  1. Danny Wilson played the pass that created Fletchers goal which could have been the winner in that game, and the penalty was a blatant dive 😂😂 odd one to pick out. the bigger issue was the entire game away to the Czechs, we were good enough for a point that game with a positive set-up, they were a bang average side.
  2. Read my previous post for why he would do a good job. Ian Cathro, Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha were all “forward thinking appointments” at their clubs. we need someone to do the basics right and get us to a major tournament, the rest is Malky Mackays job. its hardly forward thinking of you to suggest that him being linked to the job is a “hun conspiracy” and yet you want to be taken seriously.
  3. Most people I’ve found having a go at Smith on social media or on here used the term “huns” or “sevco” in their argument, says it all really.
  4. In an era where Gary Caldwell’s application was seriously considered last week it would be laughable to say that the second most successful living Scottish manager wouldn’t be a good appointment. The meat and bones of it are that we don’t need the next Guardiola, we need to get to a bloody major tournament! In the last campaign 10 of the 12 goals we conceded were from Set-pieces and crosses into the box, Walter is an absolute expert at organising teams to defend crosses and set-plays. The job of our manager isn’t to implement a technical strategy for Scotland’s future success, it’s to manage us for 2 years to get us to a major tournament and Smith would be ideal to solve the above issue. on a side note I’d happily take Steve Clarke as well.
  5. The irony of all the comments about not having the bottle or being mentally weak is that Griffiths 2 free kicks at that point of the match, with him having the pressure of never before having scored an international goal showed more character than any player I've ever seen in a blue or many other jerseys, especially to repeat the effort. We lost the second goal because of a poor decision from Armstrong, he should have either played left or played a direct channel ball. It's fine details that win you games at this level, especially decision making.
  6. I think it would be a good tactic to actually worry about the next game first.
  7. Also think folk are reading too much into the Tierney article, he was responding to a question from a journalist in a jovial way rather than making a serious suggestion. It's a ''I'll play anywhere'' type cliche IMO. Think Anya is a stick on for right back on Sunday.
  8. -------------Gordon--------- Anya--Berra--Mulgrew-Tierney ----------Brown--Armstrong------ Forrest------Snodgrass---Ritchie -------------Fletcher----------------- I would like to see it differently but think Strachan will go with something like this.
  9. Snodgrass was utterly appalling there, how someone can train every day and still be able to mis-control every second touch was quite an achievement. Special shout out to the terrible back 4 and anyone in direct opposition to a Canada player but couldn't be bothered pressing the ball - especially against Aird in our own half.
  10. Incredible that Liam Lindsey isn't in the squad, been one of the standouts in the Premiership this season and looks a good prospect, especially given our lack of central defensive options in general.
  11. I would pick... -------------Gordon----------- Martin--Berra-Mulgrew-Tierney ---------------Fletcher----------- ----------Armstrong-Cairney----------- Fraser---------------------------Burke ---------------Rhodes------------------ In the second half I would experiment with a straight 4-4-2 and the addition of Leigh Griffiths within that.
  12. I didn't see that, can't remember Forrest getting the better of him, in fact Forrest was substituted after an hour for being so ineffective. I disagree with the other bit, not a fan of putting square pegs into round holes, we should pick one left back and build a hard to beat side that is organized and full of players who do their own job competently.
  13. Maybe the poster saw Wallace create our 2 best chances that night and play pretty well in my opinion. obviously you'll disagree but it's very predictable that you would.
  14. Don't think we're in a position to shut anyone down for the level they play at, International teams work in funny ways with unfancied players capable of doing big jobs for teams as we saw at the last Euros. But I wouldn't call up McGregor, has all the attributes of a really good centre-half but prone to small lapses in matches (especially bigger games) that tend to prove costly.
  15. This. Haven't really followed our players progress the same, have a general apathy caused by the fact that the manager is only there because the board are scared to sack him and our mathematical chance of qualification ending soon will be irrelevant because our real chance is gone already. The upcoming matches feel pointless because he'll be away soon regardless and I'm worried the players see the reality and feel the same. Maybe explains a lack of players pushing to get first team football to get back into the national set-up.
  16. The English championship is an overrated shambles. I watched Sheffield Wednesday v Wigan the other night and it was one of the worst games I've seen. Zero football was played, it was an aimless long-ball exercise and the standard was bordering on humorous. A mate of mine reminded me that Rob Kiernan was Wigan's best centre-half when Rangers signed him and it added perspective to the game ??
  17. Liked the look of this kid in our under 19's Euro squad that got to the semis with Calvin Miller, Wighton etc. Looked physically ahead of the rest of our squad and we could really do with a good prospect at centre-half. Hope he gets games and does well.
  18. McKay went through a difficult spell near the start of the season but Warburton showed good management (all young players need to be managed well) to give him a short spell out of the team and its reaping the rewards. He has been excellent from December onwards and I really enjoy watching him, he's such a positive player and is brave on the ball. He's got a terrific habit of showing up well in big matches which could bode well for international level. arguably his 2 best games for Rangers were against experienced international players at Celtic.
  19. No anti-Rangers bias on this forum.... Move along!
  20. I don't really think its acceptable to compare an adult purchasing a football top with an individual with a disability. It's pretty offensive and doesn't stand anywhere.
  21. Exact numbers are difficult to come across as they aren't often published ''club by club'' but I have knowledge of both clubs and they have thriving mini sections with qualified coaches. Clydebank just secured a grant to build an outstanding new facility, complete with facilities for other sports attached. Clydebank is anything but an affluent area, the club is situated in Whitecrook which is certainly not an ''affluent'' area. I feel your own personal experiences in Greenock have blighted your opinion of the sport nationally.
  22. Clydebank, Kilmarnock and many others from less affluent backgrounds have rugby clubs and decent junior set ups. Considering there are west of Scotland regional leagues, your ''west coast one club'' assertion is absolute nonsense.
  23. Or maybe because the pressure is bigger than any other club in Scotland, it shows their managerial ability to cope with pressure and expectation....something all of our managers since have failed to do. Smith and McLeish are our 2 best managers since Brown. But don't let your logic get in the way of your chip on your shoulder about the old firm.
  24. If trophies at the Old Firm don't count would trophies at Real and Barca count? ? Nonsense anti-old firm logic there. Walter didn't win a few, he won 20 trophies and is Rangers most successful manager since the second world war. McLeish won a treble, 4 other trophies and took Rangers to the last 16 of the champions league. I think they'd both qualify as ''having won things''
  25. Thought Lee Wallace was excellent, for all the raving about Kingsley or Mulgrew to start Lee created our 2 best chances. Would like to see what he would have produced against a side like Lithuania. In terms of the difference in the match....it's been the same problem for 3 years under Strachan. It's an inability to defend cross balls and set-pieces. If we didn't concede goals from corners and free kicks we would have got to the Euros.
