  1. I've genuinely never had an issue with Wizz Air either, every flight I've taken with them I've enjoyed, and they are handy for the more niche venues
  2. Last point is a good one, my main criticism (not that I have any or much at all) is that at times on the ball we are a bit too laboured when moving it about, I get at times it pays to be patient with it but with a team sitting back against us I don't think we move it well enough on the ground to cut through
  3. Me too! Going to play it by ear on the day we reckon. I think the word "fanzone" is strong, but a few dozen people with cans might be a shout Do agree with the rest of the comments, it's gonna be about a 1500 attendance in a 30,000 seat stadium. Might have been a good atmosphere in one of the small grounds in Gibraltar. At least the traffic in and out wont be bad!
  4. Looking at the satellite images of the ground, there appears to be a large concrete area at the front of the stadium that could be ideal even for an informal fan zone. Just wanted to check from anyone who was there last time whether this was the done thing, e.g would it be ok to park up there for a bit before with carry out etc? The reason the thought came up is that if there are people not booked on supporters busses, the stadium is slightly awkward to get to from Faro town centre (short bus followed by a 30min walk) and even more awkward and long if you're coming from Albufeira, so there may be a lot of people who would want to get around the stadium earlier to beat crowds, but it doesn;t look like there is much by the stadium in terms of amenities, cafes, shops, pubs etc.
  5. Thanks- I'll check back in a month or two
  6. Anyone else finding it strange the lack of Ryanair flights from Glasgow or Edinburgh to Poland in November? Usually there's an absolute slew of Poland flights from both airports to quite a few major Polish cities. Wonder if the sales schedule hasn't quite started yet for those dates. Currently the only flights showing are mostly the higher end airlines like KLM or BA for over £100 one way. Last time we went to Poland for the Ukraine game there were several options more in the region of £30-40
  7. Febreze is a good shout. Gonna be some absolutely howling kilts by the end of it.
  8. From the looks of all 3 stadiums, the restricted view seats are more than likely specific to the sections where you sit under the overhang of the tier directly above, so you may have to crouch down to see certain sections of the pitch, this is fairly normal in stadiums that have multiple tiers of seating. Based on this photo, I don't believe there is ever a clear communication between FAs on the quality of seating reserved for away fans outside of disabled seating. In my opinion if rightly comes with the territory of the away fans having the shittest seats in the house as a rule of thumb. But that might not be the most popular opinion, also brings back my previously unpopular argument that away games should be treated as being unallocated seating, but I won't go there this time 😉 For the record, I do expect everyone to sit (or hopefully stand) at or by your allocated seat for the Euros.
  9. I've said all along it is pretty much Business 101 from the SSC these days. Not that they will ever make everyone happy all the time - and some folk will never be happy, but still very astute they are.
  10. I do tend to agree with that. I sold my ticket on for £25 because I couldn't justify charging my mate £35 for the pro-rated cost for this one game, being a friendly against a shit team. I know that's ironic because we lost. I don't think it was actually any cheaper for individual ticket purchases. Perhaps one to think about on tournament/nations league years in terms of fan experience that can go into the yearly feedback form. A ticket package for a full qualification campaign at competitive match pricing is easier to do and more acceptable buying a match ticket for 5 competitive home games at £35 a pop for example. I'd probably expect the turnout to be more like 40-45k for the Finland game being a Friday night and seeing that it's the send off game. It may be a bit much to expect a full house as mentioned previously a week before the tournament I'd imagine quite a few living outside the central belt wouldn't be too keen on spending money on travel/digs etc that they will be hoping to keep back to spunk in Germany.
  11. Fair comment, there is a trade off in internationals between trying all the talent out there available and getting a consistent, club-like mentality. The latter is harder to achieve in internationals and has been beneficial to date so I can see why he is continuing like this. Our main squad depth-related issue (outside of certain positions) is the drop off between the first XI and the second string, which we have seen badly exposed at times. The issue with Berti in friendlies was his willingness to try out players who were clearly not international standard and hence would rarely be called up again, which hurt any benefit we could gain from those friendly international breaks and eventually affected consistency, back when friendlies were much more common.
  12. Bit of a nothing thread this- probably to be lumped into the "people not being happy unless they are moaning about the SFA" bucket. Looking at the scenario in isolation: midweek friendly, uninspiring opposition. An attendance of over 30k (from memory) is a good outcome. For the past 20+ years I've followed Scotland the average attendance at home friendlies rarely exceeded 20-25k, save for an England game for example. The attendance from last Tuesday night might suggest then that the pricing for friendlies is still as expected based on historical turnout. The notion that we should generally expect to sell out friendlies is ludicrous. Another factor, these friendlies are sold in the match packages. I know quite a few people who didn't go and didn't manage to find someone to take their ticket, but safe in the knowledge that their seats for the remaining games are guaranteed. From the SFA's perspective, those seats are sold, but they don't maintain responsibility for turnout rates on the night, nor should they.
