  1. My mate sent me this one he was compiling https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6pZC6l5eXdb2OUEo5lnIgs?si=KgUOxhIeQSiGtaxq91HM1g&fbclid=IwAR0zewW35-Wm56OKTFOO652pgBhPG81_gT2lgyxvZvskSe1AWZT3gSTVL4Q&nd=1 And asked me to send him more that I reckoned he'd enjoy, so these are very much aimed at a particular guy, but some crackers in there nonetheless. 2. It won't matter much because Clarke isn't too bothered about having out and out wingers in his team, but take Fraser and Forrest out (neither of whom will be fully fit) and we have some quick defenders, but not much pace going forward. Fraser and Forrest give us that outlet, but presumably only one will start, if either do at all. Christie is pacey, too, I suppose. I'm not convinced that Dykes, Armstrong and McTominay are particularly speedy, relatively speaking. Quick enough, sure, but not pace merchants. Certainly wouldn't mark that down as being amongst their strengths, of which they have many. Certainly, he'll be looking to the fullbacks for width (the speed of our centre halves will be good for defensive reasons, obviously, but fairly moot going forward), but no, we don't have much pace in the attack. Dykes, Adams and Nisbet are not blessed with blistering speed. Not a huge issue and not many obvious, lightning fast players who aren't included that should have been, but it's undoubtedly a feature lacking in the attack outwith two players who aren't, y'know, fit. Maybe three, if we count Christie.
  3. Really good squad and, the players missing through injury aside, our strongest players are all there. Yes, we could maybe have added a 4th striker, I'd have liked Gauld to be in there and we don't have much in the way of pace in the squad, but there are some quality players in there under a very good coach. Cannae fucking wait for this. Incredibly exciting. Going to hand out some right good hidings.
  4. Yeah; outside of Fraser and Forrest, we just don't have pace. I don't think he's brilliant, but he has been playing the last wee while for his club, has pace and could be an option off the bench if we need to change things with his direct running and speed. If it were a 23 man then he'd not get in, but for me, we badly lack pace amongst the squad for wide positions and it would be good to have the option to go wide should we need to. Christie has pace, but he tends to cut in. Bit out there, I appreciate, and I don't expect Phillips will get back in, but hey ho.
  5. Bunch of us booked into The Volunteer on Baker Street Fuss free.
  6. Right. Hummed and hawed over this for a while but I'm sure most of us are the same in that regard. I'd go with- Goalkeepers- Gordon, Marshall, McLaughlin Defenders- Palmer, Robertson, Tierney, Hanley, Cooper, Gallagher, Hendry, McKenna, O'Donnell Midfielders- McGregor, McTominay, McGinn, Armstrong, Gauld, Gilmour, Forrest, Christie, Phillips Forwards- Dykes, Adams, Fraser, Nisbet, Griffiths
  7. Definitely, yeah, it's very rarely a straightforward comparison. You look at Jack, who is not as good a footballer as McTominay or McGinn, who is not as good as Armstrong, but who will be so hugely missed because of the specific job he can do. Conversely, there are players who will be able to do a few jobs well who might therefore find themselves selected ahead of a player who can do one job very well. By and large, they are good dilemmas for Clarke to have, so there's some positivity to that. We aren't struggling, really, for players. We are perhaps struggling to find someone who can do what Jack does, but I think on the whole we're in decent shape across the XI. The formation doesn't tend make much use of wide midfielders so he might eschew the likes of Forrest and Phillips but I personally reckon they'd be useful to have, especially if we need to change it up. I'm not all that keen on Fraser being our only source of proper pace.
  8. Big Lyndondowski is in rare form all of a sudden and that can only be a good thing. He'll be in the squad and in contention for the XI, but Adams will be, too. It's going to be one or the other, barring injury. Whomever else does get included can get a start in the dead rubber vs Croatia, when we've already sealed our place in the next round.
  9. If Griffiths plays a decent amount and scores a decent amount in the last wee run of games then he might force himself back into contention, but him aside, you're either looking at Forrest if he comes back and maybe Gauld if Clarke decides to take a punt (I think the wish is the father of the thought, here). Might he have another look at Phillips, given he is playing a decent amount for West Brom of late? Tend to think he might not be overly bothered about getting a wide player in should he persist with the wing backs, but if we are going to bring a pacey attacker as back up to Fraser and Forrest doesn't make it, I'd rather Phillips than Burke.
  10. Accommodation booked ages ago, train down booked the other day, having a gander at the pubs nearby as we speak. Some decent enough options, but aye yer probably right enough, pre-booking likely needed.
  11. I had presumed that international travel would not be allowed yet come the Euros and as such any tickets from the 12,000 that would have went to the Croats and Czechs would be available to allocate in some other way, but now, it might well turn out international travel has indeed resumed. So long as they use the points system for allocating the tickets we do get for the SSC, I reckon I'll get one, but I'm doubtful any of the other people I usually go with will. So I might be faced wi a dilemma. Will being there wi a mask on, distanced from other fans, really be better than in a beer garden, inside a pub or in a house? Cannae believe it's even up for question, but that's the reality now. Presume a lot of us are having similar thoughts.
  12. Bunch of us going down as well, Thurs-Sun, staying just off Baker Street. Might end up regretting it, but even if I don't get a ticket (unless the SSC get nane I should get one) I still reckon it'll be decent. Looking at various pubs and beer gardens the now.
  13. Would seem eminently sensible to award league placings by alphabetical order and start the 2020/2021 season on that basis in August.

