  1. There is a clear xenophobic tone to your post. Any nation other than Ireland and I'll bet you'd shrug your shoulders, but "them" on the other hand ..... And as I've posted. Coyle and Slaven were no loss at all. Coyne is debatable but had no long term effect. Houghton was perfectly entitled to play for them. McGeady never wanted to play for us, also his big youthful potential was only partially fulfilled. McCarthy was ignored by a stupid, negligent coach who was then in charge of our youth teams, again his youthful potential has only partially been fulfilled. It's hardly the rich haul of players the Irish have torn from oor poor dear bosom like your portraying is it ? Why don't you put your unfortunate prejudiced aside and actually read the article ? The lad wants to play for us and is keen to get back into the U21 team. Can just imagine poor old Malc taking a flakey when he found out Owen Coyle was going to play "fir them"
  2. Really do love your optimism but the cold, grey realist in me tells me we never make things that simple . And we always, without fail, get the most clueless match officials in Europe for big "crunch" games. We really should not get too carried away by our recent victories. Lithuania and Malta were the teams we beat. Hardly the best opposition in Europe. Slovakia and Slovenia are going to be very closely fought contests.
  3. He was probably just trying to be polite and modest. He probably does not fear us that much, if at all, and with good reason.
  4. FFS that post was like something off FollowFollow. Nae need for that kind of pish. Let's take a wee moment to look at the players they have "knicked fae us" - Owen Coyle and Bernie Slaven were absolutely no loss to Scotland whatsoever. It's debatable whether Tommy Coyne was a short term loss. Ray Houghton was perfectly entitled to play for them seeing as it was his father's homeland. Aiden McGeady never wanted to play for us. And James McCarthy very probably would have played for Scotland if only Archie Knox hadn't been such a fücking stupid cünt. As I've said before, some people actually want players to switch to Ireland just so that they can have a moan, with thinly veiled sectarian overtones, about "them" taking "our" players. Were you this outraged when South Africa approached Callum Paterson a couple of years ago or when Arfield switched to Canada ? Before his first Scotland cap, Charlie Mulgrew openly said he'd consider playing for the USA if Scotland didn't come calling. Never heard any outrage then. If Ziggy Gordon declares for Poland tomorrow or Islam Feruz for Somalia, I won't be losing any sleep. Precisely. Docherty could have expressed himself better but he did say that he's still committed to Scotland and wants to get back in the U21 team. Sadly it would appear that oor Malc has rather a nasty 19th century view of the Irish.
  5. Too many midfielders around, not enough central defenders, right backs and strikers At the time of posting under one of the photographs there is this caption: "Hamilton boss Martin Canning picked up the phone to see why Scot Gemmill was not selected"
  6. Ryan Jack is the only player they have *at the moment* that I'd consider for the national team. We don't need Lee Wallace anymore, can't believe some eejits would still have him called up. Stephen Kingsley and Barry Douglas have a better claim to a place than him. Are there any young Scots in their youth teams that might stand a chance of getting into the first team in the next year or two ?
  7. In the past I've seen Rangers fans claim that the Scotland support is "full of Tims and Sheep that pure hate ra Rangurz" and the chaps on the other side of the fence claiming that the Scotland support is "full of Huns and Sheep that hate ra Sellick". Make your mind up.
  8. "Ah pure felt ah hud to tell that witch Sturgeon that this bridge is pure British so it is" That's probably the reason. Wee bit too modern for him I think. "Know your place you bloody porridge wogs !" is more his kind of thing.
  9. This all just feels really weird tonight.
  10. George Foulkes, oh sorry, Baron Foulkes of Cumnock is at it again I see. The bridge wasn't necessary, it's the nasty, horrible SNP at it again blah blah blah.
  11. Anyone else read Ian Black's comments today - "I have loads of years left, and outside of the English Premier League, I could do a job at any level in Britain," Delusional .
  12. No, he wasn't the only one - Ritchie, C Martin, McArthur, Forrest and Griffiths all played in that match too. Forrest still isn't doing it for Scotland, Ryan Fraser has to be given a chance. Liam Lindsay, Callum McGregor, Liam Cooper and Stevie May also have to be tried out in friendly matches. Although it's still too early to say, Anthony Ralston is worth keeping an eye on.
  13. In Scotland we still have a very conservative outlook on football. There are still a surprising amount of people who think "we invented this bloody game, we don't need any lectures from Johnny Foreigner." Too many youth teams packed with tall, heavy players who posses zero ball control skills and appalling personal fitness. And then there's the traditional "win at all costs" approach, which I define as "punt it up the park - snap that wee bastards legs - stop arsing about with the ball and just blooter it". It's got to go. We also need to promote swimming, cycling and tennis as alternatives that will supplement fitness rather than just plain old boring running and golf. I also wonder how many people have considered this. How many kids (past and present) have been forced by peer pressure into playing football and even becoming a professional when their heart really wasn't into it ? Kids should be playing a sport because they genuinely want to and not because their dad is using them to fulfil their own faded dreams. I really do think that there have been a lot of guys forced into the game who never really wanted to in the first place.
  14. This was one of Corbyn's meeting son his "tour" Not exactly a big success. Most of the people there will be Labour members anyway.
  15. Right now old man Sarwar will be on the phone pushing his complete dimwit of a son into standing for the leadership. He'd be great from an SNP point of view. Neil Findlay may struggle to get the nominations of his fellow Labour MSP's. In parliament he's considered by his "comrades" to be an idiot with a big mouth and a very high opinion of himself. He's also a coward who didn't own up when caught out calling Nicola Sturgeon a liar in parliament and refuses to publicly admit that he's pro-Brexit. Could see Iain Gray with his big ego standing again but don't think he'll win it.
  16. Bobby Clark was always regarded as a good goalkeeper. Yes, he was in goal for the infamous 1973 horror show against England but just because we lost five goals does not necessarily mean that the goalie was at fault for all of them, his teammates must bear a greater responsibility. Clark is actually still working in football aged 71. He is the coach of the University of Notre Dame's football team. Another good goalkeeper to mention would be Jim Cruickshank of Hearts. Baxter wasn't at Rangers in 1967. He was transferred to Sunderland in 1965 and finally returned to Rangers in 1969.
  17. You don't necessarily have to swap one defensive midfielder for another defensive midfielder. Depends on your formation and system. McGinn and Shinnie need to be given chances to show what they can do in that role from now on. It's time to leave out Naismith and Darren Fletcher.
  18. Why don't they just make Levein manager again ?
  19. Haven't you got a list of every single Scottish player signed to an English club to compile and post ?
  20. I agree that Burke has potential and it was disgraceful when Strachan made him the scapegoat for the draw at home to Lithuania. But Kieran Tierney is our best young player by a mile. Nobody comes close. He's also proving it with regular first team football in domestic and European games.
  21. Stephen Daisley ? Frequently turns up at SNP and independence public events and takes pictures of those in attendance with a telephoto lens. Creep.
  22. He was one of our best players .................. ten years ago. We need to focus on players such as Tom Cairney, Callum McGregor, John McGinn and co from now on. Fletcher is one of yesterdays men.
  23. Yes I'd drop him. He's not going to play anyway. There are better players ahead of him. I don't care for sentimentality. Players shouldn't be called up just for old times sake. People wanting Lee Wallace called up made me
