  4. there was always hope that he would invest in the dons ; but understand he leans to a more traditional cause he has done very well though in his career ; known internationally unfortunately with the local boy makes good story in NE there is always a lot of jealousy ; see Stewart Milne
  5. lot of punters here last thursday had themselves convinced that a yes vote would win the day - the problem of being in a tamb / yes leaning FB bubble i was surprised how close the pollsters called it
  6. of course if the boot was on the other foot with the jute and weedgie pond life ; they'd be quite happy to dig into their tracky bottom pockets to bail out the rest in this socialist utopia
  7. convinced Scott Gemmill only got a look in cos of his dad (and that goal, at that) team was an odd mix at the time ; durie being the only real out and out striker ; kevin gallacher usually more wide ,, often employed thru middle (& v lightweight) darren jackson did as well as could be expected in the national set up tosh mckinlay was a poor mans tom boyd neil mccann got lots of games when signing at ibrox bit like billy dodds
  8. found out at weekend my old uncle voted Yes i knew he served in ww2 , but was'nt until recently that got a clearer picture , as he gave his campaign medals to my son , and told us some stuff for sons school presentation he left home in Edinburgh as a young loon (beaten by his Dad) ; signed up with the Gordons - in Western Europe, then Egypt and Palestine after VE day settled in Aberdeen , worked the trams and buses rest of his working life - more of a man than i'll ever be he can barely walk to the end of the street without holding onto fences , but still made the effort to get out to put the X on he fought for who are you to pass judgement
  9. surely it's up to the voter to question it then i'd heard the quote ' we don't button up the back ' a few times....
  10. don't let the truth get in the way of the consipracy theories though
  11. currency and EU membership seemed to be achilles heel for Yes ; in August TV debate with Darling ; Salmond appeared to try the Vote Yes, and we'll figure out the details later approach ; then Jim Sillars kept referring to the EU member section in the (existing)UK passport that could somehow be magically transferred (with no re-application process)
  12. 3/4 of your people got their independence as Eamonn DV bottled it the leftover part is a mess
  13. Salmond 45 on your top are you getting the matching big red nose and floppy shoes too game over theres still folk with general lee kit in the southern states ; am sure that is more tongue in cheek than expecting a glenfinnan revival
  14. there is no reason for people to debate, twitter etc to have a vote so much sour grapes lot of the older folk (who may well have served in forces , been through war /rationing etc) are not remotely interested in facebook, twitter etc they're vote counts exactly the same as the next man - a Poilish student , a rabid nationalist, a barbour wearing socialite lot of folk seemed to have been living in this online bubble and convinced themselves it was a shoe-in the constant reference to food banks may have scared off the middle classes - with the thought of their extra tax levied being re-distributed via Iceland (the freezer store not the land of geysers) i was upset by the result, but very proud of the voter turnout and the democratic process
