  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah, could be an option. I think you can also get a train and then a bus but connections might not be the best at that time in the morning. Any idea how much a taxi is? We're in the IBIS hotel beside the main station. Just me and my son.
  3. Addresses all the Independence parties acting like dicks whilst the Better Together machine is in full flow
  4. I’m in Frankfurt for the night of the Germany game. Any recommendations on a pub to go to? Prefer a pub to the fanzone for the Scotland games
  5. Today
  6. https://wingsoverscotland.com/marking-time/ We’re going to rule out Yousaf being smart enough to take our sensible advice from that article and trigger a general election immediately. That being so, these are the remaining options for what can unfold next week: SCENARIO A Humza Yousaf resigns before the votes of confidence (which will most likely be on Wednesday or Thursday) can take place. What happens then? Nothing much changes. The Tory vote of confidence in Yousaf will be cancelled, but the Labour one in the entire government will still go ahead and will be supported by the three Unionist parties. Since Alba won’t have been able to secure any concessions that would justify them supporting the government, they will logically have to either back the motion or abstain, which has the same effect. The same applies to the Greens: since they won’t know who the new FM will be* – it could be Kate Forbes, eek! – they can’t risk letting the government off the hook and will have to support the motion too. RESULT: The government falls. The government falling does not automatically trigger a general election. However, it would be effectively impossible to form a replacement government in 28 days, because neither the government nor the opposition can command any sort of working majority. So an election WOULD follow. (Fun fact! Under the Scotland Act, an election this year would have no impact on the normal schedule of Holyrood elections, ie any government elected would only last until 2026, when we’d have to have another election.) SCENARIO B Humza Yousaf does NOT resign, and loses the Tory vote but survives the Labour one. (We’re not sure HOW he would, but it’s theoretically possible.) What happens then? Yousaf would come under intense pressure to resign, but under the law he doesn’t HAVE to. He can tell the SNP “Look, if I go the government collapses and you all lose your jobs”, and he can tell everyone else “Nyah nyah nyah I don’t care what you think, you all hate me anyway so who cares?” RESULT: Business as usual. The government staggers on as a minority, with great difficulty, because the Greens won’t work with Yousaf and he’ll have to beg Labour and the Tories for votes to pass anything. The reality of Scenario B is that unless Yousaf had somehow succeeded in winning back the Greens, another confidence vote would be called sooner rather than later and the whole mess of the last week would be repeated ad infinitum until one succeeded and an election was triggered. Nobody wants that, and the public would probably burn Holyrood to the ground. SCENARIO C Yousaf doesn’t resign, and WINS both votes. What happens then? Pigs fly, Hell freezes over, everyone marries a monkey’s auntie. RESULT: See above – business as usual. The only even theoretically plausible route to that outcome is if Yousaf makes some big concessions to Alba and somehow doesn’t trigger a rebellion in his own ranks by doing so (remember, a revolt of even one SNP MSP failing to back the government very likely causes its defeat), or if he makes no concessions but Alba then bottle out of bringing down an SNP government and back him anyway, AND no SNP MSPs fail to vote for the government for any reason. SCENARIO D Yousaf doesn’t resign, and loses both votes. What happens then? The entire Scottish Government has to resign, and as with Scenario A it’s highly unlikely that a new government could be formed within 28 days, so there’s an election and we don’t get to have a summer holiday. All manner of zany capers both within and independent of these situations could and probably will transpire between now and Wednesday, but ultimately one of the four outcomes above will materialise. Wings’ view is that Scenario D is most likely, closely followed by A and then very distantly followed by B and C. . *Here’s a pertinent detail: outside of Parliamentary shenanigans it’s actually quite hard for the SNP to remove a leader except at annual conference, which is currently scheduled for 30 August-1 September. If Yousaf really decides to dig his heels in it could be October or November before the party has a new leader.
  7. Read this 18 tweet drivel from "Councillor Graham Campbell" (the grifting boyfriend of SNP MP Anne McGlaughlin) then tell me that the SNP does not need burned to the ground. If you still doubt it's madness read Neil Mackay's expose of the Scottish Green Party that pushed the SNP into no return on the GRA, HPMA & the deposit scheme and claim they got fuck all out of the BHA https://archive.ph/XhCI5
  8. Even if he does then theres still some places up for grabs, especially if mctominay doesn't make it. We are potentially losing 3 out of our 5 main attacking midfielders. There could also be more injuries. Still a month left of club football to be played. Tommy Conway must be close to guaranteeing himself a spot in the squad, especially now it's 26. I am pretty sure Cairneys been quite good this season although I can understand ppl not being keen on a 33 year old getting picked who hasnt really featured for us much. I really think turnbulls career has stalled and I don't want him in the squad. I would much rather give Gauld or Morgan a chance.
