  1. Settle chief, I hoped the smiley and mention of sauzee might be a clue that I wasn’t being entirely serious. That being said, Hanlon is as poor a shout as mcgeouch. If these guys were any good they wouldn’t be playing for hibs.
  2. In keeping with the current trend of anyone who plays for Hibs being good enough for Scotland, don't be surprised if the answer is David Gray, Steven Whittaker or Franck Sauzee
  3. Agree with this, and the much of the quote that you quoted, except Joe Lewis might well be as good if not better than Gordon so would surely at least make the bench. Sad days when only your keeper would have a chance of a game for the only team in the league better than you.
  4. A smokescreen is exactly what it is. Deflect attention from the fact they're not meeting expectations and, while they're at it, fire up the fans to put extra pressure on officials so that decisions go back to going their way for the next few weeks. Would be far more constructive and beneficial for the game as a whole to use Sunday's refereeing performance to try and get a debate going about improving the standard of officiating but that wouldn't have the same impact and therefore the required deflection wouldn't happen. And to be fair to Rangers, every club should be getting together to try and work with the SFA and SPFL on the standard of officiating but, in public at least, none of them appear to be doing anything.
  5. It's the usual Hibs love-in. Until they beat a bang average Hearts team last night they were in 7th place I think so, as you say, none of their team could have been that good. McGeouch is 24 so not exactly a youngster so a couple of good games for a mid table team in their first season in the top flight in years isn't - or shouldn't - going to be enough to get into the international set up and I'd suggest anyone who thinks otherwise, like Tam McManus, has got their green tinted specs on.
  6. Tam McManus reckons Dylan McGeough should be in the squad. Haven't seen too much of Hibs yet but wouldn't have thought a couple of good games is enough to merit a place ahead of some players who have been performing consistently at that level for a lot longer?
  7. I only saw the first half but McTominay was neat and tidy, wasn't afraid to take possession and good at recycling possession but didn't necessarily do anything spectacular with it. McBurnie started pretty slowly but had a couple of decent touches as the half wore on.
  8. No way could Robertson turn Liverpool down in favour of Burnely. Even if it doesn't work out for him there, and it's still relatively early days, then he'll still get a move to a club at Burnley's level when he leaves Anfield. From what I've read about Robertson I'd imagine he's the type of guy who will know what Klopp wants from him and will be knocking his pan in trying to develop whatever the shortcomings may be. On that basis, I wouldn't be surprised to see him force his way into the team and stay there once he gets there.
  9. Big Slaven Bilic's jacket looks to be on every more of a shoogly peg at West Ham tonight, I'd have him in a flash.
  10. What's going on at Edinburgh these days? Thought Cockerill was a good appointment but looks like they've got a few disciplinary issues? Magnus Bradbury, the captain, suspended after apparently picking up a head injury on a night out and now John Hardie's also unavailable for selection due to a separate and unconnected incident.
  11. Connor Syme has made the cut again this week at Valderrama. Was outside the top 70 with three holes to go and birdied 16 and 18 to make it. Good stuff.
  12. I noticed that Syme has signed a couple of endorsement deals recently so that can't be a bad sign? As usual with these things it'll probably come down to attitude, mental strength and work ethic so hopefully he's good on that score too. Personally, despite only playing six competitive rounds all "summer", I managed to go from 6.4 to 5.4 so pretty happy to spend the winter in cat 1.
  13. You don't think going more than 20 years without an appearance at a major finals indicates we've got a bit of a joke status ourselves? I'd say it's high time we started looking to other countries for ideas and inspiration and if that includes a foreign coach for the national team then so be it.
  14. Bannan is one of the very few players in our squad who is capable to taking the ball in under pressure and trying to find a team mate with his next pass. at least half our team tonight were so lacking in composure that they were trying to hoof the ball up the park as soon as it came near them and I’d rather have a team of players like Bannan who at least try and play the game properly. Fair enough he isn’t the greatest player in the world but at least he plays with his head up and isn’t afraid to take the ball. Much like Darren fletcher, who comes in for similar stick from our fans.
  15. I could be wrong but I think the area nearest the main stand is artificial turf so there wasn't much more room than they used on Saturday. Looked a bit like it in the highlights anyway. http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hearts/hearts-make-bt-murrayfield-pitch-same-width-as-tynecastle-1-4553961
  16. We've got a game we absolutely have to win tonight and you think he'll leave out Tierney and Gordon? Brown I could just about understand but it would be a mental decision not to play the other two.
  17. Brown not picking up a booking in the second half sums up the naivety of Scottish footballers at European and international level. If that was Italy, Germany, France etc and their key combative player was one booking away from a suspension, with a home game against Malta to come, you can guarantee they'd have picked up a yellow for something. Brown had a good opportunity around 90 mins when he was going to take a free kick near the halfway line Why not mess about for long enough for the ref to book you for time wasting? Wait and see, he'll play like a hero in a battling Hampden win over Slovakia but pick up a booking that rules him out of the Slovenia game...
  18. The ideas have been around since a couple of companies came up with an idea for making money off the back of whisky without having to bother building a distillery. Considering a huge amount of whisky from Scotland is bottled using what is to all intents and purposes Glasgow/Edinburgh/fife tap water, then it's already been fairly well "contaminated" with water from places nowhere near where it was actually distilled. Given that, I don't think the place the water you add before drinking comes from makes much difference. And whisky rocks are just playing up on the myth that you shouldn't add ice to whisky. Like everything else, whether it's alcohol, soft drinks or whatever, making it colder makes it harder to taste the flavour so putting cold stones in a dram will mask flavour, just the same as ice does. Nothing wrong with that if you prefer it that way but ice is generally the cheapest way of cooling a drink down, or just keep the bottle in the fridge, rather than shelling out for a few stones.
  19. Part of the problem must be the fact that they're obviously unable to say exactly who was in the building at the time. Residents might be away on holiday, working nightshift etc and other folk might have had friends or family visiting or staying with them. I can't even begin to imagine how they'll ever be able to say for certain how many people perished and who exactly they all were. It's awful.
  20. Got to be Sheppard. I think Joanna Cherry is great but Tommy's got the personality and the drive to keep people engaged and interested in what he's talking about.
  21. Maybe they were supposed to be empty all the way round but fans filtered forward to take up the space in certain sections? Just a guess but it did look weird.
  22. Brown was lucky not to be sent off after his second tackle but you could argue that being nailed early on was the reason that dele alli didn't kick the ball for the rest of the game.
  23. In just about every seat announced so far if either Labour or the Tories dropped out then the other party would win comfortably so the argument that the Greens get the blame in one constituency isnt exactly reasonable.
  24. Not sure how that can be the case (referendum off the table)? Holyrood has passed a motion calling for it and, if exit poll is true, SNP still have a majority of Scottish MPs. In addition, in a hung parliament you might expect that to be one of the keys to the SNP agreeing to support any other party.
