  1. Good point - Tierney was class and McGregor showed up brilliantly against top rate opposition, and seemed totally unphased by their reputation (a hallmark of an international)
  2. Lindsay plays 90 mins in a Barnsley win. Why is he not in the squad?
  3. What is the script with him? At his age he should be playing for our or England's u21s or our full squad. He could play for us in this friendly and still change his mind if he wanted. Him not being involved in international football at all isn't doing him or anyone else any favours.
  4. Totally agree re Forrest - best player on the pitch by a mile.
  5. Genuine question: what anti niemi patter?
  6. If it was me I wouldn't want to leave a good club job/career to manage Scotland until I had at least a few trophies in the cabinet. Ideally the league but more realistically for Aberdeen, another League Cup and a Scottish Cup too. Think he will manage Scotland one day, but not in the next decade.
  7. Double-edged sword this. Sometimes you need pressure. I could see us obtaining a playoff NL place, then going into the qualifying groups proper, suffering a mediocre start and instead of fighting tooth and nail to get back into it, just taking our foot right off the gas - similar to teams playing in the League Cup who have one eye on another competition/prize.
  8. Cue the obliterated pelvis and 'where did it all go wrong' newspaper article
  9. Well said. Moaning about having no CBs while not giving the ones we do have a chance.
  10. He played and scored for the Scotland u21s last week. Strange he's not even on the bench.
  11. Klopp might not be there for too long if Liverpool continue to stutter
  12. Advocaat with gemmill as his number 2. Liking the sound of that. Sure Advocaat was in press recently saying working in Scotland was a highlight of his career
  13. Would be a very interesting option. Knows the Scottish game so we would avoid a paul le guen style clusterf*ck
  14. Which is why we must find a replacement for him before next September. He's 32, teetering on the edge of retiring again, and surely on the brink of decline. If we pin our hopes on a fit, commited Scott Brown for the Nations' League we're just setting ourselves up for a rerun of the Darren Fletcher situation. Get McGinn, even Shinnie in now and see if they're up to it.
  15. Sounds amazing! Any stadiums like that in existence already?
  16. Racist bigot/banter merchant
  17. That's my fear. I don't think any of the candidates mentioned are in the Burley mould - Moyes, Mackay, Lambert etc seem really self-confident and bolshie enough to command a dressing room, but it could go wrong in other ways, i.e. if they are too dictatorial or arrogant.
  18. The Slovakia game last Thursday? TBF we pumped them raw for most of that game. 20 shots on goal I think. If we had drawn that one I think it could fairly have been classed as a bit unlucky.
  19. Here's an idea: Give him the nations league with the objective of winning the section to prove the recent run of form was not just luck. Means we're not rushed into appointing malky Mackay or some such shite, and if Strachan fails to win our section we can punt him and still have a second bite of the cherry at qualifying via the standard qualification groups.
  20. That's a good shout. Won't happen though because we're a disorganized shambles.
  21. Glorious failure... to spell the thread title correctly
  22. Think the playoffs for the NL are March 2020. Not sure there are playoffs for the normal qualifiers?
  23. Also not ideal to have him taking corners - would much rather have him in the box than at the corner flag
