niallb
Any locals know about the train system? We are flying into Poznan and planning on train to Warsaw. Looking on the website there are quite a few and regular. But does anyone know if I book one, am I restricted to a specific train? Just in case our flights are delayed would be good to know this. Couldn't see anything specific in FAQs. Alternatively, will it be any cheaper buying in advance than turning up on the day.... I know over here it can be a lot cheaper sometimes, but I still struggle to understand our own train booking system let alone a foreign one! Finally, and most importantly - can you take a carry out? spider pig
Train tickets are the same price whether you book before or on the day. Alcohol isn't allowed on the trains, but you can try.

trauts
we did the train from krakow last time, and it was great with a buffet car that we sat in, reasonably cheap too, we are doing same route as you this time from Poznan on day of game, you can book the train on their website( you have to register first) from 30 days before, its about £40 return I think, their are 2 types of train EIC (express) about 2 and a half hours and TLK about 3hours 20 mins but much cheaper. I am just waiting for the 30 day sale opening, once booked print off from home and thats yer ticket, On our return journey last time we had a carry out and no-one bothered. hope that helps

Al2014
Aye, for 2 of you. Don't suppose you know the Gin & Tonic situation with LOT? You can drink as much as you want but you have to pay for it, only water and a prince polo bar you get free, I was 8PLN for a beer on my last flight to Romania, so you pay but it isnt expensive
fanatyk
"But does anyone know if I book one, am I restricted to a specific train?" Yes, because reservation is mandatory, hence your ticket is valid on particular seat in specific train. No problem to go and buy ticket on train station when you get there (either in ticket office or in vending machine).

Spicey
Trying to book on the pkp website but cant do it as being asked for a pesel number. Any way to get past that? yes, from seat61.com... Warsaw to Krakow & other destinations within Poland... You can book Polish domestic InterCity trains such as Warsaw to Krakow at www.intercity.pl (here's a direct link to their online sales page: https://bilet.intercity.pl). The English button is top right, and you'll need to use the Polish spellings of cities such as 'Krakow' and 'Warszawa'. You pay online with a credit card and print out your own ticket. A number of seat 61 correspondents have successfully booked this way. Booking tip: Note that you can't use the 'book without registering' option as you won't have the necessary PRESEL (Polish resident ID number) so use the 'Basic registration' option to register, using your passport number in the NIP field. Alternatively, you can arrange Polish train tickets through highly-recommended Polish train ticketing agency www.polrail.com (their booking system is at http://booking.polrail.com), who can arrange train tickets for travel within Poland, or for international trains starting in Poland, for example Warsaw to Moscow, or Krakow to Prague
trauts
It looks like you are trying to book as a guest dave, the pesel number is for locals, you need to register with them first, then when you login in you can buy tickets and print them off at home