  13. I'm not giving up our hopes on one international break. Was it a poor window? Yes. Can we get better? Absolutely. I would be surprised at this stage to see any new faces. Trust the process. Greece lost 4-0 to Netherlands in a friendly in 2004 ahead of the Euros, so they may as well just give us the trophy now.
  14. Why do we need to keep digging back up this embarrassing thread title? To be fair I've not seen much slander of Clarke on this thread but there are undertones of people losing their nut at a couple of friendly results. Every international team has bad international windows now and again, the important thing is how the team respond, and as long as the "fans" don't start to pile on needless pressure facilitated by the gutter press ahead of a big tournament for their click rates. The stat much banded about I'll repeat: 15 wins from 21 competitive games - the last 2 being dead rubber where we played with a threadbare squad 2 wins from 19 Friendlies I'm not suggesting Clarke is anything like Berti Vogts, but the difference in approach and between friendlies and competitive games does have a certain similarity. Obviously Berti failed but he was the last manager before Clarke to take us anywhere near qualification.
  15. I hadn't even noticed Hanley's name in the squad tbh. Possibly the least likely to be selected out of all the CBs with >10 caps
  16. See my previous post about what Dundee themselves (and the league overall frankly) can actually tighten up around pre-match procedures when inclement weather may be expected to affect playability of the game. There are obviously a very shoddy set of communication standards at play. Dundee appearing to be the most common denominator this season. In the same way their security seem to fail to detect clearly dozens of flares being brought into the stadium, if that is what causes annoyance as well.
  17. Somebody might have mentioned it's £80 for the basic test 😄
  18. I think regardless of who it may advantage/disadvantage in the title race, the entire procedure and playbook around pitch inspections and pre-emptive action and contingencies needs to be looked at. Most other leagues when a game is called off for pitch conditions, there seems to be a common understanding that the game could not go ahead despite any best efforts. 2 or 3 weekends this season now there's been gripe over the communication of games being called off. While you can't control the conditions, you can control the communication around it, and when this breaks down it makes the league look tinpot when clubs resort to public mudslinging off the back of it towards officials or each other. Take the example of Dundee, if a game is in doubt, there happens in their case to be an equally suitable facility just over the road, so you could build a short notice plan for making that switch that takes into account all stakeholders and requirements to support. In pretty much any industry, management would be expected to have such contingency plans in place for equivalent continuity scenarios.
  19. What are the recommended sites to do this on? Also how do they check and how far back does it go? Never done this but always been in the back of my mind. I have one great grandmother who was Lithuanian (USSR at the time), going much further back likely English will pop up given my surname. Otherwise immediate generations all Scottish
  20. You would think so right. Some information would be nice, even if it's the type you could take with a pinch of salt. They initially said no ability to transfer at all remember. At least your reply is sensible versus the others losing their wig over me asking the same questions as everybody else 🤣
  21. There's another topic on this that folk are asking the same question, I'd say follow that for more of a guide
  22. I'll give you one thing, I didn't know you could take one post from one topic and quote it in another. Not that I plan on doing it cause I'm not in the habit of vindictively picking up people's usernames that I've previously had a falling out with and tying it back to previous conversations on a mainly anonymous football forum. Not very grown up at all in fact. Looking at your initial post your accusation doesn't even tie back to the main point which was some ramble about a rich/poor TA divide, to which if you read pretty much everyone else's responses the general consensus is that it's mostly a load of pish. But I'm done trying to justify myself to you on here. Enjoy your weekend.
  23. So I got the NI ticket thru the app. Giving the ticket to my mate who is not a member as I can't make it. unclear whether non members can get a login. No communication at all from the SFA - as far as I'm aware. It seems you can transfer tickets to people on there. No idea what happens to points from that. Others can't log in to your profile while you are logged in to the app. At least I trust the person I'm giving the ticket to as it's my best mate, so will log out and give him mine.
  24. If it helps anyone out as a potential option, my Mum works in a college and is considering applying for Voluntary Severance. Chances of being accepted for this are lower than other departments as she teaches a viable and in-demand course rather than the series of random unestablished vocations that snuck into further education in recent years. But if accepted, VS could tip the balance on her being able to retire a year earlier than planned. She will be 63 this year and hadn't had the chance to start building up a non state pension pot until 20 or so years ago when she started working full time. Currently she is dragging out long term sick leave, mostly stress related due to the fact public colleges are trying to do so much more with less resources. So she is much keener to check out early than she might have been even a couple of years ago.
  25. If you have a regular place that you've been before with a mix then that's probably the safest shout
