word for "more spending cuts" during the next 5 years. The public dont understand government debt - and the Tories use this fear to drive their right wing agenda. If there was one issue that won the Tories a majority here in England , it was undoubtedly the fear/threat/promise of a Labour + SNP partnership, particularly in the South and East. It dominated the Tories' pre-election campaign and, in a way, was the 21st Century equivalent of the Jacobites' march through England, 250 years' ago. The 'bogey-(wo)man' had traditional, xenophobic, 'Rule Britannia-loving' England, shitin' themselves; whereas Ms Sturgeon's stance and intent, resonated and was warmly welcomed by those who give a shite about the poorest in society who are struggling. It will be a long, five years for hundreds of thousands of ordinary people.
Orraloon
It's common sense. It's actually common ignorance.