Aye, some contest at the top of that league. Only the 25 points between first and second.

Yeah, as I said an hour ago, in a post you quoted, he may yet come good. Doesn't change the fact that in his 9 caps and 460 minutes thus far he has been at best ineffective and at worst downright dreadful. As for Dykes, I can see a case for including him, but don't see why that would have to be instead of Mcburnie. Not like we are spoiled for options. Thankfully, Leigh Griffiths is fit and in form. Unless that changes, and if the game goes ahead at all, he'll surely be starting. Maybe as the only out and out striker, maybe not.

I don't think he has been putting in 'very high level' performances for Sheffield United, as it happens, but regardless, when he has played for Scotland he has ranged from poor to chronic thus far. If he does get game time in this game, we can only hope this changes drastically. Otherwise, he'll be a waste of a jersey. Again. If he can perform at an okay level for Scotland, that would be a marked improvement on his showings thus far.

McBurnie may come good and has had a few decent games for his club this season, but let's not act like he is having some revelatory season. Let's also remember that, at least up to this stage, McBurnie has been pretty rancid in a Scotland jersey. At best, he has been ineffective. I still cannae quite believe just how bad he was when he come on in Cyprus. For a guy playing at the level he is, with as many career appearances as he has, he was just a shambles. McBurnie will be included, though; we would be silly not to have him in the squad. Dykes might be worth a shout, but if he is not included I don't think it will be some fatal error or glaring omission.
  20. Aw naw, another excuse for the media to reheat their Andy Robertson/Queens Park articles. Forget I mentioned it!
  21. Aye, he hasn't been great. His inclusion would have spoken more to the atrocious alternatives, or lack thereof, rather than anything else.

He could make a good foil for a Griffiths, potentially. Tend to see decent to good link up play from Dykes, he's an obvious target for the corners Leigh can swing in as well. He certainly has given Jullien and Ajer tough times for Celtic this season and has done well against Rangers, too as far as that counts for anything. I'd not be against his inclusion.
  23. You'd have to check with the quoted Prof, or get a second opinion. Just going with the expert. But I suppose it's not hard to imagine organisations deciding to take an ultra-precautions approach to safeguard themselves even if it goes beyond the science as it currently stands. Also best keeping in mind that, as yet, it is not as severe here as it is in many of those other countries who have taken these steps.
  24. Aye, exactly. It becomes a foregone conclusion if he isn't included in that and they'd maybe rather keep the announcement to themselves. There is nothing about his being included in this unders squad that means he cannot also be named by Clarke in the senior one.
  25. Haha, cute. Obviously public transport is of more import to society than a football game, so one is more suitable to calling off than the other. Nonetheless, scientifically you are more likely to catch the virus on a bus or train than an open air sports event. Apparently. Just need to see how it goes.
