fringo Posted June 12, 2015 Share Posted June 12, 2015 Although we disagree on whether the riding positions are different or not, you've kind of hit on my original point. Obree's position is not that far out that it needs to be banned and that all distances set by him and Boardman using it shouldn't count towards the record. It's the same with Boardman's Lotus bike, the thing still had two wheels, a frame, pedals, gears and handlebars, and it looked like a bike. It wasn't as if he'd made an attempt on a recumbant. As such, no matter how much the UCI mess around with the rules, Chris Boardman still holds the record for travelling farthest on a bike in an hour. I do agree with you and that was sort of my point too, albeit from an untrained eye. Seems marginal and as you say it's still a bike with 2 wheels etc powered by a human. On a side note, you mentioned gears, but am I right/wrong in think these bikes actually don't have gears (and no brakes!?)? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
