Scotland's record in friendlies over the past 20 years have been awful(particularly ones leading up to major tournaments or those soulless ones under Berti) Thank God for the Nations League.
They've also got the big get out clause that their "alleged" main role is preparing players for the first team rather than results. Funny as out of the last three young players to progress (Gilmour, Hickey and Patterson) none of them really played under 21s or 19s. In fact Hickey deliberately chose not to. Anyway, young players are more likely to get in the first team through club performance rather than under age national teams.
Think that is the major problem. When Tierney went off the defence was simply awful. (No idea where or what they were doing) All three second half goals totally avoidable.
If Tierney is fit then back 5 it is. As soon as he goes off then we've got to revert to a four. No one else capable of playing the Tierney role to any effect.
Yup, out of contract in summer and no idea who the next Aberdeen manager will be. Could choose his clubs from mid to top of English championship (including Swansea). Big decision for him.
Who all had decent careers in lower leagues in England, (Rooney still bulldozing goals for Fleetwood) whatever happened to the ball playing midfielder who went to Preston for a million and chose NI rather than us. Probably the best player in that team.
Amazing that only McGinn went on to have a successful Scotland career, bearing in mind how shite we were in 2016.
Suppose you could add the St Johnstone double cup winning team who were full of Scots or eligibles.
Surprisingly probably Celtic during Rodgers first spell.
Gordon, Tierney, Armstrong, Brown, Christie, Griffiths and Forrest. Made up the main bit of the Scotland squad.
Sure the Dortmund police are willing Georgia on in the playoff. 😀
Turkey V Greece in Germany with big immigrant Turkish and Greek populations. Tasty could be underestimating the situation.
