  1. The Corries - Scotland will Flouish: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gkr9c_ok-7c
  2. Talisker. Planning to head up Arthur's Seat for sunrise. Will probably have to be carried down. You can probably start drinking as soon as you have voted though if that is 7am it could get messy...
  3. My wife has just told me she is thinking of going yes. I am tingling right now, I never thought this would happen. She has always identified as British, middle class, I have not pushed things with her as I might have with strangers as we still have to live together and I respect her views. But she has obviously been listening. What has turned her is her parents. She did a bit of research herself then raised some questions with them but they met her with scorn and closed minds. Ironically they are Better Together campaigners. And they've just lost the union another vote.
  4. Or the guardian. Never really liked its smug, better than thou attitude but it's been a bit of an eye opener how much the guardian fukking hates Scotland.
  5. Nice one Cove! I am thinking of Jedburgh half in November for my next race.
  6. Thanks partly to the fairly recent rise of social media bypassing the mainstream propaganda, this is the *first* possible opportunity for a yes vote in an independence referendum. Thanks to the end of the empire, devolution, wider global trends and how Westminster is likely to react to winning, this is also the *last* possible opportunity for a no vote in an independence referendum.
  7. They are also moving after a 'no' vote. They just forgot to highlight that.
  8. Bupa, standard life and BAe, that would be brilliant. A company that wants NHS privatisation, a bank, and a gun runner all going NAW. As David Hayman said, look who is on the yes side. Look who is on the no side. And choose your side.
  9. We'll find out in a few days. So far though, of the conversations I've had/seen, the only people who believe 'more powers guaranteed' are the ones who are voting no anyway. My undecideds are increasingly sceptical of the msm, which is good. One fulminating that it is a disgrace that he has to read foreign media to get an unbiased account of the referendum
  10. Let's say he supports Yes and we'll call it quits for the 2007 noose front page.
  11. I'm with Eddard - I think they'd use stronger language than 'interesting' for a yes lead - 'astonishing' or something like that. But trying to guess poll results based on adjectives used on Twitter is a fools errand, I am happy just to wait till they are released and ignore any speculation.
  12. I have spoken to some hard Nos today who think this offer is devo max... unfortunately they are the only ones who think this
  13. We all know the Queen would rather be ruling half the globe like her predecessors, but she's not daft enough to come out and say so. She will still be queen of Scots either way and has a grandson and great grandson to think of, why unnecessarily poison the well for their legacy? There is something to be said for a head of state who has no real powers but doesn't have to worry about 4 yearly election cycles. Gives them a bit of perspective.
  14. I am trying to think of the circumstances of a death at an Orange March which could be spun in favour of a No vote and finding it difficult. It is possible someone - perhaps even a secret policeman! - might throw an egg at Nigel Farage, at which the media, primed, would go batshit about racist Scotnat brownshirts, but the more hysterical they get, the more people will be scunnered at their pish. Off topic, but for me the image of the campaign will be the story I read of a group of Yes campaigners out leafleting and coming across an old guy, by himself, going round the doors with some hand-made A4 No Thanks leaflets. Here is a sincere unionist, alone, roused into activism by his conscience, and utterly let down by his side's reliance on mainstream media and astroturfing. The greatest, punching above its weight, financially clouty union in the world, leaving its supporters with nothing except DIY and a sense of hopelessness as their trough-addled leaders call another press conference and promise another back-of-fag-packet committment to 'debate' more ill-thought out devo-plus proposals. It's guys like that who will need a bit of love come 19 September.
  15. Don't forget Bangladesh. That was father of the nation Donald Dewars favourite.Or Alistair Darling's preference, Panama, trying to make us think of a Scotland as a early 20th century banana republic. But do a bit of reading on the Panamaian economy or look at pictures of Panama City - he's not really thought his insult through.
  16. Not so sure. Once you stop believing the fear it just bounces off you like kiddies ghost stories off a grown up.What's more likely is it will discredit the mainstream media in the eyes of even more people, which is good.
