  1. Yes, I've decided I can't top him for 50's. Looking at one from 60's, I grew up listening to early Zeppelin, but turns out most of I & II were rip-offs... some from Howlin' Wolf anaw! Still good though. Their loud and heavy arrangement must have come from Marshall amps and Jimi Hendrix ...so thought about All Along the Watchtower, but it's a cover of Dylan apparently taking the piss. Still great, and I cannot find Dylan's original, and it seems he then covered Hendrix covering him. So feck it, I'll go with The Small Faces - All or Nothing, which I think I picked up from the TAMB as some old bugger must have posted it. I was reluctant to pick it as it sounds like Steve Marriott is making a case to get his leg over. It's a breakup song however.
  2. Gonna be hard to top Smokestack Lightning for the 50's. Need to have a think.
  3. Aye, they were great. I think the problem in the end for them was the cost of the aircraft sitting around for a couple of days at the venue. Last trip for me was maybe Koper, Slovenia?
  4. Shiit. I need to back that up. Most of you will not be impressed, but JSBX it is... I'm posting the tunes. It's a fekkin' music thread!!! I had to look Ian Brown up 😄
  5. Since the year turned into 2019, I was coincidentally thinking about 1994. Feck me, I was thinking. That was 25 years ago. Some truly epic tunes then. Just that one year never mind picking a favourite from the whole decade. I rediscovered music around then and have been boring you all here ever since
  6. Not my 1st choice, but I was actually appreciating Hud's 60'd dilema 😋
  7. I'm still struggling to pick one from the 1940's 'cause I've a few favourites. Dizzie Gillespie - Manteca, Leadbelly - Where Did You Sleep Last Night, T-Bone - Stormy Monday, Perry Como - Sweet Sixteen (my folks met at school 😍 ), The East German & Soviet national anthems (just to balance my Wagner post ), Robert Wilson - Road to the Isles, but here's Peggy Lee & Benny Goodman just so I can post this video...
  8. What's wrong with the 30's? Was there no good music before the 40's? 😋 So here's my 40's favourite. 1840's
  9. Deffo. Always minds me of my big cousin. This is so wrong, but...
  10. OK, it was a while ago. We were out west in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island. Fekkin' loved it. Pacific coast makes me want to greet.

    Gdansk

I remember Gdansk's old waterfront being really busy during the day, then deserted at night. Can't remember if that was 'cause it was a school night, but did see busloads of day-trippers coming and going. I think they were Germans coming to visit old Dansig where their recent ancestors had been booted out of. I think WW2 kicked off in the area. We stayed in a hotel near the post office and the story there is quite harrowing. There's a monument outside it. On the lighter side thought, that wee hotel's breakfast was epic. I also learned what a vodka and coke was all about. Poles would have one wee glass of coke for sipping throughout their meal and a bottle of voddy on ice to quench the thirst. And another bottle after the pair had finished that during their salad starter
  12. This is Canada mind. Supermarkets cannot even sell booze. You have to go to a state licenced offy and run the gauntlet of jakeys and their dugs for yer six pack of Molson or Labatt's. Been there, did it ...felt so dirty 😓
  13. I know the ones you mean. Like shot glasses. My folks had a couple with gold trim in the 60s/70s. The men used to drink their blended whisky in bigger tumblers with lemonade (or green ginger) though. I used the wee glasses for my grannies' ginger wine.
  14. Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest a reason. The red socks did add a more aggressive look I think.
  15. True. The red socks seem to become established in the 50's though, giving the union look.
  16. Being so young, I'd only ever heard yon Beatles cover until I came to the TAMB. A certain member introduced me/us to The Rain on here and I still love it. I tried looking for the original post on the archive board and just got nostalgigated. Oanyhoo...
  17. On here to see if I missed anything as I was asleep before 9pm. Me and Mrs Grim coughing and spluttering through the night. I'm confused now as to when I should have my glass for the bells. The very best to you all in 2019
