  1. Ridiculous. We weren't good enough to beat Georgia so there was a UEFA conspiracy to stop us qualifying, even though we'd have gone out with a draw anyway? UEFA didn't seem too bothered when France failed to qualify in 1988, 1992 and 1996, or Italy in 1984.
  2. The SFA should be cogniscant of the fact that you can gain success through having a crap domestic league and sending your top two clubs to play in England. They achieved the first part years ago.
  3. After the qualification success of Iceland, Northern Ireland, Albania, Wales and ROI and the failure of the Netherlands and Turkey, it's difficult to argue that having a strong domestic league is consistent with success at international level. One of the reasons for Scotland's recent failure is that not enough of our good young players leave for England.
  4. Excellent article in the Daily Beast: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/06/16/gay-muslim-islam-is-no-religion-of-peace.html
  5. He didn't get much of a chance at Killie and was injured during the latter part of 2015/16. He would probably have vied for right back with Mark O'Hara if he'd been fit.
  6. ICT showing, with one of the lowest budgets in the division, that good scouting and bringing players in from the English lower leagues is potentially more effective than producing your own or signing overpriced Scottish players. It looks like Lee Clark will do something similar at Killie this summer. The benefits of youth development seem less and less appealing to the smaller clubs.
  7. We can compete at youth level because 80% of the players won't go on to be top professionals. From an under-15 side, maybe one or two will make it to be full internationals.
  8. If Shinnie is as good as people say, then why is he playing for Aberdeen rather than an English Championship side with a much higher budget? I've seen him play before for ICT and he was the best player on the park but would he really make much difference in comparison to our other left-sided options?
  9. I thought they lifted the ban. Anyway, who really cares. Killie turned into Barcelona for the afternoon (with a bit more pace up front) and that's all that matters. See you in the top flight next season. KTID.
  10. A terrific performance and full credit to Lee Clark and the players. Hopefully we can get rid of MJ over the summer and start moving forward as a club again.
  11. We seem to be good at getting friendly results against decent opposition but can't do it in qualification against fairly mediocre eastern European sides. It makes me wonder whether we would be better arranging friendlies away from home against the likes of Macedonia, Georgia, Albania etc. If we had won against Lithuania, Macedonia, Georgia (twice) in recent years we would have come much closer to qualification. If you have a major weakness going into a competition, it makes sense to focus on that weakness.
  12. Graeme Shinnie's a decent player but i'm not sure why anyone would be too bothered one way or another about whether he's in the Scotland squad. The difference between one fairly mediocre left back and another is hardly likely to make much difference to our qualification chances.
  13. Why does that make them decent? I wanted Bosnia to win in view of everything they've been through as a nation in recent years. They've also not stolen two of our best players.
  14. There are a number of supporters who get too drunk to have any idea of what is going on on the park. When we fail they then just blame their usual scapegoats. I thought Fletcher player well- he put in loads of work, won a reasonable number of headers and even managed to win some defensive tackles. Forrest set up the goal and gave us an outlet for most of the game.
  15. That's pretty much the standard SNP response to any failure.
  16. We don't have any young players coming through who look likely to change things. The youngest player in tonight's line-up was James Forrest who looks fairly ordinary.
  17. Are fewer children playing football? Does anyone have the stats to hand to back this up?
  18. This could actually be our last chance to reach the finals of a major tournament. The Euros won't be contested in a single venue again and the World Cup looks increasingly beyond our reach. There's no way we'll even compete with England in the next campaign. The next generation of players don't look any better than the current lot.
  19. What if Ireland win away from home in Poland?
  20. If we win our last three we should automatically qualify. 20 points would at least be the best third-placed side.
  21. I'm following the example of many Scotland fans and I'm going to wait until after the game to pick my team. If we lose, this means that I can publicly castigate all of the players who had a bad game and then get torn in to Strachan for selecting them. My side will contain players from teams like Derby County and Fulham- players who would undoubtedly have made all the difference against the world champions if they had only been given a chance.

    Scott Brown

A thread on Scott Brown and nobody has mentioned the drunk in the gutter with a pizza incident. He probably needs to ask himself if he has really committed himself to being as good a player as he could have been when he left Hibs 8 years ago.
  23. I accepted that Scotland were always going to be terrible at tennis but that worked out ok. I'm not sure that Jock Strap and I can be held responsible for last night's performance.
