  1. found that CD in the house yesterday after reading this thread. that "tune" is pretty awful.. it's the usual Primal Scream trippy melodies circa that period of their work. you can barely hear the lyrics on the track though which is probably a good thing. I hadn't realised it was Irvine Welsh at the time as it sounded like the mumblings of Aidan Moffat from Arab Strap. I really dig the Fannies but no thought has gone into their effort whatsoever. it was either written in 5 mins or was an extra riff that they hadn't used up to that point and just repeats on and on "Hey Everybody, everybody" x 100". to be honest I'd forgotten all about them being on that CD.
  2. Still not one suggestion for his replacement here and sadly the Ronnie Corbett/Alice Cooper dream team cannot come to pass. Too much short termism in football will likely see him resign by the end of the year. And we'll end up with someone not half as good.
  3. Not to worry, the team GB turncoats can look forward to the Olympics. It's the Scottish lassies I feel sorry for.

according to last year's ATAC/SSC meeting minutes http://www.associationoftartanarmyclubs.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/MeetingSummary-10-Nov.pdf , come May (this Sunday) there will be an option to set email preferences so that we can opt out of the marketing. I am already looking forward to the test case when someone doesn't get emails about ticket sales for away matches because they were at the end of an email about the Scottish women's under 11 team playing against Lapland, information about the Hebridean Cup Quarter Finals (sponsored by Budweiser - a future SFA partner) and your chance to tweet/instagram/snapchat in for a competition to win the chance to enter a competition to win a rugby ball signed by Ruth Davidson.
  5. think the % only applies for tournament qualifiers. with this being an international challenge match it's likely determined between the two competing nations. looks like this held around 26,500 so we have less than 5% in this case.
  6. Just bought tickets to see Sigur Rós during the Edinburgh International Festival. Special Delivery = £6.50. Standard Post = £0.80.
  7. Why you getting it delivered twice?
  8. finally (for now), why is it that the football authorities in England and Scotland are coming round to the idea of trialling safe standing areas? it's a direct result of football clubs and their fans looking at ways to increase the atmosphere. Dortmund's stadium is an excellent case in point. it's the standing in the seated areas that were thrust upon us in a panic to Hillsborough that has made these areas dangerous. and as Lord Justice Taylor said, "standing is not inherently unsafe".
  9. also, think about why managers stand during matches. not necessarily to get a better view (as is always pumped out) as they could go sit in the stand. it's because they are immersed in the experience of the event. perhaps Jurgen Klopp should be requested to take his seat on the bench? rather than just cheer politely at the good bits there are a lot of supporters who are immersed in every kick, touch, run and decision and many find it easier to express that on their feet than on their erse.
  10. not stats as such but I don't think attitudes have changed much from this report being published in 2007. http://www.fsf.org.uk/media/uploaded/safe-standing-report-web.pdf think about why the authorities want to enforce standing. they'd like nothing better than quiet fans sitting and applauding politely. more money to be made that way if they keep the spectators' passion under wraps.
  11. delighted that they've opened up the sale of kids tickets throughout the ground. for the past four or five campaigns I've taken my kids (now 16 and 13) to the North stand so they could be with my mates. i've had to pay adult prices for their tickets. went once to the family section in the East stand and didn't really enjoy it (me or the kids). so it's better that they can get kids priced tickets throughout the stadium now. no problem with everyone standing in the North stand - the kids just stand on the seats if they cannae see. South stand is for sitting. I do wonder what all the sitters would have done 20 years ago when it was terraces. probably have followed rugby is my guess.
  12. fingers crossed you get your nat king Fraz.
  13. been down there a few times for matches as I've a mate that is quite fond of them. The centre is quite disappointing to say the least. the past few times we've drunk in Newcastle and then trained it over to Sunderland. pub nearest the ground is ok - think it's called the Colliery Inn or something like that. first time I'd ever seen automated lager taps was in there. they had to blow the cobwebs off the guiness tap when I asked for one and then had to pour it manually. not sure if Magic City is still on the go or not but when I went to a match years ago with a football team I was playing with quite a few of the guys went there pre-match. kind of a strip bar in an old theatre from the sounds of things but not really my thing. last time I was there (v Crystal Palace last year) I witnessed what was probably the worst game of professional football I've ever seen. there were only two highlights on match of the day. Sunderland hitting the post and the CP keeper slipping when he went to kick the ball out.
