Only worth it if, when it comes of age/you decide to bottle it, you can sell most of it back to the distillery or to another company and keep a few bottles for yourself or your old man.

The purchase cost isn't too bad, neither are the storage or bottling costs, but when it's bottled you need to pay spirits duty and that's a killer.

Only possible exception is if you can find a much smaller than normal cask from somewhere.

My old man is 60 next year, trying to think what to get him, anyone ever bought a whisky cask?

Is it worth it? or is it a load of old nonsense?

Is he no getting to the age where you shouldn't even buy him green bananas never mind something that isn't going to ripen for 10 years or so?
