  1. You wouldnt want the very fond memories he created being tarnished by jogging on agaist Malta with 5 mins left Travesty how his scotland career came to such a halt
  2. i cant wait for the game next Saturday feeling positive don't think it will be stroll in the park but if we have any real ambition of making it to the world cup this is a game we have to win and i think we can For the game i'd go 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 Marshall Paterson Martin Berra Robertson Fletcher Bannan Burke Snodgrass Ritchie Griffiths

    Defence?

f fingers crossed he's decent and makes some impact on the national team in the coming years as were desperately short in CB position
  4. bit worrying that Grant Hanley cant even make the newcastle bench, i'd seriously be thinking about Berra partnering Martin against Lithuania as Hanley looked rusty against Malta and since then has hardly played
  5. well done to all involved and good luck for the tournament i hope its a successful one
  6. Aye your probably right, but im sticking to me positive outlook on this game its the Slovakia game 3 days later im concerned about
  7. im not claiming to be an expert on Lithunania football just a quick wiki look on them but IMHO theres nothing there to trouble us, i dont think we'll walk the game i think it will be nervy but if we choose the right players, formation and tactics and our players have a good game should be three points and in reality thats what we need and should expect Bit on Lithuania: Manager - 2 one year assistant roles at Hearts and L. Moscow & 1 year as a manager in Lithuania where they didnt win anything. Had 6 games as national manager so not experienced or successful Star Players - One player at a big club a young striker at Sporting in POR appears to be injured and only joined them in the summer and hasn't played for them yet so nothing substanial there. The rest of the players none at big European teams. Goals wise has two strikers one scored 6 goals and one 5 not at big teams and also scored against weak international opposition Recent Form - Last 6 games W 1, D 2, L3. Beat Estonia not a great team. Last qualifying campaign only won 3 games San Marino twice and Estonia. Only scored 7 goals from 10 games. Not much above to be too concerned about
  8. ryan gauld on the bench today didnt get on, surely he's got to get some game time on this loan
  9. the most interesting comment on this thread for a long time
  10. ryan gauld not even on bench today, i hope hes injured if not im starting to get worried about his lack of playing time i know its early days but i dont think hes barely played for this new team. Worrying.
  11. i know at the start of the season the bbc website had a list of scots players from he prem to conference not sure if its an updated list or a one off but was interesting, especially when you see how few players are in the EPL
  12. certainly still time for Gauld what is he 20 Big season for him ahead really needs a full season of game time
  13. i thought Kingsley did well at 22 thats 3 LB's we have at 22 or younger of the 3 i think Kingsley could do a job at CB good height, good pace and good positional sense. Worth a look for the national set up
  14. Great news about Burke really excited about his talent. If Robertson, Tierney, Paterson, Mckay, McGinn, Watt etc can progress as well we may have a decent team in the next couple of years I see Islam Fereuz is on the bench for his new Belgium team

    Defence?

Agree on this I would be aiming for a draw in both England games, im being realistic rather than pessimistic and if we can achieve that then that could be 2 more points that Slovakia or Slovenia get which could make all the difference. I'd be thing about a back three of Mulgrew, Berra and Hanley with Martin at RB and Tierney at LB and a central midfield of Fletch and McArthur We need to give the defense some cover and support in those England games

    Defence?

Last night we really needed to do better to stop the crosses coming in. We need to be stronger at the sides of the 2 centre backs as well as in front. The 4 guys I'd have in my squad would be Martin, Mulgrew, Hanley and Berra. Sadly I don't think theres anything else out there the nearest thing is Cooper at Leeds and he doesn't fill me with much confidence. We really need a defensive expert coach to work with these guys to try and make them better
  17. Pretty poor dive from the player when he didnt even appeal for a foul. Bad on his part dont you think you idiot
  18. certainly has promise and very excited about the potential he has but i would still say there is a lot of work to be done. His control certainly needs some improving but great start to his career with us
  19. fool, is that what your focusing on now
  20. great start to the campaign three points, decent performance hard to really tell with the sending off and pen. No yellow or red cards, no injuries. Cant really ask for more.
  21. Don't want to sound pessimistic but more realistic. I would take second place right now as one of the top 8 in the playoff and try our luck there. So i'm hoping an England win (very hard to type that) and a Lithuania win follow by a Scotland win. I'd say that would be a great round 1 for us
  22. Personally i dont think Gauld was played in his best position in that game needs to be much further up the pitch. The slight concerning thing is he doesnt seem to be getting any game time at this new club if he doesnt before the end of Jan transfer window then it needs something doing about it. Regards the manager i think we should be deciding on a style of playing, coaching, mentality and hiring a manager who meets that style dont raelly care if scottish or not just need the best man for the job and we dont need to be hiring them because they are a so called big name
