The free travel zone is not that far from Cologne. So we're just going to catch the normal train service (takes an extra 10-15 mins than the ICE service) to arrive in Dortmund for midday. Just have to pay a few euros each to edge of zone!! :ok:

Where would you say that free travel kicks in then on Re train ?.

For the free travel do we just use our match ticket on the trains or do we have to pre-book at the station and show them our match ticket to get a train one ?

you just use yer match ticket - the free travel confirmation is printed under the seat (platz) number

Still unclear. Do you take your match ticket to a train ticket office or just walk straight on the train?

Just board the train. There are no barriers at any of the stations, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Dortmund. If a ticket inspector asks, showing your game ticket suffices.

Free travel only for regional trains such as RE, RB, S Bahn.

Not for ICE, IC, etc.

If you board train at CGN you need a ticket to Langenfeld only as VRR area starts there.

Realise what trains are OK and NOK, appreciate it wasn't communicated very well (had done so on numerous other threads before the board was wiped).

The Cologne reference was meant as regards there are no barriers etc. at those main stations.
