  1. The difference is one is postively celebrating one's history, whilst the other, although celebrating a history, is denouncing a religious group. It has evolved into little more than a drunken march by those who hate Catholics.
  2. Aye, it's no great, but it started to go downhill years ago when the raptors started communicating with the humans. But compared to Jupiter Ascending it's Oscar material. If you want a chilled couple of hours with a film where nothing much actually happens, catch Boyhood. Really enjoyed it.
  3. I would imagine there's some counting going on re the number of oldies that die each year and the number of young yins coming through. The Yes vote is getting bigger every day. Add to that the lies of The Vow, further cuts, impotent Labour Party etc and I would say five years is a distinct possibility. It has to be relatively soon because as popular as the SNP are right now, it has to end some time.
  4. That's how I found it, when someone posted the TITP performance. Couldn't believe the whole crowd knew it.
  5. How the hell did I miss this song during the referendum run up? Classic stuff and, as Tommy says, should be the anthem of the independence movement.
  6. In the sense that killing animals for fun is wrong, yes we are. IMO.
  7. This. They impose the views of a Parliament on us for decades and not a whimper is heard. The tables are turned and you'd think someone had shat on the speaker's chair. Get it right up them. Vote on every single English-only issue. At the end of this five year term they should be wanting to end the union just to get rid of the SNP. Morally we're in the right on this issue, and legally we have every right to vote.
  8. Watched Jupiter Ascending last night. Biggest pile of steaming cr@p I've ever watched. Seriously. I've seen some bad films, but this one takes the biscuit. I truly wanted to kill myself, but I turned it off after an hour instead. And whoever did the sound needs to find a new career. Watching Boyhood right now. Quite enjoying it.
  9. A pair of handcuffs in one house. My brother recently found, in his attic, a silver plate awarded to a teacher on leaving her school in 1917. Years ago my friend moved into an old manse that needed completely renovated. When he dug behind the word panels beneath the window he found an old bottle collection. A few of them still contained poison.
  10. I did figure that, but never pass up a chance to praise Neutrogena!
  11. Neutrogena. Best by a long way. Lasts all day, unlike a lot of others.
  12. The alternative might be Daniel O'Donnell music (although perhaps that would be just as mentally damaging). Personally I'd be against and IIRC I and the other local councillors were against a local store fitting them as it can adversely affect babies (and they can't just walk away from it).
  13. I used to occasionally use my pinkie to play the A. Mainly just to mix things up, but it lets you slide on nicely for a bar chord. Here's a question. Wrote and recorded a song many years ago and sort of made up a chord for it. I've still not figured out which chord it is. Held my thumb over three strings. Played the first string G, second string C and third string F. Nice sounding chord, but does anyone know what it is?
  14. I remember a couple of years back McEnroe and Henman used to do a Tv talk show thing where folks would phone in. Guy phones and says that Serena would be top 10 in the men's game. Cue a bit of hilarity, but the men were being nice and argued she wouldn't get in the top 500. Couple of minutes later they bring on Andy Murray as a guest. He hasn't heard the build up and had none of the constraints of a broadcaster. He nearly pissed himself laughing and was quite clear she wouldn't even get close to the top 1,000.
  15. I worked on the periphery of FOI for a few years, and IIRC you request the information from the body who holds it. There are various grounds for refusal - not in the public interest, unreasonable request (i.e. would take too many staff hours to complete) etc. If it is refused I think you can then appeal to the Information Commissioner whose decision, I think, might be final.
  16. Someone just pointed out this cracker from Edinburgh Uni history professor Jill Stephenson. She really has lost the plot - you choose, mental issues or senility: @Historywoman: .@CouncillorR2014 @AlanRoden They aren't even the worst. have you seen/heard the appalling harridan Mhairi Black? Foul mouthed little slut.
  17. The SNP could go tit-for-tat and half Labour's Scottish membership.
  18. Some of it is just bizarre. The guy who posted about Jackie Bird for example. He's having his name dragged through the mud for what is a pretty tame Tweet. I'm sure there are others like it, but I got bored after a few pages. Yes, some are pretty offensive, but I could type 'Salmond' and any abusive term into Twitter and come up with thousands of hits. It's embarrassing, childish and tells you everything you need to know about 1. The state the 'Scottish' Labour Party is in, 2. Blair MacDougall's level of political nous (and intelligence) and 3. Just how much they absolutely despise the SNP for taking away their divine right (as if we didn't already know).
  19. Two things I've heard at work: Jaggy MacB after hitting a car windscreen Lisa Simpson's looking rough these days
  20. Yes, sometimes you need to play around with your options. Quite often a £0 excess costs no more that, say, a £300 excess.
  21. Aviva tends to be ridiculously expensive, which is why, I assume, they don't use the screen scraper websites.
  22. Moneysavingexpert.com website will talk through the process. Everything you need to know is there.
