  1. You really do live in a fantasy land at times. The vast majority of people in the Republic of Ireland wouldn't have thought twice about them appointing Charlton as manager.
  2. In which case hopefully the panellists will reply that the odds of getting four home ties are exactly the same as getting four away ties or any other combination.
  3. There is another more subtle point though. Not only did they know that they would be breaking the rules, as part of the IFB, the SFA are also the people who make the rules. So there is a perception of "do as we say, not as we do".
  4. Always a sign that you're losing the argument when you play the man and not the ball.
  5. Dugdale completely rubbish as usual at FMQs today. Ruth Davidson leads on the Sutton Trust report, which is pretty obvious that she's going to do. Then up comes Dugdale and what does she go on, the Sutton Trust report and basically repeats the same points that Davidson made. The FM, funnily enough gives the same rebuttals. its pretty clear that they have no plan B, if they did, they would take the FM to task on a completely different topic. It's not providing any useful opposition. You would think they would want to disassociate themselves from the Tories, this isn't the way to do it. If you look at why Angus Robertson gets so much credit for his performance at PMQs, part of it is his own personal gravitas but most of it is down to preparation. He very rarely goes on the same topic as Corbyn, if he does he takes a different tack. Often, he goes with the questions Corbyn should ask but doesn't. You just know he's prepared to tear up the script if necessary.
  6. Jeremy Corbyn fecked? Don't know about that but he's just been Sturgeoned.
  7. I had quite a bit of time for her as well, always seemed to be the sort that would be a right laugh if you met her. Clearly had her problems with addiction a few years back. I remember she was interviewed on TV once when she was completely off her tits, really TV producers need to take a look at themselves for things like that.
  8. National Insurance isn't devolved, there's nothing the SG can do about it.
  9. Just on the way back from the game and that was my immediate impression. On reflection not as good as Maradona's but a bit special and a delight to see it in the flesh.
  10. I remember being shot at with an air rifle going into the old away end at Parkhead from a top floor flat before an old firm game around 1986/7.
  11. It's based on where you live. You live and work in Scotland, you pay the Scottish rate. You live in Scotland but work in England - e.g. you do a weekly commute - you pay the Scottish rate.
  12. So you don't agree with progressive taxation. That's a valid position to take. You should vote Tory if you don't already do so. However, 77% of the electorate don't agree with you.
  13. It's outlined below but in summary if you live in Scotland you'll pay the Scottish rate, if you live in England it's the rUK rate. The relevant section is the one about someone who works in Cardiff but lives in Kilmarnock. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/work-out-if-youll-pay-the-scottish-rate-of-income-tax#if-you-have-more-than-one-home-at-the-same-time While that means that Scotland may lose out on some offshore workers, they will pick up all the WILLIEs, so it's six and half a dozen. If you think about it, then it's fair enough as where you - and your family - lives is where you'll make use of public services, education, etc. An interesting aside with this is that having the different rates and bands means that employers now need to be able to differentiate where an employee is resident in the UK for tax purposes. This would be one mechanism that if the political will existed that immigration could be devolved. For example, the SG could issue visas that were only valid for employment in Scotland and this could then be verified and monitored through the payroll and PAYE system.
  14. That's quite common with last minute deals, it usually means that they haven't had time to agree all the details of the permanent transfer between all parties.
  15. Tammy Abrahams on loan from Chelsea had been banging them in for Bristol City, call him up as well.

    Oli Burke

Given that he went to school in Melton Mowbray I doubt it very much. It doesn't say much for Nottingam Forest though.

    Oli Burke

Derek Rae has retweeted some stuff about Burke from the Liepzig Director of Football that was in Kicker. It would be good to see the full translation but in summary. They are happy with his potential and clearly see him as a big player for them in the future *but* they say that he's basically not been coached up until now on what to do when they don't have the ball. As Liepzig play a high pressing game, that's pretty key and they're working on that with him. That's the reas on why at this point he's being used as an impact sub to run at tired defenders. Overall pretty positive for the long term. If they can work on his all round game then we could have a really good one there.

    Eberechi Eze

18 minutes for QPR in a cup defeat to Blackburn. Must start against Slovenia regardless of whether he qualifies or not.
  19. Absolutely delighted for Sutton, been to Gander Green Lane loads of times, proper football club and lovely people.
  20. That was our - departmental management - view but the lawyers didn't agree and senior management didn't have the bottle. It was a FTSE 100 company, so I suspect they didn't want the bad publicity.
  21. I had some experience of this several years ago. A guy in one of the other parts of the department I worked in was arrested and charged for child pornography under operation ore. As I was part of the departmental management team, I was aware of what was going on but not directly involved. Without going into the details, we all wanted him to be sacked but the lawyers views were that while there were a number of individual acts of misconduct insofar as his employment was concerned, they didn't add up to gross misconduct. The only hope we had was that when it came to court he would either get a custodial sentence so that he would be unable to fulfil the terms of his contract - as he'd be in the jail - and we could sack him on that basis. Unfortunately, while he was found guilty he only got a fine and community service. The worst part was having to look at him every day when he came back to work knowing what he'd been up to - he was also a pretty unpleasant character regardless - and not being able to say anything. Especially when - knowing the full story - you'd hear friends of his saying things like "he got sent a couple of unsolicited emails and that's where they came from and he'd thought they'd deleted them".
