kmcca5
Reasons To Be Cheerful – Georgia Away Compared to last time we played there we should be well rested, last time the game came after we played Ukraine and we had lots of niggly injury’s and looked pretty knackered etc. Georgia Look worse than when we played them in 2007. Although we have played poorly on the whole over the last 4 games we still 3 of them, drew the Ireland game (EDIT), only conceded 2 goals and scored 9 in the process. Strachan seems to know what he is doing Snodgrass might be back in the squad. Matt Ritchie might not be in the squad. Barney Rubble
Back on topic - I agree with all of your other points. The anticipation is quietly growing for this fixture.

Although we have played poorly on the whole over the last 4 games we still won all of them, bar the Ireland game (EDIT), only conceded 2 goals and scored 9 in the process. Strachan seems to know what he is doing Snodgrass might be back in the squad. Matt Ritchie might not be in the squad. Can't see anything other than a Scotland victory unless we make an @rse of it (which is not beyond the realms of possibility). Georgia won't really have anything to play for except pride. OK so theoretically they can still qualify but there's more chance of Denis Law coming out of retirement than that happening. Our main obstacle will be the pressure of knowing how huge a win would be for our chances. If we can get over that and play well there will only be one winner. An early goal would help. CTV
I watched back the video of the home game over the weekend. I was reminded how well we played and that it was ridiculous that we were only 1-0 up and at risk of an equaliser near the end. If we can put in something like that level of performance again we will do well. I know it's an away game, it might be hot, they have a new manager etc, but we looked much better on that show and if we can have the confidence to play our game freely then I think we will come out of this well. Was also reminded of how much joy Robertson and Anya had against their defenders, and how much their goalie flapped at crosses (including for the goal). Bookies have us at 11/10 and that's a shorter price than we have been for an away game (bar Faroes etc) in a very long time.

I haven't watched the game again but I was at it and I remember thinking how comfortable we were (apart from Georgia's late attack). We passed the ball well and our movement was good. All that was missing was a cutting edge in the box. On any other day we would have beaten them more comfortably. Their world ranking of 139 is possibly a bit deceptive as their win against Gibraltar gave them no points but they were ranked 110 when we last played them. We should really be looking to go there, boss the game and come away with all three points. If only it was that simple, eh?
SheepieTartanArmy
Really looking forward to this. I know this a potential banana skin of a tie but I firmly believe we will come away with 3 points. I'm more worried about the physical shape of the team after a trip like this to play Germany 3 days after is not the best.

Also, the press and fans' attitudes don't matter. Only the manager and players' attitudes are important. I'd like to think that Strachan will ensure there is no complacency and the team will be disciplined and hardworking enough to get a result. If we go there and commit ourselves and play in the proper manner and Georgia play out of their skin and get a draw or even a win then so be it. I don't think they are good enough to do that though - IF we approach the game correctly. Edited June 29, 2015 by Kiltedsteamer147
