  1. If there's one thing I learned when I was a councillor, and wee Willie will be fully aware of, it's not to take anyone's stories at face value. So the wummin and her daughter ... pinch of salt.
  2. If you have Sky all the series are available on demand.
  3. Stayed away from this thread for two weeks (on holiday so couldn't watch) as I suspected someone might give it all away. Decent final episode, but in real life I think someone with Milky's temperament would have accepted what was clearly a genuine apology, and not gone down the revenge at all costs route. Certainly not beyond the realms of possibility though.
  4. Just finished re-reading Wild Swans. What a sad history China has, albeit viewed from an often middle class microcosm. Would recommend it to anyone - puts China's current (diabolical) human rights abuses into perspective.
  5. Blindspot with Jaimie Alexander looks to have some potential and is coming to Sky Living. I also saw the first episode of Mr Robot on a flight, and it looked excellent, but feel it might go downhill rapidly. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/ustv/news/a670372/sky-living-has-picked-up-jaimie-alexanders-mystery-drama-blindspot.html#~prLRz4P84OYW74
  6. Didn't Bono phone him at work from a concert in Edinburgh? Also remember him being roundly booed at a Scottish Cup Final (Dundee Utd?), and the players not looking too happy at having to shake his hand. Hated him with a passion, more than any other unionist before or since (and there have been bawbags aplenty).
  7. Don't want to put a downer on it lol, and others may disagree, but wasn't that impressed by the Food and Wine Festival. Each of the countries puts forward one main course and one sweet and drink. There are restaurants - the Canadian steak house was $40 a steak. Eventually found something to eat in the Moroccan restaurant, but think that's a permanent feature.
  8. Not a great fan tbh, although if you're looking for snappy three minute pop songs then The Beatles are right up there with Westlife and Take That. The only difference being that the band's main man (Lennon) was actually incredibly talented. Of the British Invasion bands The Rolling Stones and The Animals were more my cup of tea, whilst Creedence were producing some great stuff on the other side of the pond.
  9. I'd advise you to do at least a couple of days at Universal too. Loved it. And it caters for all ages, from Dr Seuss-age upwards. It's also much, much cheaper than Disney. IMO the best ride is Harry Potter, and the re-created Harry Potter village is outstanding.
  10. Just done the Magic Kingdom in Orlando and have to say I thought it was pretty poor in comparison to Universal. Having said that I think if you have young kids the real fun will be watching them have the time of their lives. But mine are both teenagers and a 6ft dancing mouse doesn't do it for them, whereas a scary-ass roller coaster does.
  11. Don't want to give too much away, but the new series certainly starts and ends with epic scenes. Little frustrated with the ending, but sets the second episode up well. They're also advertising a new Walking Dead series over here called Fear the Walking Dead Flight 461 (or something like that).
  12. Was at the Buccaneers/Jaguars game today. Really enjoyed it. Despite the heat on the upper deck, which was overpowering. Raymond James is some stadium btw, very, very impressive. Oddest thing was people renting out their gardens to people parking before their game. Parked in a guy's garden for $10.
  13. I actually think if we continue on like this (under Strachan) we'll get there eventually. They say that for a airliner to fall out of the sky generally requires seven factors. Each on its own is pretty irrelevant, but add them up and you have a disaster. This is what happened to us. But unlike a doomed airliner, many of our factors were out of our hands, some were well within our hands. First and foremost we should ha beaten Georgia. Simple, our fault. Second, we had to win away from home. Georgia was the obvious one, but really, taking two points from Poland and Ireland was acceptable. We would have taken that in a heartbeat before the group started. Again though, this was in our hands. Third was Germany dropping points to Poland and Ireland. Not at my laptop, but IIRC they dropped seven of their 12 points to these two teams. Fair play to Poland and Ireland they took their chances, but they're no better than us. This was more to do with German failings than Scottish ones. Lastly, last second goals. I'm posting from memory here, but there's the obvious one against us, and Ireland I think took 5 or 7 points from late goals. Almost all of these being missed would have kept us in he tournament. So there were many factors that knocked us out, but many of them were out with our control. A little bit of luck here or there and we'd have been right in this. The future feels sh!t, but actually it's not too bad based on the group we've just played in.
  14. Lying next to a pool in Orlando. Sun's beating down, having a wee beer, having just spent the day at Universal. Should be one of the best days of my year but I feel utterly empty. When I saw the score I felt bad, then I saw a late equaliser and I felt terrible, then I saw the Germany result. The Georgia result hurt us but Germany dropping points left, right and centre (except to us) was what really killed us. If they'd done what they usually do and swept through qualification, we'd still be in this.
  15. Also need somewhere a 12 year old can get in.
  16. So did this work out last year? Looking for somewhere to watch the Poland game in Orlando. Emailed a couple of places but no replies.
  17. True. We did try it for a two night trip, but worked with the school to manage the risk.
  18. My retort to this was that Salmond could cure cancer and they'd complain he was doing nurses and doctors out of jobs. Hothersall was particularly happy to be accused of this level of SNP-bad.
  19. Had them all except Robbie Rensenbrink. Still have most of them. Invented a World Cup football game with them that kept me amused for hours.
  20. Unless you've watched it from the beginning I think it would be difficult to follow. Not a lot of music so far.
  21. Been watching this since the film was released in 2006. It's always been excellent, but was a little disappointed with the first two episodes of '90. Just watched the third episode and it's the best hour of British drama I've watched in years. If you haven't seen these I'd advise it, but don't just jump into this series - it has to be watched from the film onwards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Is_England
  22. I was in Spain at the time of Franco's death on holiday (actually 1975) and the whole country essentially shut down. I vaguely remember that a basic service was provided by the hotel and the pool was obviously open. Bit of a wasted holiday lol.
  23. My MP put up on a private Facebook page that they were all donating it to charity.
  24. Thanks folks. Various things. Been to GP at enuresis clinic at Sick Kids. They had lots of stuff in place, from keeping a diary to techniques to prescriptions. But it was almost as if they couldn't deal with the small percentage who they failed to cure, and thereafter just kept returning to the same things time and again. He's always wet the bed, although it comes and goes. So he can have two weeks without an accident, but follows this with two weeks of doing it every night. The tablets are good for putting a halt to a long wet streak, but as I said, they only work for a short period. It's almost like his body gets used to them. He doesn't drink fizzy drinks, tea, coffee or milk. Mainly soft drinks. Tried a moisture alarm, but it was going off every five minutes due to sweat (I've heard this is a common problem with that technique). Strangely neither myself or my wife had this issue. I had stopped wetting the bed before I went to school. His older brother had the same issue, but IIRC he sorted it around the age of 11. Whilst I mentioned in the first post that it driving me up the wall, it's really for his own peace of mind. He gets incredibly down about it (understandably). One technique we've not tried and is mentioned online is sending them to a camp with friends for a week. A lot of people said this ended the issue right there and then. I'd be worried about doing this, but willing to try anything now.
