  1. Well all I can say is 'hurrah' for all the pharts in the world . Trying to separate the wheat from the chaff on 345643267 google search engine results is an art in itself. That said, I wouldn't go back. I was born in the early 60's. I still have nightmares about my P5 homework. Try finding the names of '20 suspension bridges of the world' from one mouldy old Encyclopaedia Brittanica.
  2. Gutted. You have spoiled the illusion. And here's me thinking you were our very own TA time lord.
  3. Is a ridiculous idea. Up there with people who re-new their marriage vows.
  4. I stopped short at describing my consumption of the fondant in fear of sounding like creme egg porn ?
  5. Just tried one. I used to be able to grind the chocolate down with my teeth without it breaking. Now it collapses. Also, i never used to be able to get a whole egg in my mouth at once, now i can. So they are definitely getting smaller unless my mouth is shrinking. My husband has confirmed otherwise.
  6. I am sure you will both be able to claim tax relief.
  7. Completely agree. I cannot believe 5 pages have been dedicated to a question a monkey could answer. No you will not pay more income tax than you were. Yes you will pay more income tax than the rest of the UK. Whether you like it or not is simply down to personal opinion. I am fortunate enough to be in this tax bracket and when i voted YES in the referendum it was with a clear understanding that if Scotland was to become more socially just then i was going to have to take a hit one way or another. You cannot have it both ways. Anyone earning over £42k is doing pretty well in Scotland. Others , especially those who voted NO will not see it that way. They think they are being shafted as they were happy with the status quo. However the vast majority of people in Scotland want devolved powers and the whole bloody point is not to stay the same as the UK. The limited powers will make it really tricky . It will take years to change things and doesn't really help when people are greetin at the first hurdle. At the top of the thread there was an advert suggesting i may be due a £2500 tax refund. I suggest everyone moaning give it a click .
  8. 'Make up the rules as we go along'. Isnt it reassuring that 50 years on things are so much more transparent... Right enough that film makes 'making a murderer' look like the Teletubbies.
  9. I honeslty have no idea how you know all this stuff. I got the gist of what you were saying despite the removal of sweary words. The film filled in the blanks. With regards to the Marshall Islands i still dont understand why the anti nuclear groups arent making more of it.
  10. Can you expand a bit Phart ? To me, Diego Garcia sounds like another overpaid footballer. ? (though a quick google search confirms otherwise) Just pretend you are educating your 12,yr old daughter.
  11. I dont use Facebook or Twitter so cant compare at all but from things i hear i think this board may be a bit more respectful to other posters than other social media outlets, well apart from the odd handbag fight. What i do notice though is the high number of viewers per thread versus posters. Is this ratio normal on social media? What would make more people get involved? Do they feel they have nothing to add or feel a bit intimidated ?
  12. There is a letter in today's National about the Marshall Islands suing all 9 nuclear armed states at the Intl Criminal Court for their failure to implement the Non-proliferation Treaty which they signed on 1968. I have never heard of this which in itself isnt surprising however i cannot see any media attention to this and it seems to have moved to a fairly important stage. Does anyone know what the chances are of any degree of success ? This is one of the few things i found on it . http://m.greenpeace.org/international/en/high/news/Blogs/nuclear-reaction/marshall-islands-icj-nuclear-lawsuit/blog/55905/
  13. Think this definetley linked to EU. Not only is he now able to become more vocal on EU he sticks the knife in Osbourne and raises Boris's chances of being next PM.
  14. This is the first time i have laughed all weekend. I think it should be reinstated.
  15. I would have thought that the Cinderella and Mary Poppins references would have made that obvious. But as you say , sometimes people are so paranoid they cant see the wood from the trees.
  16. Sigh..... You are such a drama queen Scunnered. Hitler was evil . Stalin was evil . Pol Pot was evil. Cinderella's step mum was evil. You have a strange interpretation of evil. Were you raised by Mary Poppins ?
  17. I honestly had no idea how similar wives and parrots actually were until now.
  18. Do you not consider your wife to be your long term companion? Only a brave man would take on a wife AND a parrot.
  19. To me , the term ' standing shoulder to shoulder' signifiies camaraderie . The definition of ' camaraderie is ' Mutual trust and friendship among people who spend a lot of time together' . Hmmmmm.
