Use of the term "Hun"
Fairbairn replied to Diamond Scot's topic in Football related - Discussion of non TA football
I’ll start off by saying I personally take no offence in being called a Hun. I’m pretty sure when the term was first used it was primarily to reference Rangers fans however over time it seems to have evolved. When it’s also used in various forms to describe the likes of Hearts or Airdrie fans who tend to possibly have the same political or religious view points as your average Rangers fan then I think it’s quite clear it’s no longer being used to describe one clubs supporters and that’s when it starts to get a bit murky for me. There’ll be a lot of mental gymnastics from people trying to defend it but it is used to define a particular demographic of people, as well as a catch all for Rangers fans, and in the majority of those cases it tends to be in a negative sense. -
Europe 23/24

Sima was the only outfield player to get pass marks last night, and probably for the last few games. I think he might be decent in a better team. Lammers and Dessers look like they’ve won a competition. -

He sounded like he was on suicide watch from kick off. Watching this Rangers side regularly will do that to you to be fair. -

Kevin Thomson. Usually quite like him but he’s been murder tonight. -

We are utterly abysmal. The worst Rangers team I’ve seen in a long, long time. And I’ve seen a Rangers team with Kevin Kyle in it!! I just want a bag of cans and 2020/21 back!! -

Watched it back this morning and while it is still probably a foul, the Livi player went down like a ton of bricks. -

Id agree. If it had been the other way round I’d have been asking for a foul. -

Different times. 145 goals in 163 games for Rangers and got 2 Scotland caps in that time!! We’d be building a team round him now! -

I'll stick some more up when I get a chance. All taken with my iPhone which, while it's a decent camera, don't really do it justice. Had enough trouble dragging the kit I had and my fat arse up the mountain though so a decent camera would have (literally) tipped me over the edge! 😄 -

Tried it? I've had to go cold turkey since I got back on Sunday! 😄 -

Series Worth Watching
Fairbairn replied to village idiot's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
It's really good but they made it needlessly confusing when it switched to Netflix and rebranded the original C4 Top Boy as "Summerhouse" and just calling the new Netflix seasons Top Boy. I know a couple of people coming to it late who thought the Netflix seasons were the first ones and Summerhouse was a sequel/prequel. PS - If you enjoyed that and haven't seen it check out Snowfall on iPlayer. -
Season 23/24

Can't disagree with that. Can also add Lewis Ferguson and Josh Doig to that list of players we should have been in for. -

I think the Betis win has bought him some time. Win on Wednesday and he’s 2 wins away from the first silverware in a few years. Still think it’s too early to be pushing the button just yet but he needs to find a way to get them playing with some attacking flair -
England Squad - Do we have anything to fear?
Fairbairn replied to N4Footsoldier's topic in TA specific
He's not even playing at Man U! They're not as strong as they used to be at CH (when they had Ferdinand, Terry, Carragher etc) but I don't think there's anyone in our squad you could say is definitely better than what they have. -

I'd have Robertson over Chilwell too. And I'd have Alan Rough as he is now over Pickford. -

Southgate that got them to the World Cup semi's and within a penalty shoot out of winning the Euros? -

First time Germany have ever sacked their manager apparently! -

Squad - Elliot Anderson called up!
Fairbairn replied to Bobby Russell's Lovechild's topic in TA specific
I'm not saying this is what has happened but if he needs to be "convinced" to play for Scotland then we can do without him. I'd rather have players that know they want to play for us and would run through brick walls for the jersey. -

The over reaction from a significant number of Rangers fans has been ridiculous. There are still serious question marks over Beale's ability to win when it matters and his signings this season have largely failed to hit the mark but emptying him at this stage would be farcical. And what happens when the new guy loses a couple of Euro games and the next Old Firm? Do we punt him before Christmas as well? He's got a good chance of adding the 3rd bit of silverware in 11 years so I'd give him that opportunity. If we get to Christmas and we're well off Celtic and haven't won the League Cup then he'll likely have made the boards minds up for them. -

That's a shocker from the linesman. He's looking right across the line and the boy is a good yard onside. -

Defeated by the midges trying to climb Ben Lomond on Saturday. We got about an hour in and it was just ridiculous. Loads of people were coming down saying it was even worse further up and that they'd turned back. They were absolutely everywhere and getting in hours eyes, mouths, ears etc. I've got a photo where my arms are black from the amount of wee buggers all over me. Really disappointing as I'd been looking forward to it for ages but we'll be back outside of midge season! -
Gigs 2020
Fairbairn replied to dandydunn's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
Was at the Ben Ottewell gig at King Tuts last week. First time I've seen him since I saw Gomez (twice) at Glastonbury in '98. He played all of Bring It On acoustic. Always been one of my favourite albums so I was like a pig in shit. He also hinted about Gomez releasing some new material soon and touring it which would be amazing! -

And has since released a statement saying the manager is talking pish! That'll get him back in the squad!
