  1. My mate summed it up perfectly. His genetics comments clearly tell us he feels he can do no more with the players available to him. He has to go.
  2. Fletcher did not have a nightmare! That was never a free kick leading up to their opener. Yes, he missed a great chance and lost his man for the goal but on the whole he was fine. I do think we've probably been slightly over critical of the performance. If that match is in the middle of the campaign - considering not many teams go there and perform well - we'd be saying it was a decent result. In saying that though, i do agree they looked like they wanted it more and to say Strachan never got much wrong is wide of the mark. Why it took so long to make the last 2 subs is beyond me. You only have to look at what happened when Snodgrass came on and the energy he offered. I genuinely believe had he brought on MacGregor and snoddy with 25 mins to go we could have won it.
  3. I deem myself reasonably intelligent but my word, it's a tad on the complicated side. Not too complicated that it can't be understood but just more complicated than it really needs to be.
  4. Never a free kick leading up to the first goal but we should defend it better. Up until then its an ok performance, not great not terrible. Why oh why after that he waited so long to make changes I'll never know. Criminal he waited so long when it was so obvious our problem was our energy in midfield. I genuinely believe if he makes those changes we'd have sneaked the win.
  5. Bannan was decent i thought. MacArthur was poor and I'd have changed him after half an hour but what do i know.
  6. IF we make the play offs, do the unseeded teams automatically play at home first?

    2nd Place

My head started hurting trying to work out all of the permutations for that group....hopefully a few draws.

    2nd Place

Sweden to get a point or more at home to the Netherlands Wales to win away to Georgia and home to Ireland Bosnia to beat an already qualified Belgium at home Iceland to pick up a point away to Turkey If all of the above happened then we'd almost definitely be the worst runner up (if we finished 2ND on 20 points) Not impossible......I'm pinning my hopes on the Iceland group.

    2nd Place

Goal difference will not matter. The only situation where it could matter is if we finish jointly on 18 points with Slovakia, and if that is the case, 18 points (12 excluding Malta) will almost certainly be the lowest points total of all the second place teams, and hence will make no difference.

    2nd Place

I've just been looking at the groups and there's more of a chance than I thought that our group could be the one to miss out. If we somehow managed to finish 2ND on 18 points it's almost a definite we'd miss out. If we win the last 3 matches and finish on 20 there's worryingly still a chance. Given the results against Malta don't count, our goal difference is likely to be poor, meaning we would need to hope some other second place team finish on 19 points ( or 14 points excluding bottom place team). Groups A C D E H are the groups to watch, the other groups should see the second placed teams easily finishing on 20 points plus. Looking at each group individually is worrying as it's not difficult for the second place teams to finish on 20 points but you would think one slip up will happen (albeit it's Scotland we're talking about beer). An away win for Belgium in Greece tonight would be good.
  11. I was in Salou last week and there were plenty of pubs showing the Celtic match. The main drag had a few pubs with it on......apologies I don't know the names. My dad and brother went to Murphy's bar to watch the Celtic match and said it had plenty of TVs with a few different matches on. It was just around the corner from our hotel Villa Dorado if you google it.
  12. Anyone ever suffered with patella tendonitis? I run mainly 10ks but fancied doing a marathon this year and have signed up for the Stirling one in May. Training was going great, managing 18 miles at 7 min/miles but the past month I've had pain in my left knee usually 5 miles into my runs. Pain disappears soon as i stop. Stupidly I've tried to run through it, doing some exercises to help it and appropriate massages etc, but it looks like I'm going to need to rest and at this stage will likely mean i cant do the marathon. Highly frustrating, feels like all my hard work during the winter months has gone to waste!
  13. What have folk felt is the quickest way to get back to central London from Wembley previously? I'm sure it took us a good 2 hrs plus last time and the queue for the train was mental. Was thinking of hiring a private cab? Waste of time?
  14. I'm not Hutton's biggest fan but I think he's our best bet for this match. Beardsley appears to be a bit of knob off the park and I'd quite happily keep guys like him away from representing our country.
  15. There's no way you can say with certainty that our group could be the group that contains the worst runner up. If you look at previous world cup qualification stats 17 points is always enough to make the play offs. That's 13 more points - home wins against Malta, Slovakia and Slovenia with an away win in Lithuania and a point from any of the other 3 matches would achieve that and is hardly impossible, but on our current form it's hard to be confident.
  16. Press reporting today that Scott Brown ready to come back for England match. A big thumbs up from me ?
  17. Before the board gets clogged up the closer we get to the game I'll ask now. Looking for 2 tickets for mates who thought they would be offshore and couldn't make it but can now. Thanks.

I remember having a drunken conversation in Prague about how we could overthrow the SFA. I think it's time to execute the plan.
  19. Just wondering how many fans Aberdeen are expecting to bring down next Saturday. Looks like Morton will be around the 5000 mark, which is disappointing, would easily have been double that 10 years ago.
  20. We could do worse than a 4 4 2 with Miller and Griffiths up front. I remember thinking the same thing last summer, that strachan should try and talk him out of retirement for the last 4 games of that campaign.
  21. I've entered the Stirling marathon in May. Looks a great route, starting off in the safari park. I mainly do 10K, but feel I need to tick the marathon box. What's the longest any of you marathon runners run before the actual race itself, ive read anything from 18-26 miles and usually 4-6 weeks before.
  22. Iceland were not a terrible side. He got a draw at home to Germany. We beat Netherlands at home . I'd be quite happy to finish just 1 point ahead of a terrible Slovakia side..
