  1. Didn't do enough to win it. And St Johnstone should have grabbed the 3 at the end. Not good enough, unfortunately.
  2. Makes no sense from a rankings perspective either, which should really be a key part of any decision on friendlies.
  3. Scotland Qualifying for a tournament over Aberdeen winning a cup. Aberdeen winning the league over Scotland qualifying for a tournament. Scotland getting past the 1st Round of the World Cup Finals over Aberdeen winning the league. Scotland winning a tournament over any collection of sporting eventualities from that day forth.
  4. Not sure about the shell suits, but the silver tracksuit top for the 86 World Cup was a thing a beauty. I remember playing a football tournament down in England when I was about 13, and we I was walking down the street with 3 or 4 teammates. We were all wearing the same thing without having planned it. As for the strips... World Cup 1998 was good. I liked the Euro 2006 Qualifier Diadora, and then the current Adidas home (just wish it had a real badge). Best away top was the 82 World Cup red one with pin stripes. Having said all that. France always seem to have the best designs (rugby too). About 80% of their tops over the last 30 years are better than anything we've had to show for ourselves. Seeing as their colours aren't too different, it's a little bit frustrating.
  5. Yes indeed. If we could find a way to combine gallusness with professionalism we'd be unstoppable.
  6. http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours-news/2015/1/11/7527653/chelsea-fc-cardiff-city-islam-feruz-loan-transfer-news#comments Feruz back at Stamford Bridge. Some interesting comments in this article.
  7. He says himself that he was terrible against England, so it could be that we have just seen the worst of him and maybe he does have something to offer. That said, I thought he was useless against ROI as well. All things being right he really should fall down the pecking order before getting another chance to prove himself at this level.
  8. Fantastic goal... Just hope it's not coached out of him. I was at Kevin Gallacher's debut for Dundee Utd (think it was against St Mirren actually) and he was unplayable. While he did go on to be a really solid player, he definitely quickly became more conservative and a different player to what was on show at first. We can always use at least one player in the team that plays without any fear.
  9. I'd rather have Ally McCoist in charge
  10. Didn't see the incident to be fair. However, until refs start blowing for contact in the box when the striker doesn't go to ground, I won't be criticizing them for doing it.
  11. This sounds like a carbon copy of what James McCarthy said. Does he qualify by parents or grandparents?
  12. Too bad that Aberdeen have been shite this season. With cookbook in charge of Celtic, they really had a chance to challenge for the title.
  13. This songs an embarrassment. Not because of the words, just because nobody seems to agree on how fast it goes.
  14. It's a while until the next game so definitely a chance for any strikers that are on the periphery to go on a hot streak and force their way in... Surprised to realise that May's only scored 3 for Wednesday so far. Alongside him I'd be looking to the performances of Rhodes, McCormack, Goodwillie, Watt, and Russell, Between them at least one I'd expect to push for the spot on the bench behind Fletcher and Naismith.

What you saw in the Ireland game is basically exactly what you would have seen in the England game.
  16. I was really glad to hear that we were playing them again home and away when it was first announced. The Wembley game was great (despite the defeat) and I was really up for it. I couldn't get that interested in this game though... A Tuesday night should in November. right after a key qualifier completely nullifies any importance to the game. I'd say there's no point in playing them every year at this point. It would be good not to leave it 15 years until the next one though. A two week summer tournament every four years between the home nations and ROI would be good....Need to find a way to make it meaningful though, like a trophy and medals, etc.

I think that makes him Scottish enough to be fair. That said, I really hope that WGS is rethinking his position on this guy. Haven't seen him for Derby, but from his Scotland appeances, I don't see what he offers the team at all. It does show how important S. Fletcher is for us (despite the lack of goals so far). If we need someone to hold the ball up and interplay with the midfield, we don't have anyone better.
  18. Looks like that's our chances of ever getting Greece as top seeds blown then... Feels like an eternity they've been there, but I imagine the might skip pot 2 altogether.
  19. Ligament injury to Blind in this weekend's Holland game.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30076255 ... This has to be Darren's chance to stake a claim for more regular action.
  20. He didn't cheer as loudly as I did for the goal, but I guess there were ladies present. I liked how he couldn't stop smiling. Somebody needs to send that boy a Scotland top for the games though....
  21. There's reasons for optimism as the young players coming in are looking good. That said, I thought NZ were poor today and made enough mistakes for us to at least put more pressure on their line than we did. In the end, I think we gave them too much respect. We could have had them today.
  22. Diego Costa got dogs abuse during the World Cup. Was that racist against Spaniards?
  23. I think that's a bit harsh on him to be fair, but maybe there is something in the Agent McGeady thing after all. Just glad Marshall made the save he did. A lot of keepers wouldn't have got there, and it would have been miserable to see McGeady having any sort of negative influence on Scotland's fortunes in this match.
  24. He's also one of the worst international football players I've ever seen. I'll be delighted if he's on their teamsheet again for the Dublin game.
