It took him a long time to win them over, McTominay is very similar in playing style to Fletcher.

Watching Burke tonight for Celtic for the first time since he came on loan. There’s definitely something missing from his game with regards to awareness but with pace like that I’d have him in every squad if he’s playing at club level.

Due to the fact it’s not full strength, I’d class it as experimental. Palmer is a bog standard championship midfielder/defender who has had a pretty average career, hasn’t been involved in our setup for years and for all we know might not even be interested any more. I’d consider Tierney, Paterson and Ryan Jack all to be more suitable replacements for O Donnell.

Friendlies are the time to be experimenting, not qualifiers against relatively unknown quantities. Also, Liam Palmer? Really?

Toffs have a decent range, Aztec Retro are worth a look, albeit they only tend to have one Scotland top available at a time. Their recent 78 away was different class.

I think part of the reason for Fletcher coming in for so much criticism under Strachan was that we didn’t have the same quality of runner and no 10 to benefit from Fletcher’s hold up and lay off play. I thought the last 2 games were arguably Fletcher’s best for us but there’s no doubt his work is appreciated much more when there’s an end product to his unselfish work. But aye I do agree with you that many don’t rate him purely because “doesn’t score enough goals”.

Being that he’s been mentioned as a potential pick for us it’d be better if he moved to a bigger Championship side, than a EPL struggler I reckon. Have we ever approached him to ask if he’s keen to play for us?

McNulty with his first goal for Reading. He’s found starts hard to come by but it’d be good to see him get a run in the team.

I’d say he’s still considerably better than any other option as 3rd keeper.

This was my first. Went after school in my mates dads car which was seriously overloaded. Went to the rest of the home qualifiers in that campaign. Had a few dabbles with the national team since then until Dortmund in 2014 when I finally got the bug.

Exactly, the guy is 60 and gets his words mixed up now and then, I’m 44 and struggle to remember what I had for breakfast. Bobby Robson couldn’t remember certain players names but I don’t remember him getting the same level of ridicule.
