ParisInAKilt
Couple of good articles on both. The Jackson was is current, presumably with this weeks game in mind. Found the Gallacher one in the comments section, it's from 99. http://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2014/nov/16/forgotten-story-alex-alec-jackson-scotland-chelsea http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/a-hero-who-died-of-shame-1124187.html
ErsatzThistle
What a player Gallacher must have been. Such a tragic ending to his life His league statistics for his first club, Queen of the South, are brilliant - nine games played and nineteen goals scored, not the other way around ! Incredible international record too. Twenty caps and twenty three goals scored Can't believe they left him out of the nominations for that "Scotand's Greatest XI" program a few years back. You could only pick a shortist of post-1960 players as I recall, which was an absolutely appalling and dismissive attitude to take . Pre-1960 Scotland greats such as Hughie Gallacher and George Young (54 caps), Bobby Evans (48 caps), Lawrie Reilly (38 caps, 22 goals), Alan Morton (31 caps, 5 goals), Bobby Walker (29 caps, 8 goals), Billy Steel(30 caps, 12 goals) and Billy Liddell (29 caps, 8 goals) should at least have been shortlisted.
