  1. How about an aggressive tackling game minus the fouls?
  2. Thought his comments were accurate and reflect Strachan's management. Some people's faces haven't fitted for him and I don't think it's to do with ability. Not saying Adam is necessarily one of those but some of Strachan's selections over the last year have been bizarre.
  3. Its a username ffs. you're telling us Brian Easton is a better player than Lee Wallace then calling us clowns ?
  4. What even is this? Brian Easton? You've made my night ? and a Rangers SFA conspiracy? Its been maybe 5 years since Scotland started a Rangers player in a competitive match.
  5. So you would start an uncapped player who is no longer considered a left back ahead of an experienced player who was in the last 2 squads? I thought some of Strachan's decisions were baffling.
  6. Maybe trying untested players in friendlies rather than Wembley would be a good idea though? Shinnie hasn't played left-back for 2-3 seasons, he's a centre-mid now and Kingsley hasn't played a competitive game for Scotland. Don't know what you have against Wallace.
  7. Strachan was raving about the performance of Tierney, Robertson and Wallace in training before the last matches. Happy for it to be Wallace rather than giving someone their competitive debut at Wembley. As Strachan would say ''I know what we'll get from him''.
  8. Going by this logic Gordon should never have had a football career himself.
  9. There is no tipping point for me, I support Scotland because its my nation. We don't get many opportunities to represent ourselves without being Team GB or being British. I'll support Scotland till my dying breath because its who I am. We have no divine right to qualify for tournaments and if we do eventually do it one day, I hope those giving up now don't come back demanding tickets for the tournament.
  10. Where did I say anti Irish or anti-catholic behaviour is fine?!!!!!!! Its appalling of you to claim that from my post. My post was about social norms, most won't challenge people in their own support singing offensive songs, whether its Scotland, Rangers or any other team. Considering your the one moaning about ''foaming at the mouth orange bigots'' and making assumptions about my club allegiances I think its clear who the one with an intolerance of others is.
  11. My point to Ersatz was that social norms are everywhere, and he should look inhouse if he wants to talk about other clubs supporters not challenging offensive behaviour. That song was xenophobic, plain and simple, would Scotland fans challenge this? Or is it different because it's England?
  12. On the train to the game on Saturday not one Scotland fan challenged a song about ''hating the fu**ing English'' If that isn't intolerance towards someone's nationality then I don't know what is Its the social norm (rightly or wrongly) not to challenge offensive songs by fellow supporters.
  13. I hope we dig these posts out if we qualify for the world cup.
  14. The real story of the emergence of clubs like RB Leipzig and TSG Hoffenheim is that they are almost pitted against the underperformance of traditionally big clubs like Hamburg and Stuttgart who have been managed horribly over the last few years. The real point is that it doesn't matter if you were founded in the 1860's or 2010's, if your club isn't well run then you'll fall behind. Clubs in Scotland would do well to heed the same message.
  15. I know this is a weird thing to say coming from a fan, but the opinions of individual fans actually don't matter or affect the result ? I'd be concerned if our players had a ''happy clapper'' mentality.
  16. --------------Marshall----------------- Paterson--Martin--Berra---Robertson -----------Fletcher-----Bannan---------- Snodgrass-----Burke-------Ritchie -----------S.Fletcher--------------- I think he'll start Robertson v Lithuania and Tierney v Slovakia for his defensive ability.
  17. They play a sort of 5-3-1-1, staying deep but usually offer a threat on the counter. The captain Fiodor Cernych is the talisman of the team if you like, he plays in the Polish league but tends to play above himself at international level, he scored an excellent goal against Slovenia. They have a new generation of younger players coming through like Spalvis (the Sporting player) but a number of older heads in the squad too. The 24 team Euros format has opened up an avenue of hope for them, and they'll be looking to build towards Euro 2020. They are a ''stodgy'' team with a real ability to sucker punch sides, I watched the 90 mins v Slovenia and they were incredibly unfortunate not to win (94th minute equalizer). They tend to be susceptible against real pace and power, which is something they lack in the squad. Lithuania are a competent and dangerous side, but I remain hopeful we'll pick up the 3 points.
  18. I think Hanley came through the Rangers youth system (before joining Blackburn) and Robertson was with Celtic before they released him. Tierney was in the initial squad too, before withdrawing with injury. 7 out of 24 isn't exactly brilliant either though, right enough! I would probably count Tony Watt as well, but around a third of the squad is a higher proportion than you would expect from any 2 clubs. But my initial point was referring to caps since 2010( rather than 1 individual squad), which was overwhelmingly weighted with Rangers and Celtic players (and Wycombe too somehow ?) I'm not saying they are fantastic at developing players, just strongly dispute your point that Rangers or Celtic developed players are more likely than others to fail and should be avoided.
  19. Rangers and Celtic have developed more of the current Scotland group than any of the other clubs. And obviously ''most'' won't make it in any academy, 95% of players will never see first team football at any club....
  20. The kid has only been playing first team football for 8 months.... He's obviously not going to have his positional sense down to a fine art, especially when its maybe only the second or third game he's played in the central area in his career. What is evident is that his physical attributes are top drawer for a 19 year old, and he has a skill set that I've never witnessed in a Scot in the modern era.
  21. positive optimist here! what's the point in it if you don't let yourself get excited? Wouldn't it just be Scotland all over if we failed in the Euro campaign then qualified from a near impossible world cup format? ? Looking forward to the next match already.
  22. I think lots of posters are judging Griffiths from a handful of starts 3 years ago when he wasn't half the player he is today. He is absolutely lethal, can now score all types of goals (including headers) from any conceivable distance, and his hold up play has improved dramatically. I find it hard to see how someone could argue he's not our best all round striker at the moment. A big miss tonight IMO. hope Fletcher/Martin/Watt can do the business instead.
  23. when you look at the experience and strength of the 21's squad its hard not to question the management when we get so many poor results. A number of that squad actually started or came on as a sub in the EPL last week. The 21's are crying out for a young enthusiastic coach who wants to try something different....and not another Stark, Sbragia type SFA yes man.
  24. ----Marshall------ Hutton--Martin--Berra--Robertson ---Fletcher---McCarthur--- Snodgrass---Naismith---Forrest --------------Griffiths----------------- Can see this being Strachan's team, would like to see Paterson, Burke, Bannan and give McKay some game time as well. also wouldn't be surprised to see Steven Fletcher sadly.