  9. I think there’s far more of chance of him picking Turnbull, Forrest and possibly Ryan Jack (if he’s fit) as replacement/additional midfielders rather than Gauld. Although I think he will pick Tommy Conway considering he asked him to train with the senior team previously. Clarke loves to be loyal to keep the club mentality. Can only see Gauld being a popular call up with the players though, he was childhood mates with Souttar and was close to Robertson (and Armstrong?) at Dundee United. He must have played under 21s with a lot of the current squad too. I can’t imagine call ups for Elliot Anderson or Ryan Fraser being popular due to issues with their last call ups. Or Cairney as a 33 year old with patchy form or Turnbull with almost no form.
  10. Ah, so you're a transphobic bigot. That explains a lot
  11. I think that's slightly defeatist. Just got to hope some of our other players step up and put in good performances. There's certainly a few guys who are due a good performance in a Scotland shirt. I like to think Fraser might come good at the euros. Always think we haven't gotten enough out of him especially when he was playing well for Bournemouth. Che Adams has been quite good for saints as well so here's hoping he pulls some good performances out.
  12. As opposed to the snp who are promoting the policies of deviants.
  13. The more I think about it and tally up the numbers Clarke will seriously have to consider guys like gauld and Morgan. Especially now we have gone up to a 26 man squad. Unless he starts picking journeymen from league1 or the spl. I even think siriki dembele might be have an outside chance of getting asked. Not that keen on picking Turnbull again but I think theres a decent chance Clarke might have to. Would like Cairney to be picked. From interviews it sounds like he wants to be involved and I think he's a good player who has been slightly overlooked in recent years. Also it sounds quite promising regarding mctominays injury but time will tell.
  14. Ten Hag’s quote after the game was: We have to assess this, to set the diagnosis," said Ten Hag. "I don't know in this moment to return [against Crystal Palace next month], I think it's a little bit too quick turnaround. "You have seen he has a problem. We have to diagnose this and see what it is." So it wasn’t instant, bad news. But could easily be after he’s been assessed.
  15. Alba have been fighting against the SG from day one. They are a unionists dream. A party run by a rent a gob sex pest, paid by Russia.
  16. I agree, Fraser ,Gauld , Morgan & Cairney are all good shouts . Would be even happier if Ross Stewart or especially Doak could get some first team action & make it. Turnbull not though, hasn't done anywhere near enough in recent times to deserve it. Anyone any news on McTominay ?
  17. It kind of works, but why? The original ad was trying to stop people voting for the guy in the pocket, for fear they'd get the big bad bogey man. But that's not going to happen any time soon, is it?
  18. If an Alba MSP were to be the casting vote - or even just part of the vote - that brought down the SNP government, then yes they would be seen as bringing down the SNP government. Surely Alba themselves would see that, and so it's not at all certain they would actually do that, deal or no deal.
  19. Either way we maybe could do with some fresh players as recent results and performances have been poor.
  20. I think at this rate its a case of Clarke will have to pick whoever is available and playing at a decent level. Fraser ticks that box easily as does Morgan and gauld. It's a real bummer losing some of our first picks but I will be excited to see how Morgan or gauld do if they get picked and I have always felt Fraser should be a first team pick anyways although he's fucked himself over the years by not turning up. Morgan has a record of 25 goals in 53 for red bull, he should be in the squad already. Just hope Clarke gives him a chance. These injuries are a great chance for Morgan, gauld and Fraser to come in a prove themselves. I even think the injuries could help shankland as we could be forced to go with 2 up top and I would like to see Adams and shankland form a partnership. Morgan's goal yesterday.
  21. I'd be lying if I said I didn't post on this thread without having an evil wee chuckle knowing you guys who frequent would see the comment and fear the worst.
  22. I think Fraser has a strong chance, although he’s not been starting for Southampton recently (apart from this weekend) or assisting/scoring. Not sure if there’s any lingering hostility between him and Clarke too.
  23. And our opposition at the euros will know absolutely jack shit about them too, which may be an advantage 🤔 Clutching at straws here 😳
