ClanDerby
For the seasoned travellers and those that went in March, what's the best option for exchanging currency?? Is it Zloty or Euro?? Taxi from the airport is quoted in Euro. What currency do the boozers accept? Or prefer?

pencils
Took Zlotys the last time after a few folk on here saying to do so. Anyone know the name of the taxi company who gave their details on here a few weeks back?

ClanDerby
It's 35 euro from Modlin to city centre in a taxi. That's the quote they gave me.
peever1745
If you are taking pounds make sure they are Bank of England notes.Very few exchange booths will accept Scottish notes. You actually get a better deal using your card in the ATM's

ScotsRik
Best option according to advice for previous trip is to take English notes and go to local 'Kantor' (I think?) booth. We did this underneath Warsaw Centralna station and got a much better rate than available in UK and also better than mate who went to bank in Warsaw. We got more than 500 Zloty for £100 with no charges which was v good at the time. Apparently, the booths all vary, but I just asked and made sure there were no charges.......no problem! Al2014
Use PKO cash machines, i find they give you the best PLN to Pound rate, some of the Kantors will give you good rate, but some are dodgy
The Beer King
Some cash for the first day and your ATM card. This is the best way forward. Too many exchanges trying to rip you off.

Might just take some £ notes to get me from the airport to city centre then draw out from the cash machine.
fanatyk
KANTOR is definitely the best option. But don`t use those located on the airports! as they tend to rip you off. Find kantor in the shopping mall or in the city centre street and you`ll be absolutely fine. You won`t get better deal on post office, travel agent or even at the polish atm as most of british banks charge you 1 or 2 pounds on top of "not the best" exchange rates. Langtonian
surely the differential cant be that much unless your exchanging hundreds of notes

As stated earlier in this thread, take English notes as Scottish notes don't get as good exchange rate even at Kantor. I was there in March and the rate I got for Scottish notes was less than advertised for GBP.
ScotsRik
surely the differential cant be that much unless your exchanging hundreds of notes I remember in March thinking the same but also calculating that the 'surplus' I got from the Kantor compared to exchanging before leaving (for just £100) amounted to 12 beers!!!