  14. wishful thinking on my part - wanting to return to the strip maker from when we qualified for tournaments. meant to say adidas.
  15. my kids got the ones from Ali Express for just over £12 each. home one is a slightly lighter shade of blue. badge on the pink one is a slightly darker pink. both came with full umbro badges, tags etc (even though this isn't shown on the site which I guess is down to copyright) about two weeks after ordering.
  16. Macedonia the first time in the baking heat was awful. As was Chisinau (without the baking heat). Novi Sad wasn't particularly great either. And the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza is a concrete lump albeit having witnessed some incredible matches and teams. But Serravalle for San Marino wins it for me. Nae lights around the stadium and steep temporary terracing made it tricky to navigate - especially reeking.
  17. should be easy enough to play your way into the team and get on the SFA charter. never say never.
  18. 16,000 renewals at last Tuesday apparently. definitely looking like a huge drop in membership even if they were to get 20,000.
  19. Only a couple of hours in the train from CDG. Flight times from EDI make it an easy one nighter.
  20. From the ATAC/SFA meeting last year - http://www.associationoftartanarmyclubs.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/MeetingSummary-10-Nov.pdf Ticket Pricing WC Qualifiers ATAC - Ticket pricing was an emotive subject during the Euro qualifying campaign, we do not wish to dwell on that and would prefer to suggest a pricing policy for the World Cup qualifying campaign which reflects, we believe, the timing of fixtures i.e. day of the week and kick off times, the opposition, the economic climate and feelings of the fans. For all qualifying home fixtures (bar one) we propose that an individual adult ticket price of £25 (North and South stands) and £20 (West and East stands) be levied with an appropriate discount for children. SCOTTISH FA - We have not, as yet, finalised our ticket pricing policy for the forthcoming 2018 Russia World Cup campaign. A ticket pricing proposal will be presented to the Scottish FA Board for consideration. We are considering classifying the individual fixtures, based on FIFA rankings, into three categories one, two and three with a different price point for each. ATAC - England at home there are many who argue that this fixture is no different from the others) We fully recognise the commercial opportunity presented to the Scottish FA through this fixture and that there will be a demand for tickets that is unlikely to be realised by the other home matches. Accordingly we would expect and support a differing pricing structure for this match. We propose that this match be priced at £40 (North and South stands) £35 (West and East stands) again with appropriate discount for children. SCOTTISH FA - We refer to our previous comments regarding potential categorisation of fixtures.
  21. some good reviews for the book on Amazon. great to see all the proceeds going to the Sunshine Appeal too.
  22. I completely agree. That is one of the reasons I'd like to see Griffiths given an opportunity. He isn't afraid to have pot shots from distance and his accuracy is decent. Too often over the recent past we've depended on Fletcher, Miller, Naismith Tec holding the ball up when a bit more directness has been required. There are many reasons for our recent failures as listed in this thread but if we can eliminate some of them then things could turn our way. Be that 12 points from the bottom two seeds, winning all home games, keeping more clean sheets, having a tougher mental attitude amongst fans, players, managers, media etc. I'd add a bigger top league to the list. Too many opponents to a top flight of say 18, give their reasons as too many meaningless games and less cash from TV or gate receipts against the "big" teams. Well those meaningless games give the chance to blood young players, improve technique, attract larger crowds, qualify for tournaments which in turn provides more income for the SFA to split between the clubs and has the knock on effect of making our game more appealing to TV and to paying customers. We're just far too short sighted.
  23. according to the SFA/ATAC minutes the SFA have already had a "significant outlay invested in the production of items". not sure how they can do this before they know a) how many renewals they'll get and what sizes of polo shirts will be required.
