  1. even with whiny boring Michael Owen?.....get rid of him and it would improve greatly...although that still wouldnt make some of the EPL games any better just safer on the lugs.
  2. No fault of McGregor....he was already getting ready to collect the through ball and the defender touched it.......error by the defender and not goalie
  3. In the past hour we seemed to have moved smoothly from 2104 to 2015.....but there may be the possibility that i missed out a few years....did we really draw England in the 2016 Euros?
  4. Yes, I lie awake at night worried about rising sea levels and yet the solution to this is quite obvious. The authorities should put dynamite in all the seas in an effort to kill all the fish....just imagine the space that whales occupy and the resultant lowering of the sea level when they are removed (a bit like when a fat bird steps out of a jacuzzi) Perhaps this solution has never been tried as it would have the negative side effect of removing fish suppers from menus........
  5. didn't stop Jordan Henderson scoring a great opening goal though........
  6. Hopefully the big game will be at Tyncastle....probably the tv game too
  7. from that article..."“It’s great and I’m really pleased for the editor and the journalists who’ve done a terrific job. It’s rare for newspapers to support a particular political ideal these days, but they supported it, went for it and it was successful.” really?..this man has never read the Daily Mail, Telegraph, Express, Daily Record.....em...well any other newspaper really
  8. The question on the Referendum held on 18th September has the option to say..."Can't Remember" to how did you vote.....there are quite possibly a great number who would like to forget how they voted
  9. I hope that you didnt buy....their share price has slumped ever since...currently less than half what it was on news of oil (and lower than it was before Lancaster was announced) They simply have no funds and do not have the resources to bring this to production themselves....like so many smaller independents they are up for sale but there are no willing buyers out there at present.
  10. I don't think that is correct. i was on the A9 from Perth to Dunblane the other week and there were several sets of average speed cameras...all of that section of road is dual carriage way
  11. I still have a green driving licence and was thinking of changing it soon....need to hire a car in the US and believe they need a photy one?
  12. what a fantastic match this is...great quality. currently 5-4 Murray in final set....advantage Murray....so championship point
  13. thanks for that Just got some....dont seem restricted view
  14. Good point made earlier about the previous regime and the 4-6-0 nonsense.......wonder what Levein must think watching this. A point would be great but you never know with Strachans team there is always the chance of a win
  15. and he also played at Pittodrie in 1982 for Hamburg - 3-2 great game He shared a pitch with Walker McCall that evening and many believed that was the peak of Beckenbaur's career........ Euan...wee bit confused about that....the greatest 5's team ever, Boca Santos ,always had someone in the Beckenbaur roe at the back?
  16. Well I did say I would come back with a race report from Ironman Mallorca Unfortunately it turned out to be a bit of a disaster for me. I had trained really well....had done a few 4km open water swims, did 15 century rides since April ( including La Marmotte -5200m climbing in Alps and snow roads - a 301km addax over all the hills that block first with snow in Scotland) and although didn't start running til more recently I did a couple of 16 milers and a 19 mile run that felt fine The swim yesterday was officially non wetsuit legal as the sea temp was 25.1c and the rules state no wet suits above 24.5c. No huge concern but I did think that would add a few minutes to my time. The swim actually went quite well....the usual washing machine start with arms and legs everywhere from 2600 swimmers. Then around the 3km stage I got stung by a jelly fish - a sharp pain on chest and then a few minutes later I vomited in the sea without warning. I was sick a couple of more times in the water but was able to carry on to transition. Got on my bike and just couldn't believe it when I was getting passed by more people than overtaking as I expected to make up time on the bike. I kept looking apt my computer and thinking that I should have been going at around 20mph I was only doing 14/15 mph. I vomited a couple of more times and just had no energy at all. I got to the first feed station at 30km and felt awful.....I did ask for a medic ( I had no idea how jelly fish stings affected you) but there wasn't one around.) I carried on but got slower and slower and could barely keep my head up. Then at the next feed station after 65km the volunteers called on an ambulance and I was eventually taken back to Alcudia and had to withdraw. Absolutely devastated but could see no other option.....with another 120km on the bike then a marathon it would have been impossible...so spent rest of day in bad. Only just eaten after nothing for 24 hours and feeling a lot better This has made me more determined than ever to become an ironman. I even fleetingly wondered if I could enter Barcelona which is the last event in Europe this year but it is next weekend and logistically a problem looks like I will have to wait til 2015 but look forward to getting leaner and fitter for then...and will choose a venue where wetsuits are allowed ( virtually all events) Just not my day but I will do this.......
  17. At the launch of the Wood Review in April he went on about the potential 26 bn boe and that the oil and gas industry was for those in the audience, their kids and their subsequent kids. Then before the referendum he basically said the 26 bn boe was exaggerated and that there was no great long term future for oil and gas in Scotland. I was in the audience at a business breakfast where he said those things ins April - even took notes....believe it is / was on video on the oil and gas uk website. Agree with all Neilser says about UTG project. No need nor desire for it and building further shopping outlets so is about the last thing Aberdeen needs. For the council to take on extra debt would have been madness He is a severe hypocrite
  18. Would never do an ultra but tomorrow I certainly have the toughest challenge that I have ever taken on. Competing in my first Ironman here in Mallorca. Currently getting all my transition bags ready and paranoid about forgetting something ( like running shoes) Going down to the beach for the briefing in a couple of hours and hopefully then we will hear if the swim is to be wetsuit legal ( the water temperature needs to be below 24.5c and I understand that is was around 25c yesterday). Wearing a wetsuit would be preferable as I am not a strong swimmer and I will need all the buoyancy I can get for the 2.4 mile sea swim The cycle looks ok with one major hill will 600m of climbing but I have trained for this and did a lot worse in La Marmotte in the Alps in July......saying that I collapsed in a heap after reaching the summit of Alpe D'Huez ( the finish line). Tomorrow I have a full marathon to run. I have only really been running a few weeks after an enforced break of 8 years ( in that time had major back surgery - inserted metal discs) and a knee operation after which I was told I would never run again - I believe all my cycling has cured that) run training has been surprisingly ok as I have lost weight and built up my endurance with cycling...did a couple of 16 milers and a 19 miler. With the best will in the world I will have to walk parts tomorrow but that is normal for the majority doing ironman. My main concern is the heat,,,,forecast is for 27c and that is hotter than I have ran in for years...let alone running a marathon after a long swim and 112 mile cycle.. Come to think of it I don't think I have even been in 27c this year. For those interested I may write up a review of my experience ( might be from a hospital bed) I dipped in and out of this thread for a long time and there are great stories of people bettering their health and lives through running....very inspirational. For a while I was extremely jealous of even the slowest of those park runners as I didn't think I could run at all...it's great to be back
  19. and strangely gone out to 9/2 again.....no idea why? Put some more on though...have a good feeling
  20. Then again no one really reads that in Scotland...and the small number that do are a complete lost cause and will vote NO regardless of how low their beloved rag gets
  21. were the SNP still not long odds to win in 2011 a week before the election? They do get it wrong.....how on earth can they accurately gauge what 4 million individuals are thinking? They can look at the form of a horse, on a particular race course , in particular underfoot conditions and current form but cannot possibly have any computer software to accurately know what individuals are thinking and their voting intentions
  22. Odds with Paddypower were 5/2 this morning...2/1 ten mins ago and now 7/4
  23. I did the same today when out for a long run (19 miles) Didnt take any water etc but the brambles seemed to perk me up.....they are fantastic this year...and so many of them.
