vata84
Dear all, Seven post-Soviet states have been represented in the English Premier League's 22-year history, and six of those nationalities (apologies to Lithuania's one-time Arsenal striker Tomas Danilevicius) feature in this detailed and highly informative article. http://futbolgrad.com/post-soviet-premier-league-xi/ Please read, share and discuss who you think is/was the best player from the region to play in England's lucrative top flight. Cheers, Vata
wanderer
Interesting team..... goalkeeper is a solid choice, with maybe Dmitri Kharine a solid rival for that spot. I take it this is based on lasting impression in the Premiership, hence Shevchenko, Rebrov and Ketsbaia are not listed? Got a friend from Latvia I talk about football with, and he actually believes that Astafjevs was the best Latvian player to play in England, but sadly never in the Premiership. Also got Andrejs Rubins, Igors Stepanovs, Andriy Veronin and Oleksandr Yevtushok

wanderer
Was Kinklandze on trial at Dundee at some point, or am I dreaming this? Do not think trial, but was linked (how many seasons in a row was he linked with Celtic at his peak?) when Giovanni di Stefano tried to sign him. min
What about a Scottish top flight equivalent. With the exception of the couple of thousand or so Lithuanians that have played for Hearts, choice is quite limited, so starter for 10: Kharine Khizanishvili Kuznetsov Baltacha Zaliukas Kanchelskis Ketsbaia Nemsadse Mikhailichenko Arveladze Jankauskas
