  1. Made in Camelon. Mothballed in 1993 and umpteen rumours of a new distillery but nothing concrete. Brand still owned by Diageo. Worth a good few bob if you have a bottle, it's relatively rare iirc. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosebank_distillery
  2. Celtic letter writing as we speak............ ;-)
  3. Tried the Hibiki 12, and it is very nice. Went to a liquor shop in Tokyo station that does small tasting glasses and came away with a bottle of Fuji Gotemba (Sanroku) 18yo. Really fruity smell, taste hits early and again a nice sweet finish. Apparently pretty hard to find it outside of Japan. One of the things I've read up on was how rich people from countries/areas like Russia, China, Australia etc etc have been all over Japanese whisky in the past couple of years and the older expressions (eg hibiki 25, 30 etc) are nowhere to be seen, even for Japanese bars so best to get some if you can.
  4. Having partaken of a few tonight, the mrs likes the Hibiki Japanese whisky
  5. Following on from the Japanese whisky chat, it might have been this one that won the awards; https://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskies/nikka-taketsuru-17-year-old-whiskey/ Me and the mrs tried yamazaki and hakushu in a bar in Sydney. One was peaty like a good west coast Scottish whisky (but not as much so as a Laphroaig etc) and the other (hakushu iirc) similar but with a very sweet finish and nice indeed. Currently in Kyoto and very tempted to bring a bottle of something home with us as they seem very reasonably priced compared to uk prices. Any special bottles worth buying or recommendations for Japanese whiskies?
  6. An affront to English voters.......... We got a Con/Lib Dem government last time round that we didn't vote for. If the SNP play a part in the UK government then tough sh*t, that's democracy and what the people of Scotland voted for. Better Together and all that.....
  7. Roses are red, Violets are blue, This isn't my bed, Who the f**k are u?
  8. Not if he's got a grand on 4-0 Celtic.............. But that was pish poor, it was nearly straight down his throat.
  9. Sky really are priceless. The news app has a story entitled "Tests don't mean an Ebola outbreak is imminent". Right under that is one called "How will Britain stop Ebola from spreading?"............
  10. She'll just need to put up with her name like Mercedes, Chardonnay and Pocahontas have before her........
  11. The wife told me that 2 of her friends had to abandon their car and walk home a couple of miles from the shop the other day (Yorkshire somewhere, iirc). Then she showed me the picture they'd sent her. Nearly pished myself laughing. About 3 inches of snow and easily driveable, plus it would have melted/churned up and off the road in no time at all. I still maintain we should do what some other countries do and don't sign off on your driving licence until you do some winter driving.
  12. http://oahusbrews.blogspot.co.uk/2011/01/asahi-kuronama-black.html?m=1 Asahi "kuronama" black lager. Lovely stuff.
  13. Pearce and David O'Leary? I know that's quite a well known brothers substitute question, but not sure if it was England v Ireland at wembley......
  14. Jazz (Jasminder, iirc) Jutla at Rangers in the 90s? Think he got a couple of appearances.
  15. Try Mamma Angela's. It's north of the main train termini in Rome, 3 or 4 streets back. Wonderful food and very well priced. http://www.mammaangelas.com/ There's also a place called Ad Hoc, more expensive but do some nice set 3/4 courses, with selected wine with each course. Me and the Mrs went here after getting engaged last year. Up towards Piazza del Popolo. http://www.ristoranteadhoc.com/mobile/index-en.htm Or this one, http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187791-d799885-Reviews-Pietro_Valentini_Ristorante-Rome_Lazio.html Family run (husband is chef, wife serves, daughter does the money), sits off a small side road from Piazza Navona, looks like nothing from the outside but great food and the family are fantastic and very friendly. I'd recommend all of those 3 to anyone, but Mamma Angela's was my favourite, but they were all very memorable
  16. Massive reverse gear been selected on their facebook page Blaming it on one of the local bonfire groups now......
  17. Would agree with this, better with a recommendation from somewhere/someone. I use the one my folks use and the guy is great. Works for himself, really thorough, great service and price and if something doesn't need done immediately he won't push it.
  18. Does this make my signed Hand of God picture more or less valuable then?
  19. That stretch of road is notorious for police as it's 60mph coming up from the Raith interchange then changes to 50mph just before going under the roundabout. The police will sit at the on ramp on the other side of the roundabout or in at the area at the Hilton etc.
  20. Me and the Mrs are heading to Japan next year, (March/April) and just looking to see if anyone has any advice on things to see and do, stuff a bit off the beaten track as well or any advice on accommodation or trips to be done. Planning on being in Kyoto for a week or so, then travelling up to Tokyo for the same, with a stop off somewhere towards Mt Fuji/Mishima/Gotemba or similar areas. Accommodation advice would be really good, trying to sort that out at the moment. Cheers

These are men who have been promise makers and they will not be promise breakers," he said. "I will ensure that as a promise keeper these promises that have been made will be upheld." Gordon Brown, 20/9/14
  22. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/sep/20/scottish-independence-lord-ashcroft-poll?CMP=fb_gu Number 6 is interesting. One of the statements made up 25% of No decisions because they were getting new powers....... 5% swing next time, u say......
  23. With this strategy in mind, at the next GE, with it seemingly nice and close between both Tory parties, should we encourage UKIP up here and encourage people to go from Red Tory to UKIP? Force a Tory/UKIP coalition and imagine just how much that could f**k everyone up! Guaranteed Yes vote next time round....... ;-)
