  1. Exactly this! First dibs to those who do the hard yards. Its not rocket science. Epic fail........
  2. I prefer Candy. Reminds me of Prague.....
  3. Big Sauce is a class act. He has that winning mentality you get when you play for a big club. Agreed his performances in dark blue havent always been brilliant. But thats more a reflection of the players he has been playing with and/or the role he has been asked to do more than anything else. I love the fact that he will happily play anywhere for Scotland and give it his best shot regardless of whether its his preferred position or not. That said, I really hope Clarke finds a way to get him into the team alongside McGinn in those advanced roles. Thats where our main goal threat comes from.
  4. There are some very good immitations kicking around for a lot less money! 😉
  5. Jesus! Thats a big carrot! Lets win the group! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
  6. Beating Spain at home was huge. If we win our remaining home games and beat Cyprus away we qualify as the other 3 have to cut their own throats regardless of what way those games go. Of course its always nice to have a wee insurance policy just in case, so a draw in Oslo or Georgia would really take the pressure off.
  7. If you are looking for something to keep you out the pub for a couple of hours, you could do worse than take a tram ride out to Vigelin Park. Its famous for its sculptures that line the various boulevards that run towards its centrepoint, which is the massive "Survival of the Fittest" sculpture. Its quite cool if you like that sort of thing. If the weathers good, take a carry out with you!
  8. I think big Porteous would relish the challenge!
  9. Ian Rush would probably agree with that!
  10. Porteous was immense last night. He is a master shithouser and was in his element last night when Spain started their antics! Singing the national anthem at a corner was a master stroke! 😄😄😄
  11. A pissing wet night under the lights at Hampden! Perfect! 💙💙💙
  12. Gilmour should take advantage of recent publicity to force a move to Italy. He has the technical ability to thrive there. Edit - beat me too it Slasher! 😄
  13. I presume because its a commemorative top. We got a new away kit last year when the home one was launched.
  14. Get yer arse out to Italy Billy! Forza Scozia! 🇮🇹🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇮🇹🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇮🇹
  15. On the documentary, thought it was an excellent watch. Love how they have all embraced the culture and look at home in their new surroundings. Should stand them and the National Team in good stead going forward. Ive always been surprised that Liam Henderson has never featured in any of Clarkes squads. I always thought he looked a decent player and if he is holding down a place in Serie A, he must have a bit about him. Going forward, I think Billy Gilmour could do worse than get his arse out there. With his technical ability I think he could do very well out there.
  16. The biggest issue for me is how out of touch with reality the SFA and Adidas are. I get that they will be very pleased with themselves about the fact that they sold out so quickly despite the price, but surely they want to sell as many of these shirts as possible? If they lowered the price and made them widely available they would make just as much money and their product would be much more widely on display. The way they have done it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth and leaves them looking like mercenary barstewards. I thought the SFA had learned this lesson, but clearly not.

Any news, gossip, rumours as to where this is likely to be played or when a decision will be made?
  18. Having watched Liam Kelly all season, he is nowhere near the form he was in a year ago when he should have been given gametime against Poland or Austria. Id be very concerned if we are going into the March games with him as our no.1, and I really like the guy! For me if we are not going to ask Davy Marshall out of retirement, then you really are looking at Xander Clark. I havent seen enough of him at Hearts to know how his form is, but he is the only other option. Id personally put the Gunn thing to bed. He obviously feels english so thats fine. I have no problem with English born players with a Scottish bloodline playing for Scotland, my own nephews are english born, but Scotland daft, but they need to feel it and want it. Gunn obviously doesnt so we move on.
  19. For most Scots, playing for your country is a big deal. Giving a player a first cap in a game that doesnt matter, gives them the opportunity to take all the emotion out of it, get that hurdle out of the way and let them focus on their football when it really matters. Its the reason teams often get to Cup Finals and the game passes them by and why young players (on the whole) get better with age. Experience matters. Not saying any of the reserve goalies should have played instead of Gordon. He is our best keeper and I wouldnt deny him caps. But Clarke could have and should have given them 45 mins in at least one of the 3 games.
