Orraloon
Coke & chocolate don't give people diabetes. They are one of the major contributors to obesity which can increase the risk type 2 diabetes significantly. TartanJon
They are one of the major contributors to obesity which can increase the risk type 2 diabetes significantly. Eating & drinking too much of them is the major contributor not the actual products .We can all enjoy sugary products and live a healthy lifestyle if we educate people more.BTW you make it sound so simplistic that coke & chocolate are major contributors to obesity when nearly everything we eat and drink are over loaded with sugars and additives. Aye , you're right. We should try to avoid all added sugars. Or at least keep our intake to a minimum. More and more medical folk are pushing for added sugars to be classified as "toxic" and are trying to persuade the authorities that foodstuffs containing them should carry health warnings similar to cigarette packets. As you say coke and chocolate are just 2 of the most obvious sources of added sugar. Almost all processed foods contain added sugar which is often completely unnecessary. I mean who in their right mind would want to add sugar to a curry? Yet loads of ready meal curries contain as much added sugar as a can of coke. I'm not just having a go at Coke and chocolate almost all food processors are at it. Lots of folk are pumping their bodies full of added sugars whilst often not even knowing about it. By doing so, there is plenty of medical evidence that they are significantly increasing their risk of type 2 diabetes later in life.
