Caledonian Craig
Raonic defeated in Moscow, so It's in Andy's hands now to overtake both him and Ferrer this week and move into the final qualifying spot. Easier said than done considering where Andy's consistency and confidence is at and will need to beat Ferrer in the final (something he couldn't do last tournie) so it will be far from easy. If he reaches the final he will climb up to 9th but Nadal is being heavily tipped to give the WTF a miss as he will be having his appendix removed so 9th spot would then go through. Ferrer has also had a poor reason, resulting in him struggling to make the finals. Edited October 17, 2014 by min

Yes but the fact that Ferrer has been struggling badly and Murray normally beats him on hard courts then it was not great seeing Murray lose (from a winning position) to him in Shanghai. The good news is that at least Murray has reached the semis - he has beaten Struff 6-2 7-5. Edited October 17, 2014 by Caledonian Craig
Caledonian Craig
Marin Cilic is the fifth player of the eight to qualify for the WTF and in Vienna Andy Murray has just beaten Viktor Troicki 6-4 6-3 to reach the final of the Vienna Open ensuring he climbs up (at least) into ninth in the race to London. Cove_Sheep
Were Sky correct in saying that if Murray wins today he will definitely have qualified?
Caledonian Craig
Were Sky correct in saying that if Murray wins today he will definitely have qualified? No that is wrong. If he were to win today (lost the first set 7-5 though) he'd move into the top eight which is a qualifing position with still a few tournaments left where he could be overtaken. Caledonian Craig
Second set in the bag and looked far more purposeful in the second half of that set. A crunch third and deciding set coming up.

Caledonian Craig
Back on serve as Murray chucks in another sloppy service game. And in danger again of losing serve at 2-3.
Caledonian Craig
Ferrer breaks again and leads 7-5 2-6 4-2.
Caledonian Craig
Murray breaks back and back on serve in the third set. Murray is so damn frustrating for that. He gets a break of serve then hands it back and gets broken then breaks right back.
Caledonian Craig
And here Andy goes again undoing all his good work and handing a break straight back to Ferrer who will now serve for the match.

Caledonian Craig
Murray wins 5-7 6-2 7-5. Good tenacity but awful consistency.
min
Never easy watching Murray, but he gains revenge for Shanghai and beats a player ranked in the top right for the first time this year - so no complaints. Berdych beats Dimitrov in Stockholm - not sure if that'll work in Andy's favour or not as although no ground made up on Berdych, Dimitrovslips further behind. Nishikiri has opted to play neither of the 500 tournaments next week, so he's definitely still in the mix.
biffer
Murray safely through his first round match in Valencia 6-3 6-3 Berdych out in the first round so if Andy has a good week he should overtake him
min
Another comfortable - 6-2 6-4 - win for Murray! Hopefully another contender or two will slip up later in the day.