  20. I wouldnt be writing off Craig Gordon just yet. It will be a difficult one to come back from at his age, no doubt. But he has faced tough challenges before and come through. I wish him all the best. As a Motherwell fan, Im pretty surprised at the positivity surrounding Liam Kelly. Im delighted we have him at club level, but Ive never been convinced he was the required level for international football. Also, anyone who thinks he is comfortable with the ball at his feet hasnt been watching us this season. His distribution has been terrible at times. A good squad goalkeeper maybe, but I dont fancy him as our no.1. If I was Clarke Id be begging Davy Marshall to come out of retirement for the March games. They are too important to be throwing in an untested rookie.
  21. I think the only advantage to this happening (other than it being a home tournament if we qualify) would be the opportunity to finally renovate Hampden to a higher standard. I think Glasgow City Council have already said they would earmark money for it, with some Scotgov money and whatever the SFA could raise, we might finally get a decent north stand and a better view from behind the goals!
  22. I think Steve Clarke will have learned a lot from last night. The problem for me is that they were lessons he should have already known the answers to. The first and main one is that 3 at the back doesnt work for us anymore. It makes us too slow and predictable and leaves us a man short in midfield. It was no surprise that we looked much better when we switched to a 4. The gauling thing is that it took us to 2-0 down to accept it and make the change. Ryan Fraser at wingback will never work apart from against significantly inferior opposition where his defensive duties wont be subject to the same level of inspection. We should have started with Ramsay last night and if the manager didnt think he was up to it, we should have draughted in a replacement when Patterson pulled out. Of course the alternative could have been to play a 4 from the start and play Jack Hendry there. Next, Grant Hanley has regressed back to pre Euro 2020 Grant Hanley. Unlikely that he will get any better so why not give Porteous another run out to see if he can develop into a higher calibre centre half? The keeper situation. Happy to see Gordon add to his caps total, but one of the others should have got the second half. I accept that it wouldnt make either of them a better keeper, but it gets the first cap thing out of the way and psychologically allow them to concentrate on their game should the time come when we have to throw them in. John McGinn has to be played in the advanced role for Scotland at all times. He was a shadow of the player we know he can be in the first half, but his run and finish for the goal were magnificent. He is our most likely goal threat and we should play him as such. In midfield, we really miss Callum McGregor. Gilmour might get there but right now he really needs first team football. He gave the ball away way too much. I was surprised Ferguson didnt get the shout there given his promising start in Italy. Up front, big Dykes is a good outball and a bit of a battering ram, but he lacks that bit of pace necessary to get on the end of things. Ultimately he was the only option available last night which made Shanklands omission very surprising given he has played way more football than Jacob Brown. Not sure whether Brown is any good or not,but I wouldnt judge him on last night as he got little time to make any impact. Overall, very disappointed in the first half performance which I felt was self inflicted by the line up and tactics, not to mention poor defending for the first goal. Much more encouraged by the second half performance, just disamayed it took until 2-0 down to sort ourselves out. We should have had at least 1 penalty as I thought both Dykes and McKenna were fouled in the first incident and the Lewis Ferguson one is a stone waller as well with a 3 man tag team taking him out. We probably didnt quite deserve the draw, but I would have taken it. Overall verdict C-
  23. Personally, I think its down to how the player feels. My nephews are both born in England. English father, scottish mother. Nobody celebrates a Scotland goal more fervently than they do. You cant make your kids feel Scottish. It happens naturally due to personal experience. That said Im not a fan of those that choose Scotland to further their professional career because they werent good enough for England, but I can live with it if they are eligible, give their all and improve the team. Che Adams springs immediately to mind.
  24. Aye , but does it have an Irish Bar?
