  1. Is this not overly complicating things - From what I can see using a results calculator if Scotland beat Poland and germany beat Ireland ( The most likely result in Germany game) Poland would be on 17, Ireland 15 and Scotland 14 --- With Scotland getting a gauranteed 3 pts against Gibraltar to take us to 17 - Any result in Poland v Ireland game would leave us ahead of Ireland if Poland win or it's a draw, and level on 17 with Poland - and 3rd on haed to head by virtue of getting 4 pts out of 6 - if ireland win.....
  2. I think Scotland will now not qualify - Even if we beat Poland - which is no "given" - and get to the Play Offs, we will lose regardless of who we play - Love to be wrong, and pay a £25 Charity Bet out I have struck on here !, but doubt it. Ultimately, I can see, despite what WGS says to contrary, "settling "for a draw in Dublin with 20 mins to go being the thing which comes back to bite us.
  3. Yet more evidence that, more often than not, "wind ups" just aren't funny.......
  4. I'm a big Who fan, but would have to agree with the 2nd line there - I've seen the Who 3 times recently - Twice in 2013 on Quadrophenia tour and last year at Hydro on 1st night of current tour - Each time they were great, definitely still "had it".....But something has happened since then, I think the Glastonbury, and subsequent, setlists have been very "safe", it's as if the attitude now is "Protect Roger's voice at all costs"....I'm going to USA to see them in October and to be honest, I'm almost not looking forward to it -- If they can't hack it live anymore, I'd rather they chucked it than gave us "Who Lite"..... Seems to be quite a common thing now by looks of it - Remember a few critical comments along same lines on here about the recent AC/DC gig at Hampden, definitely felt same watching TV coverage of Motley Crue - of whom I'm def a big fan - at Download -- Had all the hallmarks of going through the motions - and one of my mates whom is a massive Motorhead fan is not interested in trying for tickets for their January gig as he reckons Lemmy can't do it anymore.. Sad really when you see legendary bands - regardless of your own personal tastes - continuing on, a shadow of their former selves, because they can't afford to, or simply can't chuck it..
  5. Thanks for all the advice folks, really appreciate it. Just a couple of specific questions if that's okay - I'll be doing an 11 hr shift (With breaks) from 9pm - 8am and I have 60mins travel either way - For exercise I go swimming, the pool I use is literally 2 mins from work and train station - From walking in door , changed, swim, shower, changed back out takes me about 1 hr - am I better going in the morning after my shift or at night directly before.. Also, meals wise when i wake up in late afternoon, am I better eating a "normal" dinner c5pm, then taking rolls etc for eating through the night, or am I better having a light snack at 5pm and taking a bowl of pasta or whatever to have as a main meal / dinner through the night kind of thing ? Cheers again
  6. After 25 year or so of being a 9-5 mon - fri type worker in the main, have been offered a job which is constant nightshift, 4 on, 4 off type work - it's the same type of work - telephone, call centre type work - so not physical job. Just wondering if anyone who does work / has worked nightshift in the past could offer any advice / tips on how best to deal with the hours / shift pattern ? I've looked on line and most comments seem to be very generic and / or predominantly aimed at Doctors ....looking for folks own experiences please, what works / doesn't work..... Thanks in advance
  7. Not East Coast, but The Cairn in Auchterarder ( forgive my spelling) is really nice
  8. Oh yes - Like that one - Midnight Sun is lovely too 13th Note is another place with a great selection of Craft beers
  9. He also missed an absolute sitter it has to be said...
  10. Is that possibly what the problem is - Folk are judging 11pts at this stage against previous campaigns where we stunk the place out and were out of it by now, as opposed to where we need to be to qualify for the tournament... The is absolutely no doubt Scotland have improved massively under Strachan, however the harsh reality is if we don't qualify - looking at this campaign only, not factoring in "Pots" for future - then "improvement" means nothing - we still need to add 2 years to our "time since we qualified" clock....
  11. Maybe I don't..I've always took it to mean the player - usually a midfield - who dictates the tempo, and / or has the biggest influence on the outcome of the game...
  12. End of the day, we'll find out in November - If Scotland make Play-offs. I'm happy to offer a £25 bet to either or both of you Scotland will lose Play-off to which ever team they draw - And will be happy to pay up if I'm wrong
  13. I stand by my comment re Brown - He can "boss" games - when he is allowed to --- When he gets it back so to speak he tends to revert to whingeing crybaby mode from what I've seen -- Also feel the "and Mulgrew" part could be the difference, obviously understand why Mulgrew played centrehalf yesterday tho
  14. They weren't good enough to capitalise on it - fair enough, but - without being privvy to O'Neill Team Talk - Ireland clearly set out to intimidate and unsettle Scotland with their rough-house tactics - Save the one moment of quality in either games and a deflection it worked --- I can be as biased as anyone when it comes to Scotland but they were 2 poor, poor games which both "deserved" to end 0-0. Just because Ireland couldn't execute the tactics well enough doesn't mean that other, better, teams won't learn from what they done
  15. Post Match Reaction - Having had time to reflect, in no particular order:- Forsyth had possibly the worst first 10 minutes in the history of International football - I actually thought he was going to be subbed at one point Brown is completely ineffective whenever anyone stands up to him and refuses to be bullied / buy into the Hardman Broonie myth Naismith - a player I like - needs to put on about a stone / toughen up at this level - He gets knocked over far too easily Now we no longer need a convenient stick to beat Levein with, can we please get rid of Fletcher Generally, Irealnd showed that this Scotland team, in the main, cannot function against physical teams Despite protesting otherwise pre - game, Starchan set out to "play for a draw" from c70 mins on In doing so he all but guarantee Scotland are playing for a play-off place at best Scotland will get taken apart by whichever team they meet in said Play-offs -- Ireland have shown the prototype to beat Scotland - Physical Centre Mids to take care of Brown and Centre halfs to nullify the powderpuff attack - All a team needs is a bit more quality on top of that than Ireland had - which let's be honest, they will ALL have and Scotland will be easy meat
  16. Dr Stewart Hillis aka Omar (Shariff) - Passed away recently IIRC
  17. No - I believe Scotland would lose a Play-off - We're not good in "Crunch" games - So therefore will have to be Top 2 to qualify -- For that to happen we, imo, need to win in Dublin
  18. This one really irks me - NO-ONE died at Kenilworth Rd, not even close - Yet this is continually lumped in with "Hysel" when the subject comes up and Millwall fans, then, as now, totally vilified..whereas Liverpool fans ? Well, they're just lovable rogues aren't they ? Not their fault 39 people died in Brussels, no Sir...
  19. So, cutting to the chase, 50 odd posts in, are we all gutted no-one has bitten ?
  20. My Mum and Dad had they "Mirror" wills that someone mentioned as they both left everything to each other, it actually caused more hassle to sort stuff out when my Dad passed away than if he / they hadn't had one - So I wouldn't bother with a will if you are leaving everything to your spouse anyway. What I do have is a "Living Will" and I'd definitely recommend one of those, basically I don't fear being dead, but I do fear being left paralysed in event of illness / injury - My Living Will gives instruction to family / Doctors of what to do in certain scenarios It cost me £50 from a Solicitors office about 10 years ago
  21. Despite not being a Man Utd fan I enjoyed the Stadium tour - I went in 2005 and am sure there was only 1 tour type available at that time - Was very surprised by the Home Dressing Room - Thought it was pretty basic and ordinary, considering the stadium / club. A step up from your average sports centre, fair enough, but not much to be honest
  22. Only player I've watched score a hat trick against my club AND my country
