  1. Enjoyed reading that and I see she's got a new post referendum edition out. I'm not quite so sure that I get the love in with the tenement but Blossom deserves to be widely read. Read Romano Bridge by Andrew Greig which is a Buchan-esque romp and quite enjoyable Also enjoyed Simon Sebag Montfiore's 'One Night In Winter' which I picked up second hand for a holiday read, good insight into Soviet Union at the end of the World War 2
  2. I've just bought an online subscription as i don't think I'm going to see a copy down in deepest Hertfordshire but I'm pleased that there's some sort of alternative giving a different point of view. May it live long and prosper.
  3. Anyone know whether this is being paid out of UK money or English money?
  4. Why does it not surprise me that you can't get to the truth when Cameron's involved.
  5. According to the BBC Mr Cameron said the Saltire would be flying above 10 Downing Street, as he described how he was "just one of the millions of people who were relieved, proud and delighted that Scotland decided to stay" in the independence referendum. He added: "There was one big message at the heart of our campaign: We can have a strong UK and a strong Scotland - with its own identity and achievements to celebrate. That's what St Andrew's Day is all about. "As we celebrate St Andrew's Day, we celebrate Scotland, this great nation of culture and enterprise, of pride and passion, whose countrymen and women gave the world the steam engine, the television, penicillin, James Bond, Harry Potter - even the Higgs boson. Today, Scotland's national day, the world shows its admiration for those achievements, and the bagpipes will ring out from the islands of Argyll to the streets of New York." where do you start with this pish! How about bagpipes 'ring out' for starters, how the donald duck do bagpipes 'ring'? 'drone'/'sound', surely 'ringing is something that bells do not bagpipes And how the hell has Scotland given the world the Higgs boson - might have been discovered by a guy at Edinburgh but not given! And he's forgotten to mention that a Scot invented the bleeding telephone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rant over - though please feel free to join in.
  6. Particularly like their winter/Christmas brew this year.
  7. I see that our great and ilustrious ex PM has said politicians in Scotland must "stop obsessing about constitutional change and focus on improving people's lives". How stupid does he think people are? Does he really think most people can't see a link between constitutional change and the quality of their lives?
  8. Problem of course being in Westminster politicians don't want it whereabouts northern branch office thinks or offers is completely irrelevant.
  9. Nowt so queer as folk - nowt so queer as Yorkshire folk
  10. I think you're right there, it'll be a few years before any of Smith's recommendations become real and in the meantime there's already talk of rushing through EVEL so even if by some miracle Ed won the election he might well not have the ability to legislate on English matters. Labour have been well and truly done.
  11. Some ones already commented that Wastemonster keeps oil and whisky revenues whilst Scotland gets to keep unwanted nuclear subs and austerity budget. Doesn't exactly seem like a good deal!
  12. Well we all know why Labour need Scotland but for the life of me I cannot see why Scotlaand needs Labour.
  13. Don't think they'll have too many copies in Englandshire so it looks like digital copies for me. I think if you have the choice though go for the paper edition, get a different view out there!
  14. Step in the right direction. Its not that most Yes supporters want a version of Pravda just something that will be on the shelves and expose the increasing amount of sheer dishonesty and lies that get peddled by politicans which never seems to get challenged. I hope its successful.
  15. The other overlooked thing is that I always fancy a chance of him getting a goal. If I was cruel at this point I might make a jibe about "sometimes in the oppositions net" but he does add a bit of a presence at corners and that can also be handy.
  16. Interesting comments from Pete Wishart SNP MP following yesterday's sparsely attended debate ''Today we saw once again the true colours of the Tory backbenches at Westminster. They remain unhappy and disgruntled with their embattled party leader for being bounced into the 'Vow' by Labour's Scottish dinosaurs - as speaker after speaker rose to their feet to make the point that this was something agreed by the Prime Minister but not at Westminster by MPs.They made clear they do not feel bound in any way by the ' Vow' - but made absolutely clear they continue to see the Barnett Formula as their key target - potentially slashing Scotland's budget by £4 billion."
  17. Labour so scared that they look out of touch with ordinary people, stupid tweet and displays incredible lack of judgment just makes her look like a snob.
  18. Not really relevant though is it, the gap over recent years has got wider. Once upon a time results between the two countries was 50:50 but if we'd been playing them regularly since the demise of the home internationals that gap would have widened. We're not producing the quality of player we used to although there are some signs for optimism. At the end of the day tho' I'm not too bothered we lost, Friday was the game we had to win and we did. If we're going to lose I'd prefer it to be a meaningless friendly rather than in a Euro qualifier and if it reminds us all that we're still work in progress then thats not a bad thing and hopefully will pay dividends in the long term.
  19. In fairness people have been saying how good he's been last couple of games
